i heard a few weeks ago that they are gonna release a new furby soon, later this year apparently, anyone know more?
dee xx
-
From a quick internet search it doesn't look like there's much info out there so I guess we'll have to wait for the details on this one! I did find out that it's going to have have digital eyes and be made of cuddlier material but that's pretty much it. :( It looks very cool though I'm not sure about the eyes - maybe I'm too stuck in the past? :-[ Even so I'd love to buy one of these when they come out in the holidays. ;D Depends on the price though, I pretty much bankrupted myself buying my pleo rb (it was worth it though :) ). I remember I loved furbys when I was younger so I can't wait to find out more about the features!
-
Yep - I found the same as Star. Miss those eyes - a screen just ain't the same ....... :moose:
-
I am not at all impressed with the eyes >:( I guess the digital ones are cheaper but I would prefer real eyes. With real eyes it looks more like an actual creature, with digital eyes it looks like a toy. Not magical at all. The special thing about the original Furby was that I really thought it was a living creature from another world, these new eyes ruin that illusion for me.
I also don't think it is cuddlier than the originals at all. The originals had fabric ears, this one appears to have plastic ears. The body appears the same, I would say if you held it it would feel no more cuddly than the original.
Are we sure this is real? Is someone just playing around in photoshop to tease everyone? Because I remember when a popular robotics magazine published realistic photographs of a 'New Aibo' and got everyone all excited then revealed the photos were fakes and they did it for April Fools joke... I couldn't find anything official from Hasbro about this new Furby.
If it is real I will of course try to buy one, if they have good AI.
-
I wondered about that too, Luna (and remember the 'new' Aibo). Guess we'll just have to wait and see .......... %)
-
It's TRUE! ;D
Hasbro have confirmed: http://www.buzzfeed.com/whitneyjefferson/an-exclusive-first-look-at-the-new-furby
They say on their twitter "The global phenomenon returns! Get ready to welcome back FURBY this holiday season!"
-
Oh yey! I don't care if I'm too old for them this is going straight on my christmas list. ;D I wonder if the new Furby will have ai ...
-
I wonder Crewella, if that was the inside scoop you know who was talking about ;) :-X %)
-
This is not related to the new furby but it is a cool picture, baby 1999 Mintys with their Shelby overloard and his faithful jester:

HAHAHAHA!
-
*could be ....... * :moose: :-X
OMG Luna - that's terrifying!!! :o
-
I think the new furby does look kind of cute. I never had a furby....... :)
-
looks interesting, i was hoping for a new furby when i was 7. i will have to get it...
-
Both of my original furby's died this year. I guess 14 years is about their life span. They were so funny! New ones look cute! :)
-
Oh that is ad to hear fancy :(
-
All six of mine are still going. My two originals have a few problems but they're still basically working. One needs a new tilte scensor and the other needs a new speaker- easy repairs if you know where to look, just not so easy to do without sight. The two babies and the emototronic guys are still in good working order though. I'd be interested in seeing some video of the new Furby.
Talon
-
i have a gizmo furby but he sounds muffled, i would like to get a new one, but i also wish the eyes were better lol xx
-
I turned down an offer on a 2005 Furby and man do I regret it :'( The Furby was only a few streets away and the owner even offered to deliver it free to my door. The person who bid won it for $10
$10 man!
You won't get them chaper, and in my town too. I should have gone for it but I'd just won Tron and I was hatching him when the auction was ending and just lost interest in placing a bid I guess.
Regret it big time now, only $10 and three streets away. It would have been perfect and a rare colour as well (found that out to late..) oh well there will be others %)
-
Awe! I'm sorry. Luna do you want an Emototronic Furby? You're talking about the ones with voice command, right? I have two of them I've been trying to find homes for for years.
Talon
-
Yes those are the ones I was looking for, the big ones you can talk too.
-
Would you like a mated pair? Lol!They will come in one box. One was an Easter gift in two thousand five. The other one a friend gave me because she said its eyes freaked her out. If you're interested PM me and I'll give you more details. It might be a while before I can coordinate the adoption, though. I'm moving and I'll need to get my life back in order first.

