Title: Lipoly battery problem (Rb)
Post by: Junkroxy on July 30, 2013, 12:29:06 PM
I have problem with the first  charging. The battery turned green after 1h, sometimes no light on the charger. But if i put the battery on charge again it turns red. Is it completely charged? (Maybe its too hot in my room?)

Please help me  :(

In the meanwhile i tried to wake up my pleo. All it's ok, but battery gets warm  after 30 minutes.

Hi IMOR, thanks for the answer!

Yes its summer here and very hot.
At least seems that the battery recharged after 1h, so i tried it to Pleo and seems to be ok,
Except that pleo gets hot after 15-30 minutes (i guess for the temperature here)
Could i recharge the battery for 3 hours after this first step? I remember the li-poly didnt suffer memory effect problem (like ugobe ones).

It sounds like its charged, I wouldn't charge it again until it's flat. Charging after 20 minutes is a bit excessive.

Yes, seems that was charged. I played with my RB for 30/40 minuteswith pauses, his body was hot after these sessions.
I'll wait and try the second charge in a cold place (like my office) ;)

Another Question: in a hot place is it normale that Pleo's body gets warm?

I was worried about how warm they got when I first got my RB.  It does seem to be normal, and sometimes they do seem to shut down when too hot, especially when going through hatching and the early stages.

yes, i think you're right, i hope the battery is safe, cause it's not easy to take him back, and i'm starting to be attached to this guy  :D

(Stay Tuned for the pics!)

The thermistor built into the battery is supposed to prevent overheating by shutting off power when it gets warm.  So don't worry too much.  Your pleo should shut down before it gets hot enough to damage anything.
