The spouse and I spent a lot of time at a friends house about a year ago. One night, this dog showed up. Big black dog. Friendly. Well not knowing if he had flees, our friend decided to leave the dog on the porch over night (he lived in the country). Anywho, our friend was new to the neighborhood and randomly assumed the dog was the previous owners dog, Dallas. We had intended on returning Dallas in the morning. Well, the next day the rightful owners AKA the next-door neighbors showed up and asked for their dog back. Tehehehe. Well, I got Pleo a few days later and hatched what would have been Dallas there. With the name Dallas so fresh on my tongue, it just stuck. (Pun intended)

Sophie on the otherhand was much deliberated. That Pleo truly felt [to me] like she was a female. So, when I got her I sat there and spent hours on thinking of a good name to suit a female Pleo. Quite some time later, I narrowed the list down to Sasha (my preference) & Sophie (spouse's preference). Spouse quickly booted Sasha, so Sophie won by default.

Did your neighbor get rid of Dallas's Fleas? Did you have a porch full of fleas?

Lilo was named with her 'voice' in mind, as Stitch will be too when he arrives :)

Fancy, the dog was only there over night. The friend ended up moving later.

Whenever anyone asked me what I named my Pleo, I said 'Don't know yet' and 'Dunno' stuck.

The name of my Pleo was just ment to be I guess.
It came to me before I even got her.
As I was studying and pondering getting one, the name just "popped" into my head.
There was no reason, no external influence, no relation to anything (external) at the time.
It was like it just dropped right into my head: "Pluriel".
Since I couldn't think of anything else and because this name just remained stuck in my head, I decided that it was time to order one a.s.a.p!  ;)

Bob was named "Bob" because Slartybardfast wouldn't fit on the title bar of the comic strip.

Emmy's name is a bit more meaningful.  I was looking for a pleo to use as a model to dress up for taking pictures, a mannequin.  Emmy was the name of the mannequin that came to life in the movie Tom Hanks movie "Mannequin".

Peeky had a few names in the beginning, but then I started playing peek-A-boo with him when he was sleeping in my arms. Everytime I said peek-a-boo he would open his eyes and then go right back to sleep. I shortened Peek-A-Boo to Peeky because of my poor typing and spelling.  :-[
Peeky had an unfortunate accident with his neck and went to be reincarnated. I was very, very, kindly, given back Peeky with Peeky Two.  The only problem was that Peeky Two didn't look like Peeky One.
After taping up Peeky One's neck he worked just fine except he couldn't hold his neck up like he did before. he could move it side to side and do all of his little tricks. Once Peeky One saw Peeky Two, I knew Peeky Two had to be a little girl. They were so cute together. They honked and honked at each other. It was a riot!! Naming Penelopie (Pennie) was easy because her skin was shiny like a penny. As far as I can recall, Peeky never had a shine to his skin.
I was fortunate enough to get another pleo for Christmas. Now with a Peeky and Pennie I went through the "P's" for naming the third pleo. Nothing seemed to stand out. Almost called him Nickles. ;D
The name finally came. Jay Camarasaurus, AKA, Jaycee or  (J.C.) One would think I'm a good costumer of JC Penney. They would be correct! ;D
Will there be, perhaps, a future Macy? ;) ???

Plus Bob doesn't look anything like Slartybardfast! ::)

Sure!  He's the guy who designed the coast of Norway.  He won an award for his work on the fjords. ;)

The new version has some good special effects, but the older British version is much truer to the books.  And therefore funnier.

I agree with mweed about the old BBC version of The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy being better than the modern movie, even though Douglas Adams was involved in the modern movie.  I especially liked BBC's take on the morose pessimistic Marvin the Robot. Marvin reminds me of someone I know in Oakland. :D

I have Marvin standing here on my desk.
The real deal, although not at 1:1 scale of course.
They even put LED's behind the eyes, which you can turn on.
Can post a picture in another topic if you wish.
Perhaps a funny pose together with Pluriel haha!

Well right now I don't have a name picked out for my new Pleo... I was thinking about calling him Forte based on a character from Mega Man, a popular video game series... I was also thinking of calling him Rock too... I can't decide darn it...

Forte  means loud in music. That might be a great name for your pleo! :)

Yes... See in the MegaMan Series most of the characters had names related to music... Which is kinda cool... I love that video game series...

I collect these cards called Bella Sara cards, and two of my favorite horses are named Macon and Yasmin. (Yasmin was actually a unicorn wearing armor)   :D