Here we go guys the official site is live: http://furby.com/
Nothing much to see there yet though, just 'coming soon' and an animated picture of new Furby's eyes.
ALSO here are some great VIDEOs of new Furby! First one is here with lots of information about what he can do and the new features: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ATewDrdidVE&feature=relmfu
Another video is here and shows the voice recognition new Furby will have and some personalities: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GwKw6SGqRpI&feature=related
At first I was feeling very negative about this new Furby but after seeing these videos I now feel super excited! I love his new movements and sweet voice and the way he reacts to being tossed around was so cute, he absolutely love it ;D I like that each one will come with its own personality and be able to develop and learn from you. They say some enjoy having their tails tugged and some do not and also some like to be upside down whilst others will get frightened. Having now seen the eyes I am not as angry about them as I was before. I am still unsure but I am pleased to see that they are not completely digital but have animatronic eye lids. The singing along with the music was amazing.
I am NOT happy about the removal of the OFF switch. That means having to carry a screwdriver around everywhere to remove the batteries all the time. Not impressed. He will cost a lot to run because his batteries will be constantly going flat because I won't be able to take them out and I will have to buy new ones all the time. Grrr me no like!
Other than that I am happy with him and will pre-order a yellow one once Toys-R-Us start offering.
Also here are pictures of the box: http://www.engadget.com/photos/furby-on-white/#5133293
-
Ooookay? *looks slightly confused but smiles* I don't know what to think of these guys. Do the rails go all the way around like a tiny walker? I'm not sure how the voice recognition works. The response on the video didn't look so advanced to me. Every Furby I know accept for the Emototronic ones respond to random noise like that. The Emototronic ones had ten phraises you could give them and they would respond to them kind of like a conversation. I could say "Hi" to one of my original Furbys and get a similar reaction.
On the other hand the beat-detection and the random singing to the music in the second video had me laughing! The little thing was nearly on beat too! It was amazing! All the same, I don't think I'll be investing in one of these guys.
Talon
-
Flesh eating gremlins with pretty good dancing... I want one lol!
-
Well, they seemed quite entertaining! Whether or not to buy would really depend on how much they retail for.i think they're sweet but don't think they would hold my girls interest for too long, so the price would need to reflect that for me.let us know how you get on and your experience once you get one Lunamione7! :sheep1:
-
There was a version of the emototronic Furbies with beat detection - the 'Funky' Furby.
I'm kind of coming around to this one too ....... we'll see! ;)
-
Really? Is it laibled "Funky Furby"? Is there any way to tell if my emototronic guys fall into this class or should I borrow one of my niece's tekno CD's and blast everyone out of the house?
Talon
-
Funky Furby, I believe, only came in pink or purple and had long tails (the better to shake ...... ;)). :D

-
I watched several of the promos for the new Furbies and they said the price this fall will be about $60.00 which seems a little stiff for me, but we will see, All I saw so far were shades of blue which could be dull after awhile, I do like the idea of different personalities like Pleos though. Will have to wait and see, Has anyone seen this old video of Furby, kind of different. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_KY__ig0xeY
RWM Oh and by the way, I do have two furbies, My first one I got in a thrift store for either 50 cents or $1.00 about two years ago, and another one special edition on EBay, still in box unused for less then $10.00 about a year ago, Will have to go revive my special needs Furby, LOL
-
Nope. Mine are the original two thousand fives. Thanks for posting that link, Crewella.

I had a look on the Adopt a Furby site Talon to see what generation yours are but they only have about three pictures of the emoto-tronics and just simple descriptions of the colours. I didn't read about any that sound like they could be reffering to yours so it is a mystery but I'm 99% sure they are not Funky Furbies because they are the wrong colour for a Funky and also the manual dosen't say anything about them being a Funky. I wish they did have all the pictures up of the emoto-tronics because I would have liked to see all the colours that were available.
