Title: A new house, and some new robots!
Post by: InmemoryofRomeo on April 22, 2014, 06:11:55 PM
Those who spotted my signature might have noticed the gradual change from saving for a house deposit, to waiting for loan approval, to finally having a moving date set! Well it's happened! I am currently settling in to my very own home!

It's been an exciting but busy time and very, very stressful, but it's all done now and I can finally relax again and get my ever expanding robotic family out to stretch stiff and aching legs, wheels and whatnot! There are a few new arrivals to introduce :) See if you can spot them!

Arriving a few weeks before the move is Nigel, the robotic vacuum. He's not very bright but he does do a good job of keeping my floors clean even if he can't always find the doorway to the next room :P

About a week ago, Glorb the Sphero arrived. That one is all Kat's fault ;) She posted about her Sphero on Facebook and I just -had- to go off researching them... Glorb is the special Apple see through edition. So don't look if you have a weak stomach ;)

Sandwiched between Max, Zenni and Gupi you might spy a new little doggy face. I picked up the as yet unnamed Tekno robotic dog from a market over the Easter weekend. I haven't had much of a play with her yet, she seems pretty simplistic as you'd expect given the age group she's targeting but she came at a good price so I had to buy her :)

Hopefully I can locate all the batteries and chargers now, so I can charge them all up!

Glad you got settled in, I really wish I had a house to call home... I bet you are happy to see all your old "friends" again. I think the vacuum would get a good workout in my home with eight cats and very large shedding long haired dog, but the sphero looks the most interesting. Hard to really see the insides. LOL.

Do you have enough room to have them all on at the same time and keep track of them?           RWM

Room, yes, keeping track of them, not a chance lol. I'll test them in batches I think :P

Congrats on owning your own home, IMR! I run my bots in batches too. It's safer for everyone- humans included. Just curious though. How big is a Spheero? Is it the size of a golf ball or more like a baseball? I'm considering plucking up one to distract my dog.

It's more baseball sized, but a wee bit smaller.  And gee, I posted about sphero last September when I got one and you didn't rush out to get one, IMR!  I see who's advice you  trust! ;) ;)  (just teasing)

I remember that Grumpy ;) But back then the things were $200 here!

Some of my lot got out to stretch their legs, Zenni was a bit pushy with the new Silver but he also seemed rather taken with her :P Max might need a new battery, his doesn't seem to be charging properly and Gupi's needs running through a few times to get it back up to snuff, but aside from that (and Stitch catching a cold) everyone seems to be in good health :)

Very nice :)  looks like everyone is having fun being able to break out and run around.  So far with my sphero I like the drive app better than the normal sphero app for just driving it around.  For some reason it seams to have a more sensitive control dial. I just find it easier to manoeuvre him with the drive app.  I haven't had a lot of time playing with mine yet as we have been rather busy with fun holiday stuff and I've been working quite a bit, so I still have lots to explore with him.  I called mine Fred :)  I have one cat who quite likes to play with the sphero and will chase it and bat at it with his paws.  It's very cute.  So far my other cat has been too busy sleeping to notice the sphero :P
