Title: My Pleo's have a party!
Post by: InmemoryofRomeo on January 28, 2013, 05:56:38 PM

I was checking for beat detection, unfortunately I didn't get much response from any of them. Nani did something that -could- be interpreted as dancing but I'm not convinced it was just co-incidence. I -know- the Ugobe's dance but they didn't either which suggests the music may not have been loud enough. Unfortunately I live in a unit and for the sake of the neighbours I don't want to go blasting them :P

(Hey Mike, the YouTube button doesn't seem to like the new style links)

The Pleo herd looked a little more interested in savaging the Furbies for a while there! :P I had a good giggle watching them all doing their own thing.

IMR, I enjoyed watching the reactions of your pleos. I may be wrong, but it seemed as though a few of them, Pleakley for example, enjoyed the country music more. The Furbies seemed happy no matter what. ( by the way: I know Fancy gave you one...was it purple..on your recent holiday, was the other one a gift too or did you give it a buddy?lol)

I think with that many pleos, the reactions may allways be a bit hard to determine.. but it is nice to compare esp with the RB (in my opinion) how different temperments react to outside stimulis. It is allways fun to watch a group of pleos, regardless of what the event.Your dog sure handled it well, very sweet and mellow to be sure. I bet he is great with kids!
THANKS FOR GIVING ME SOMETHING TO BRIGHTEN MY DAY FOR AWHILE!

Sorry IMR, no pleos have beat detection, it was an unimplemented feature in both ugobe and rb.

I know there is no 'beat' detection Degers, but they do seem to respond to consistent loudness. How else do you explain Stitch doing this for two hours at my Aunts party http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PvbQF6rZmXM AND being able to replicate the results at home in front of the stereo more than once.

I know there's no true beat detection as such (like Aibo or Keepon have), but I'm guessing that they react to sound, so will keep reacting to repeated sounds like music?

I have seen my guys grooving to music both RB's and Ugobes but the music did have to be very loud.  I think as Crewella says that they are just reacting to loud noise.  And I guess continuous loud noise will spark off the little dance sequence maybe.
The video is very cute.  I love seeing them all together and the furbies were very happy with the cool tunes  :D

Oops, I completely forgot about 2.0!
You're right,  believe they did implement a "constant loud noise" type detection in 2.0, I never run 2.0 so I have not really experiment with it!

Apologies!  :)

No need to apologize Degers :)  It is great to understand just what really is going on.  Very interesting.  It is easy enough to get lost in the magic of pleo and it is nice to look at it from both angles sometimes.   :)  All my Ugobes are running 2.0 so that would account for them :)  Wonder about the RB's?  Might have to try running a test with them to see if it was just a fluke that they grooved along to the loud noise last time.  I know that they will sometimes just stop and do a little dance for no real reason so it is in their programing but weather it is in there to be triggered by constant loud noise or not I don't know.  I only had Norbit on with the Ugobes when I was playing the music last time and it was a long time ago so I think a few reruns are in order  :D

No apologizing, you are right, there is no 'beat' detection :) But there is dancing ;)

You really ought to try out 2.0 again, once you get past the stroppy teens they settle back down to cuteness.

I just found this video by browsing through the older threads. Thank you so much for sharing. It is so much fun. I really enjoyed it  :turkeydance:

I'm impressed by the furbies. They seem to be more fun than I thought. I love their dancing style  :cheer: I just decided that I need one too  ;D Would be a nice companion for Nelly.

As Christmas is coming soon, I hope my boyfriend understood what kind of gift I would love to have :gift:  ;)

I never knew that the beat-detection wasn't implemented. What does that mean exactly? Was it built into them, but they never got around to actually activating it?