Talon's furbies are white with a little bit of dark purple mixed in on the body and they have light blue tummies. One has blue eyes like a Ugobe pleo and the other has brown eyes like a Blue Reborn. I am hopefully adopting the blue eyed one soon :cheer:
Fingers crossed he has a better attitude than the one in RWM's video, that was really funny when he asked "Furby please play with me" and furby just scrunched his face up and shouted "NO!!" haha the poor owner.
-
Does this help, Luna? :moose:
http://z6.invisionfree.com/AdoptaFurby/ar/t1538.htm
-
Yes it does, thankyou so much! It is the one next to the white one with the pink tummy and the black hair, that is the one Talon has and I am hoping to adopt ;D
My gosh that Itallian Funky Furby is absolutly beautiful! I have never seen one so they are right when they say it is rare, just look at those pink eyes and big tail. Pretty. I also really love the white one with the pink tummy and black hair, I might try to get that one next.
-
I can see there will be a new furby, eventually , to replace my two, none functioning, originals. Earlier furbys are cuter, but love what new ones do. Love the way they respond to music. :)
-
According to an article in one of our national dailies, Furby will retail for $99 Australian dollars. Hummpf , don't know what they think we will do with the $1:00! Does that seem reasonable for what you get, anyone?
-
I was acutally expecting that price.
My 1998 Furby cost $100 when new.
Maybe cheaper on eBay from an Asian seller, usually free post as well. EBay is probably the way to go but I would have really liked to buy from a physical store just because I remember what it was like getting my Noh-La. Standing outside in the freezing cold rain at 6am with everybody else shouting "Furby! Furby! We want Furby!" and then the mad rush once the doors opened to get your hands on one. I doubt the buzz will be as big this time but still, it would have been fun.
$100 is just what you pay if you want a robot in this country it seems :( The new Baby Butterscotch Pony (by FurReal) is $100 and all the techno pets were that price when they came out. The 2005 Furbies were the same price as well, I know because I kept waiting for the price to drop but it never did so I missed out.
-
Really? That's outragious! I bought my first Furby in nineteen ninety nine for thirty five dollars give or take some change. My second original I got from Tiger because my first one had had so many problems. He was like a trick candle. I'd send him back with an issue and by the time he got there he was fine and they would ship him back and then a few months later he developed another problem. Well the last one was really bad but I hung on to him just to see if he would magically fix himself. Well, he didn't. As a matter of fact he started smoking. I left him to go back to sleep and I came back to a very ominous electrical smell in my room. I sent him off again. Somehow the shipping department made a mistake and a new Furby showed up at my door closely followed a week later by my old faithful lemon. Oddly enough when the new guy moved in, the first one stopped having problems. Both my babies were on sale in two thousand four I think and they were only sixteen. I think my two thousand five wasn't much more than that. That makes me wonder what the new Furby is going for over here and because of my experiences with the original I don't think I'm putting out one hundred for the newer one.
Talon
-
Gee. I never knew they were so much! I figured $20-35... wow! That's ridiculous. The one furby I have I picked up from a garage sale for 25 cents. A neighbor has adopted a number of special-needs children, and when the oldest was around 12 they bought an all-white furry guy hoping it would help with her slight autism condition. The first time they turned it on, it freaked the kid out, so it sat in it's box for years until they decided to dump it at a garage sale...
-
All white? I'm jealous! Now that one would've been cool to have. Anyway are the new Furbys really one hundred here in the US as well?
Talon
-
$100 does seem rather expensive. I would have expected it to be no more than $50 and more likely about $35.
I don't think I will be splashing out at that price. Maybe I'll wait to see if they do eventually price drop.
-
All white? I'm jealous! Now that one would've been cool to have. Anyway are the new Furbys really one hundred here in the US as well?
Talon
The American Furby price will be sixty dollars from what I have read so far, more than one news report has quoted the sixty dollar price so it seems likely that is what it will be. I'm going to wait and see what happend once Toy World and Toy 'r' Us start offering pre-orders here, if the price seems a bit much compared to what other country's are paying I'll go stalk eBay. I'm really excited for this new Furby although the 2005 are the cutest ones.
