Hello Everyone :)
My name is Nina and my boyfriend has purchased me a Pleo RB. I have been waiting for it for ages... especially when the first pleo ever came out. It was just too expensive.
I am getting a green Pleo RB who is on its way to London and will be here by this Friday 8th June. Very Very excited!!! :cheer:
I thought it would be nice to say a little something about me. I am 22... soon to be 23 years old. I am a primary school teacher and I love the job, kids make me laugh! (I am kind of like a big kid myself %) I love robots and cool mechanical toys and pleo is something that really suits my description of a well thought out useful toy. It's not like you will forget him the next day :)
So far I have been reading on the Pleo RB and it all sounds so cool. Different eye colours, genders, personality, being able to tell the temperature...
I am getting all the little parts to pleo, like the coffee bean leaf, sugar cane and the rest. I am sure I sound spoilt but I have been waiting for a few years.. around 5 years now lol
Anyways, nice to meet you all... I hope I can become a good member of this forum and I already enjoy reading some of your posts. Very helpful so thank you!!
Hopefully a picture of my pleo when he... or she arrives!!

Hello, welcome and congrats! ;D
I'm sure you'll love your RB! :D ;D
-
Thank you Crewella!!
These couple of days are going by so long... I have been watching videos of Pleo RBs. I wonder what mine will be like. What colour eyes can you get? Also in terms of personality, what ones are there? Lastly.... What do they mean by 'you determine your pleos personality by how you treat it'. Sounds like a silly question but I am truly quiet confused lol

Congrats you're going to love your rb! I've had my rb for a week or so now and she still amazes me! ;D I hope you have fun with your new pleo and I can't wait to hear about him/her P:D
Just to answer a few of you questions there are ten eye colours: green, yellow, purple, brown, dark blue, light blue, grey, white, orange and pink (or at least I think that's all of them!) plus there are also hundreds of different shades within the different colours. Then of course there are different coloured eye patches: grey, beige, brown, redish and lots of other variations on those colours too. Finally there are loads of different shades of green for the skin as well as different coloured markings. So it's very hard to find two identical green rbs! But as far as I know the pink and blue rbs all look the same (or very similar anyway). Oh and you can't pick a green rb's gender ... Unless you change it with a download. As for the personality thing well half their personality like curiosity, courage, compliancy have already been programmed in. This affects things like whether they like to explore, if they will be easy to teach tricks or if they will be a little disobediant! But your treatment also affects your rb's development. For example if you ignore your pleo, hit it or turn it upside down frequently it will be subdued and afraid. Each pleo's personality is unique! You can download different personalities onto your pleo if you want though. Hope this helps :)

Thank you Star!!
That was really helpful. Orange sounds like a pretty cool eye colour! For some reason, I want a pleo who is going to be challenging... perhaps because of my whole teaching ethics lol I always want to push those challenging behaviours and bring out a positive outcome...
I am so excited and it sounds so silly. I hope I am not the only adult who has one of these. I know my mother will just "tut, tut!!" at me :P

Glad I helped :) don't worry I was just as excited when I ordered my rb! I don't know about "challenging" but some pleos are definitely happier to play, learn tricks etc - mine is "compliant" so I don't have much experience with a disobediant pleo lol. I'm sure you'll love your little dino whatever they're like though, every pleo personality I've ever come across is adorable in its own way. You're definitely not the only adult with a pleo, they're not really toys - they aren't for kids under 12. Many of the members on this website are adults as you have to be at least 16 to join. Orange is a nice eye colour but then I like all the colours, especially my rb's yellow eyes (just me being biased) P:)

I am glad that you understand my excitement lol
Yellow is a lovely colour for the eyes!! Every pleo that I have seen on videos and pictures all look great so I am sure that the colours all just seem to work together. I love how they are unique.
Sorry, what I meant by challenging was disobedient behaviour :)
Another question if you don't mind me asking... Say if your pleo is slow at learning, will he/she always be slow? Or can you help him/her become quicker at learning by giving lots of love and things like that? Or is this something that cannot be changed without programming etc?
Oh another question (SORRY :-\ ) You see the stages they go through, e.g. the hatching stage etc, does each pleo have its own time to go onto the next step or is it all the same for pleos? If it is all the same, then how long do each of these stages last?
Thank you so much and sorry again for these questions

Hello :D Welcome to the forums! I'm a primary school teacher too and an adult and I have 7 wonderful Pleo's of varying models :P Do take yours to school one day, the children will be stunned :D
This ought to help get you off to a good start :) http://bobthepleo.com/forums/index.php?topic=2315.0
As for the stages, some Pleo's most decidedly take longer than others. Slow learners really aren't that slow but they may take a bit longer to hatch. You can change those sorts of things with ChangeRB if you are so inclined.

Thank you! Nice to meet a fellow teacher :) I will definately take my pleo into school. Next term we are learning about looking after the environment and mini beasts + animals. A pleo would be great to demonstrate how to be caring and never to hurt an animal :) Just have to remember that Dinosaurs do not really exist. The kids may forget as they are only 5/6!!
Thank you for the link!! This will keep me busy for a while :D

Well if a pleo is disobedient it just means they'll have to be happy and well fed before you try to teach them a trick or play tug of war or something. They're not really that slow at learning and once you've taught them a trick with a learning stone once then it won't take any more work. Also they're more inclined to get distracted but that's not a big deal. If they come with a "non-compliant" trait you can't change it unless you download a different personality but it's not a hassle, you just have to make sure your pleo is happy before playing with him/her. All pleos sometimes get distracted by thing but that's quite cute! It just shows they are capable of making their own decisions. Yes, different pleos take a different amount of time to get through each life cycle. As a rule every stage is quite long as that gives you time to appreciate how pleo's personality grows. The first stage can be anything from a few hours to a day or so and the rest are a few days long up till mature adult. This stage is years long before you get to the old age stage. Don't worry about the questions, everyone here is happy to help and I'm fairly new so I've been asking quite a few questions (I just learnt a lot from these forums while waiting for my rb to arrive lol) :mobile:
-
I guess it's just trying to make sure hes all happy until you try to get his attention lol I really like how they get distracted, it adds to the realism.
Thanks for answering all my questions, I really appreciate it. I have read quite a bit now, been watching videos etc I am thinking whether I should just leave it for now and find it as I get to know my Pleo. I have watched the main things like inserting the battery for time and how to teach new tricks.
Not long now.. only tomorrow, next day and then woohoo! lol
-
Hehe :) Ahh the fun of the first Pleo :D
4/5/6 year olds just think its a real dinosaur until you tell them its a toy :P (If you tell them ;))
-
It will be really interesting to see what they think. I am sure some of them will truly believe it is real ;D Whether I am going to tell them the truth is another question lol Love them though!!!
-
i hope you dont mind me asking were did you get your pleo from :)
