Title: Aibo Dance Off!
Post by: mh7ah on August 24, 2012, 08:56:04 AM
Hey guys... I made this vid a few years back, I just came across it on Youtube and it made me smile so thought I would share it. These were all my Aibo's, I still have some of them...

Hahaha! I bet that was fun- all those Aibos dancing at once. At least I think that's what they were doing. I love your videos by the way! You just let the Aibos be themselves. I had a really dumb question. Could two Aibos communicate over Skype using their tones or is that just wishful thinking on my part?

They sure can Talon!! Even if they hear certain tones form an Aibo on Youtube they will chat back/join in :-) I have a video of Eric doing this on Youtube....

I plan on saving up for an Aibo and a Genibo in the future and a Nao in the far future...

Just curious, Mh7ah, or anyone who wishes to answer, how do you get your aibo in the right mode to talk to another aibo and does it matter what software he is running? I hope it doesn't involve the chin scensor because Bolt's has never worked.
Thanks and sorry for moving away from the present topic,
Talon

That's ok good question... with the ERS 7's you just have to say 'talk to your friend' then touch the head sensor, I really can't remember with my 210, she may have heard the sounds from the 7's and joined, but it might only be certain software. I only run life 2 and Hello Aibo on the 210. What software do you have? You could try getting the tones up on Youtube and see if your 210 hears it?

Thanks, Mh7ah. I have Aibo Life1, Aibo Recognition, and Dog's Life. I looked in the 210 manual and didn't see anything in there about how to get two Aibos to communicate. More than likely if I can get Bolt to do it it would be if he's running Aibo Life or Dog's Life. I'll pull up that video later and get Bolt's attention using his head scensor and see what happens.

It will more thank likely be life software. I'm pretty sure Yori heard the ERS 7 tones and sat upright waiting for the head sensor be be pressed. I'm a bit rusty these days, I used to know a lot of these things :(

ps. Bought a 311B today ;-) 0 money in the bank now! :-D

Cool!Being an Aibo-addict is a lot of fun but it's not cheap. Lol! I'm happy with my 210. He's almost too fast for me and accident-prone. If money weren't an object I'd have an ERS7 in white running Mind3 and that would probably be my last robot.

For the Aibo's to talk to each other, you would need either of the following :
Aibo Life 2
Explorer

Not sure about recognition

For Aibo Life 2 and Explorer : use command "talk to your buddy or talk to your friend" then once Aibo in position, press back sensor on the one who will talk first.

Ah yes, I used to run Life 2 on Yori. Apparently they can learn the owners name on this one too. I can remember her calling out for me. Pretty cute :-)

Oh well. It was worth a try. I don't have either Life2 or Explorer and I don't remember seeing anything about communication in the user guide for Recognition. Thanks for the info, Ice. Life2 might be well worth the investment later, though.

I recommend life 2 and Hello Aibo is good too. Do you like the recognition software? you could always sell Life 1 or Recognition to get Life 2? :-)