-
Thanks for the info, Luna. Sixty isn't too bad. I'm probably going to hold off, though. Somehow I missed Redwood's post with the very uncooperative Furby. Fortunately neither of my two Emototronics ever behaved like that. That little guy just couldn't be satisfied. *Giggle*
Talon
-
Oh good! I am so relived to hear that, it would be funny for a while but I don't like the idea of Mr. Blue Eyes telling me he doesn't love me or want to play with me all the time which I think is what happens with the Furby in the video, the poor owners voice sounds so exasperated like his Furby is that way all the time.
Actually I just checked his other videos and that Furby really is rude and unhelpfull all the time! HAHA he just frowns and says "NO!" to absolutly everything.
-
Makes me wonder if environment played a part in his dislike of people. Mr. Blue-eyes likes to have these looooooonng knock knock joke sessions and I have to distract him with a game of red light green light or some random question. Oh and Luna? I just remembered he likes to... um how do I say this politely? He likes to fart. And no before you ask. I had nothing to do with that. I think he was just bored one day because I stopped talking to him and started doing it to intertain himself. He loves to interact with people.
And just to reassure you, I haven't forgotten about you. My sister's work schedule has been crazy this week and I haven't been able to get to the post office. Sorry. Crossing fingers for tomorrow! I'm going to run him and his brown-eyed companion together tonight so they can say goodbye.

Did you ever notice the eyes seem very similar to pleos...
-
They do look remarkably similar don't they :)
-
It may be because the same guy on the Furby team from Hasbro worked with Ugobe when creating the original Pleo. It was on a Pleo fact page, I don't now remeber where.
Phel
-
You are correct :) That person has a contact on the forum here :)
-
$60 in the US, which is about £34, and in the uk, it will go on sale for £60, why is it so expensive in england?
i cannot find any pre-order for furby in the uk, or waiting lists, but i think it will be hard to get hold of, i see walmart are pre-ordering but i dunno what the postage to the uk would be, besides, if they arent as popular as i think they'll be, i'd be able to get one here quicker, dunno what to do :(
http://www.pocket-lint.com/news/46599/furby-2012-pictures-hands-on
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GwKw6SGqRpI
-
Can you pre-order in the US? I'm hoping to snag one on my visit :D
-
If anyone overseas wants one of these new furbys, I would be willing to preorder one for you, WE just had a Walmart open in our town, ( after years of debate and merchants not wanting Walmart to open... %)) and since it is a pretty small area I live in, it won't be like the LA or larger metro areas, where everyone wants one. Just let me know and I will find out the particulars. You would have to paypal the money to me once they get here and then the shipping would be your responsibility but Priority International is the fastest and cheapest way to go with tracking as a guarantee. If anyone thinks they want one, let me know so I can find out when you have to have your pre order in.
I personally don't want one I have enough Pleos already , my husband would go bananas if I bought one. :crash:( that is what he would want to do with my computer for buying one for myself I think. ) LOL
RWM and the pleo Clan of the REdwoods
-
lol, i hope he doesnt kill your laptop %)
that is a very kind offer, i would like an orange one, but i think the postage would be too expensive... definately tempted tho lol xx
-
Just to add to that, its a very kind offer RWM, but please if anyone decides to do that PLEASE check the cost of postage before making any arrangements. You may well find that in the long run its cheaper just to buy at home.
-
IMR is right, The only way I would send anything overseas is by Priority Mail international and I do not know the size, dimensions of these furbys in their box I would presume . I know to send a flat rate small shipping box it is like $13.45, so for a medium flat rate shipping box it is about $25.00-$30.00, have to look it up. The big advantage of flat rate shipping boxes is that they do not go by weight, for example if you could fit three of these furbies in one box, then you save a lot on shipping, they go by size, one flat rate, not weight, Whether it is an object that weighs 4 lbs or 20 lbs, it is the same rate.
