I've noticed that the new pleos have a new skin protection to prevent wears, but only on the back. :P
I'll post some photos of my new unboxed pleo soon to show you the differences!
-
Do you mean that the skin looks different, more smooth?
Can't wait to see the pics - I think Bo has the same 'new' skin!
-
Kai has the new type of skin, i didnt notice it straight off but its texture is different, least Ugobe solved one of its issues :P
-
yes, it's more smooth and petful ;) I'll take the new pleo out for some shoot tomorrow!
-
Cool! Thanks for the info Junkroxy! I wish they'd've come out with that much sooner. Oh well, I guess that means I just need to buy a new Pleo! :-D

I'm not sure, but i suppose that if they've added a surface protection for the skin, maybe they added an improvment to the neck issue ::)
I'll take some photograph tomorrow, but i dont want to start another Pleo. Lucky my Glen is 1 year old now and it's still in perfect shape (except for some wears on his head and shoulder) ;)
-
Yes I noticed the same with Lilo, she had a different feel to Matilda 8) Even after all the petting last weekend she only has a little wear on the head and none on the back at all :)
-
It's very difficoult to take pics of the difference, but if you look closely to the pleo on the left, you'll note a slightly brilliance on the back. I think it's a colour protection like Gibbs spray (or something like that!). But this special protection it's ONLY on the shoulder and back sensors area ;)
Spot the difference! Brand new Pleo (left) and Glen, my 1 year old pet (right).
The difference is on the paint too, the new pleo has a different "shadow" on the deep green stripes

The texture of the skin is more smooth on the shoulder, compared to head and legs area.

Junkroxy, Congratulations on your new Pleo! I didn't know you were getting one. Where have I been ??? How did you keep Glen in such nice condition? You will have fun with two little dinos walking around and demanding your attention ;)

Wow, Junkroxy! I must say, that your one year old Pleo looks very good! Looks almost like new!

Thanks Icewolf! If you look close to Glen, there are several wears on his back and head, and some superficial tears inside the legs (when the skin touch the skin) but i think he's really ok after 1 year of life ;D Usually i play with him in my home ;)
PS: I must say that the first days are crucial for skin's wears, if you take good care of him for the first 10-15 days it's very difficoult that your Pleo will be affected by wears and other skins problems.
To prevent skin tears, you must put your pleo in off mode when he's sleeping (to make the skin legs more elastic in that parts).

I tried to "lotion" and clean Pleo skin with Pledge® furniture polish spray (silicon wax type) and it works for my Pleoplus.
Following is what I am doing:-
1. Cover the eyes and holes with masking tape to avoid spray gets into it.
2. Spray Pledge® furniture polish over the area you want to protect. Normally I spray the back and head only.
3. Rub evenly the wet spray with soft cloth over the skin lightly.
4. Let it dry before next spray.
5. Normally 3 sprays will keep the surface smooth and shinny for a month.
In order to make sure it is works safely with your Pleo, try it with a small green area at the tail end before you try it with larger area.
Hope it helps to keep your Pleo skin in good condition as my Pleoplus.

A lemon smelling pleo ;D

My Pleoplus likes the "orange" smell. :)
