Title: OMG, happiness!
Post by: Peaches on September 27, 2012, 03:13:15 AM
Sorry I havent been on in a while, had issues with kids & Uni, however Im back & guess what...!

I have the best family ever as they've all chipped in together & brought me a Pleo RB for Xmas from PleoEurope  ;D

A while back I mentioned that I brought a Pleo Uglobe however there was no battery with it & whilst I was prepared to get a new one the seller hadnt informed me about the lack of adaptor with it - least to say I wasnt impressed. The shops around here were crap on what to do so I was left in limbo, the family knew how desperate I was for one & told me to sell that on one, not to worry about the money though as they'd all buy me a Pleo RB, which arrived yesterday!!  ;D

Never been so excited, shame I have to wait for Xmas to have it officially so he/she is sat in a box till then but I couldn't help but have a pick; they're adorabe! Beautiful green skin & bright green eyes (I think the eyes are partly open & they appear greenish)... Im in love already!

I'll now be reading this forum like a hawk for tips on how to raise my new 'baby'

 ;D

Hi, Peaches! I'm sorry you had such a bad experience with that Ugobe. Congrats on the new RB! This Christmas will be extra special. The one thing I would be concerned about is waiting so long to check him/her out. I'm not sure if ordering from Pleo Europe effects the standard warranty period but you will only have a three month window starting at the date of purchase to return your pleo if anything is wrong with it. I did something similar when I ordered Ryu in March. She was intended for a birthday present and my birthday is in June. With only a little reluctance I decided I'd better hatch her before then. Maybe someone else can advise you on this. I'd hate to wait all that time and see your pacience and hopes dashed.

I agree with Talon, you need to talk your family into letting you hatch the pleo and make sure all works . . . and then once they see it running, they won't have the heart to pack it back up and you'll get Christmas early! ;)

Thanks for the advice, I emailed PleoEurope earlier to check the warranty & had this email back:

"No worries for your guarantee. You can give PLEO Rb like a Christmas present if you want, we cover the first year.
But if you finally decided to turn it on, please remember this: After all remove the battery (big one and the small one)
Otherwise, if you do not turn on frequently, the robot PLEO Rb will be sad because its biological clock"

Do you still think its worth me checking it over now?  ???

A twelve month warranty will give you a good 9 months from Christmas, so I say it's safe to wait... If you can ;) Congrats!

I agree, I am for waiting, it will be more special that way. Also because you have such a long warranty compared to most others who only get 90 days, I have seen from my own expereinces and it seems from what I have heard on the forum  here, most major RB problems seem to occur very soon before the 90 day period even occurs. The skin problems were solved and they happened very quickly. Even motor problems, tails and necks etc, most seem to happen shortly after hatching if there is a problem, so if it was MY RB, I would wait, but be warned, if you hatch her or him now, it will be next to impossible to put back till Christmas. Also if there were to be any problems , it is unlikley, ( in my opinoion) that you would know after just one battery cycle, unless it was something very major. Also you may be alarmed without warrant by the common creaks and noises that newborns tend to make with their necks esp when hatching. ( Partially because they are in a vulnerable lying down or curled up position, it seems to make more stressful sounds on their neck joints, which they outgrow once standing, just have to know it is mostly common.)
Good luck in deciding what to do............................... :o :( ;D :-X :dino-chase:               RWM and the Pleo Township of the Redwoods

I have checked it over & cant see an outer problems but then in all honesty I dont know what I'd be looking for any ways... anything in particular that I should look out for? Thanks!