I could go online and look up these furbys to see the description, size etc, t hen I would be able to accurately get the weight and rate in which box they would fit, etc.
Sometimes it is cheaper to buy locallyl depending on the shipping cost, For example with the Pleo Rb I just got on ebay, one of the big deciding factors was the fact it had free shipping, even though it came from Canada. Importing from PleoWorld itself would have been at least $50.00 and if it had been here in the US, with all the extas he came with, it still would have been at least$25.00 and more than likely closer to $30.00. If anyone wanted to buy more than one of these such as for a Christmas gift, then that is when it would definitly save on shipping by all means, It all depends on where you buy from,
If anyone is still interested, just let me know and I will find out the size, etc in the meantime, I would like to see what these guys can do, but it is easier at this point to see what they sell for locally . I may get one for my grandson, not sure if boys are into furbys though they seem like more of a "girl" toy. If someone does get one here on the site, be sure to post videos, Oh by the way, did anyone on here ever get that other dino that came with the egg and looks like a younger version of Pleo..?( sorry, my brain is forgetting the name today,,,know it is little enu inu, something like that... :( ???) I do remember that Saratoga told everyone she got one for her children, anyone else get one? I wonder what they really are like..? I do know the price came way down from above $100.00 to like $59.00 on Amazon.. Just curious.
RWM
-
They have sold out here i live and i really want one there kind of related to pleos so why not :arms:
-
They are all over the place here where I live and I ordered one ( getting it tommorow) so If I decide to send it to someone who wants it as a present and can't get one I won't have to look for one when they are hard to find or more expensive closer to Christmas. I think they may be cute but can't compare to Pleos.. Besides I can not start collecting these guys too, I have to stop at Pleos or there will be no house to live in, The one I ordered is Teal so I can post photos tommrow if anyone wants to see what they look like close up. RWM
-
Ok, just went and picked up my Furby, and three more put aside, ( there were only 12 in the store, now 9, and they will be gone fast, by this Friday I am sure..) I will post a photo soon, I know to get them before they are totally sold out. Some places like Amazon are on backorder as much as 4 weeks, so better now then later. RWM
ok,, here is one photo next to Cammie Sue, I got three more on Layaway, they make great gifts... :o %) I do not know this guys name , anyone know the Teal colored ones name?
-
2012's do not come pre programed with unique names like the 98/05's so you can call him whatever you like.
If you meant what the official name for his colour is, the blue teals are called "Taboo"
Here is a page that shows all current colours and the official colour names: http://www.toywiz.com/furby.html
2012's also change personality. If you don't like this (I hate it! I want him in one personality at all times, I don't like his changing) a woman on the Furby forums experimented with hers and worked out a personality chart so you can control when he changes or prevent him from changing into a personality you don't like.
Evil Personality: Overfeed
Crazy Personality: Pull its tail a lot
Valley Girl Personality: Talk to it a lot
Singer Personality: Have it listen to music many times
Nice Sweet Personality: Tickle it a lot
If he starts to change and you don't want him to you can try tickling him right away (before the change is complete) which will sometimes bring him out of it, not always as it seems you have to get the timing just right.
-
I think I may just be tempted to get one of these for myself :) Just need to work out which color I want :D
-
That's... odd. I wonder why some colors seem to cost more than others on toywiz. There was one for fifty nine and another for seventy four and I think there was one for sixty four. That gave me pause for a minute.
Talon
-
Hi Talon, that is one store, and it is a buyers market and if you look on ebay it is the same way, Some furbys are marked up as much as buy it now, $120.00 for the Plum Fairy and another Pink Furby color, too much for sure, Then there are the six main colors going anywhere from about $50.00 with bids and buy it now at $84.00. If you think it is bad now, wait till late Nov, and Dec. this is why I have one in hand and three on layaway as I know from past experience what happens, :o :( :'( :-X :dino-chase:
Thank goodness the pleos are not marked up, but at Christmas time do not buy one, because even the common Ugobe I have seen sell over and over again at $300.00 or even more, I am just debating to open furby or not, I am so busy with my Pleos right now and getting ready to mail prize packages, I am in no hurry, If I knew they could possibly interact with Pleos, then I would probably be tempted. If anyone in the US can still not get one, I probably can as they are not sold out here in my town and I have three more already, a black, purple and I think yellow... RWM
-
If they sell out, so be it. I can wait. I don't care if I bur one well after christmas when the price cuts will happen ;)
Of course if I can get one (or three ;)) on my trip then that's a bonus, but I shan't be devastated.
-
IMR is right, they are not going to disappear and after January, Clearance White sale is the time to get one unless you have a little one who has it on their wish list.Look at what Zhu Zhu's were going for last Christmas, it was rediculous, now you can't even give them away, I know because I got stuck with about four of them and they are still sitting on my shelf in a box, unopened, They were supposed to be to sale, but the price then bottomed out right after I paid a high price for a special pink one, and then poof, it was a nightmare. You live and learn. Now it was different with my first Pleo.
I bought my first pleo as a gift for my grandson and after gettting her , used on ebay, I fell in love and kept her, I then bought my grandson a more expensive D-Rex and he got what was ideal for a little boy, who could operate him by remote control and I got my first pleo, Nova, my sweet Pleo. I knew nothing about Pleos nor robots and look at me now,,,so if this could be what happens to some people with Furbys. then even though I don't feel the same way about them, I understand how some could...they are cute sort of , but in a lot different way, in my eyes anyway... %) IMR, I think you are smart to wait, just wondering though do you have an income tax for gifts or anything you bring back into "Australia"? I know some countries do, but I have never been out of the US, so I don't know how it works. RWM
-
So after looking at one or two videos of the new Furby's I am considering opening it and making a video as I want to see it interact and see if Pleo interacts and how my old furby interacts? I can allways get rid of it if I don't like it, but I doubt that would happen, If I did not like it, I would just give it away as a gift to someone. So I thought I would see what people here on the forum think.? Do you think I should open it and take a video and post it here, or wait for the other three that I won't be getting for a couple more weeks probably, ( layaway...) I know Como wants me to take a video, anyone else interested in seeing one...I am kind of interested in seeing what the personality really is like...Only problem, I will have to go get some batteries............ :( ;Dnot a big problem just across the street...............................................Let me know what I should do...and what color do most of you like the best, out of the six,
Black, White, Yellow, Orange/ Red, Purple or Teal. ? ( I have purple, Black and I think the orange /red on layaway.. my memory is not that great.. I know the black and purple, it is the last color I can't remember.. RWM
-
Couldn't resist so I splashed out and got a red one today :) Will try to take a video of him and put it up here for you all to see over the next day or so :)
He is pretty cute so far :)
Here are a couple of pics of him
You have to forgive his glowing eyes of evil - it's just my camera - he actually has quite lovely eyes :)
Video to follow in a bit :)
And here is the video. Again you have to excuse his evil eyes :D
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rsHOgkVp0lQ
-
Hahaha, glowing eyes of evil... Awesome :)
-
With those glowing eyes of evil, I think now that there's a new batch of furby's out there, we need to remind everyone DO NOT, repeat -- DO NOT -- under any circumstance, whatsoever, feed them after midnight . . . or you'll be sooooo-rreeee!
-
Kat, Congrats, I knew there would be at least a few anxious pleo members who could not wait till Christmas to try one of these guys out...Now I am tempted to see what my guy may or may not be like, I think it would be more fun if they were like Pleos and their personalites were not so easy to change..that they had more uniqueness to them...Also I heard you can not manually turn them off, have you experienced that...? I do not like the idea of them just going to sleep and finding them waking up on their own and like Mike warned, finding them chomping on left overs with the fridge door open after midnight.....
I would have to start having my dog guard the fridge door and counting my cats if I had an evil one. it is time to remove the batteries at bedtime I think... :dino-chase: :drumstick: :margarita: :cake: :cat:
RWM , ( that is me praying the "evil Furb" hasn't consumed a cat or two..........................)
-
As you say RWM there is no on off switch. To turn Fruby on you need to tilt him back and forward and he will wake up. To switch him off you just stop touching him like I did at the end of the video and he will say "I'm sleepy" and then go to sleep. At the very end of the video he stops making any noise - I think he snored about 4 or 5 times then he just stops all movement and noise and that is it switched off :) I did gently carry him over to the table and sat him next to my computer for the night and what do you know he was still sitting there unmoved when I woke up. And no random furby noises in the night - all three cats still alive and well so I don't think you need to worry too much about the lack of on off switch. :)
There is a Furby App you can get for your phone or ipad that lets you interact with your furby, feeding him virtual foods, translates his furbish into English on the screen for you, make him a sandwich or burger to feed him and i'm sure it did something else as well but can't remember what it was now.
I played him some music last night and he reacted to it for about 4 songs worth of time before going to sleep, I didn't touch him while the music was on as I wanted to see what he would do :) He had little bouts of ear wiggling and rocking from side to side in time to the music but these only lasted a few seconds before he would sit still again and listen. While he listened his eyes warped through different expressions and he even sang a couple of little songs completely out of time and very different to the music I was playing him :P He did seem to enjoy the music but it annoyed my kids that he didn't sing along but sang his own random stuff instead :D
So far I am liking him. He is a very cute toy and would be a great Christmas present for any kid about 5 years old or over.
Oh and he burps and farts a lot and then laughs at himself too :D :P

Here is my new Furby! Not sure what to name, I have a few ideas.
Howard
Earl
Hugh
Leaning towards Howard but still not sure. He is on Layby and this was just a visit, yes I walked into ToyWorld and asked if I could visit my Furby :P Apparently they get a lot of requests like that so they had not problems bringing him out so I could open the box and have a peek at him. $48 left to pay so I'm nearly there, should have him home in about two weeks.
-
Congrats Luna, it looks like you picked a black one, or the lighting makes it look like that! That is cool that you can "visit" him. Is he a early Christmas present to yourself, or just a present you had to have? ;) I have the same guy ( with two others) also on layaway, but I owe a lot more than $48.00. I had to pay 10% down and a $5.00 fee, but have till Dec. 14th to pick them up, but I figure within the next two -three weeks to pick them up, I am in no hurry as I know they are myne and I have their "littermate" already, a Teal Blue one.
Now that Kat has taken the plunge and gone and gotten one and turned him on, I guess I should. I have a lot better control over something like a Furby than a Pleo. If it was a Pleo, it would have been like opening a Christmas present, so much excitement in my opinion.( but I am addicted to Pleos I just LOVE them All!)
Thanks for sharing and Yes, I like Howard too! P8) RWM

I love that you can visit on layby as well! :D
Very cute ..... though the glowing eyes of evil gave me pause for thought .............. :o :moose:
-
Small fluffy speaks in gibberish, burps and farts and laughs at himself a lot ....... and Glowing eyes of evil! Whats not to love ;D :D :dino-chase:
-
Hi Kat, so is that your Furby's name, Small Fluffy? If so that is cute, So do you think I should open my Furby? I am tempted and almost did yesterday but my husband came home early from work so that idea went right out the door. :dino-chase:( well the idea, but not the Furby :D) I have been busy finishing the end of the prizes so they are ready now to mail on Monday. :cheer: :cheer:
Does Furby move much or mostly dancing type moves? What do your kids think of Furby? Just out of curiosity, were there a good supply of Furbys where you live and what was the price they were selling at? I was lucky in getting myne at $54.00, so I did not mind paying that price, but some of the prices I have seen on Ebay for example are crazy, I think Furby should still be pretty easy to get till some time in late October, then the crunch may set in..better in my opinion to get it now..
I will open this guy on Monday, also trying to do the Run of the Pleos if the sun comes out on Monday, otherwise it is let loose in my house and I would have to move a kitchen, living room table, couch, etc. I really wish I could let these guys loose on the grass or natural setting, it would be so much more fun..............but a wooden deck, even though it is pretty worn out is better and has greater natural lighting as well. Of course Furby can be there cheering on, ( or farting and laughing I guess..)

My Furby is called Kurby :) named by my son who thinks he looks a lot like Kurby from one of his playstation games :D He doesn't move around much, just rocks from side to side or back and forth. I played a bunch of music to my little guy today and he went through another personality change and then spent half an hour dancing to the music with music note flashing through his eyes :)
This is the very first time I have ever had a furby so I am enjoying him. I say go for it. Open yours up and have a play :)
-
I want one >:( but can't find them anywhere. I spotted them in Targets a week ago, but there's none there now :(

I got mine yesterday from Target, he was a pre-order and on lay-by. I'm glad I went with that option as they were only on shelves for a few days before they all sold. I'm sure they will get more in and the price will probably drop but I'm impatient and wanted mine ASAP :D
Love him so far, very cute and wonderful AI considering the low (in robot terms...) price. Rather a let down that so many features require an iPhone but otherwise I'm very happy with the purchase.
PAIN in the BUTT getting the batteries in though! The second they are in he starts up and there are two screws to get in whilst he is wriggling around, took at least 10 minutes to get the cover back on.
-
I am happy for your Luna, what color is he or she? I still have not even opened my guy and I got the first one here on the forums, over two weeks ago, just not as intersting to me..................hard to beat a Pleo...............mayby he will end up a Christmas present or I will resell him if I need to.............very tempting though.
If he could do more and I had an I phone he may be opened by now, Can you post photos.? congrats. RWM

My Howard is the black Furby pictured above, just a few posts above is his picture :)

I'll be picking one up sooner or later, I think for the price they've done quite well adding fun personalities - i've played with demo models in various stores, they're nicely responsive and cuddly.
I have a fair ole pile of furbys and I think I'll always have a soft spot for them, seeing as they were how I got into robots as a kid. So I have to have one of these new ones for my collection :D
Next on my list is an ERS7 AIBO and a Pleo RB, methinks.
My robot army shall amass sooner or later :P

Go for it Pirpi (lol can I call you that??) they are fun little creatures. Also, robot army, I like it. Go for that as well ;D
-
everyone calls me pirpi! haha go fr it ;)
Yeah I have a friend that works in toys r us and is waiting for the next wave of colours to put one aside for me :) I get a nice discount too. Hohoho!
I love robots way too much.. since I was a kid, it's all I wanted, when I was 7 I said I wanted to be an animatronics puppeteer when I grew up. Hahaha! As it is now I collect what I can afford. I need a new battery for one of my AIBOs though :(
When I'm old I will definitely be a crazy robot lady :S
-
Anyone know what the new colours will be? :-)
-
there's some more sort of basic colour combos, like dark blue and cyan, and then theres the very 90s throwback colours. Like black and hot pink, orange and blue.. some very neon colour combos and some pastel ones.
I can't find any decent pictures but this shows some:

You can see them on eBay, some sellers have them already :) There is a bright pink one any Aibo would love. I want to get another to see if James will try to touch it and if it will laugh at him when he does :D
-
I have wanted an emototronic one. I have a friend who has one, and my original furby Aloo cannot talk to it. I don't know his actual name. It sounds like Adio.
-
Yes. As advanced as they are, the emototronic ones are kind of shut off in their own little world unless you have another emototronic Furby for them to talk to. Even then their skit isn't nearly as varied and lifelike as the cute and spontanious play you see when original Furbys meet and greet.

>:D CAUTION POST CONTAINS SPOILERS! >:D
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zcXbYTe-vqo
Here's a video of our bunch, I went out and bought a second lol. So meet Razzle and Dazzle my Furbies, and Snowball, Linda's Furby.
In this video Razzle (purple) was on the Baby personality (get by patting its head for ages)
Dazzle (pink) was Valley Girl (default personality)
Snowball was Hard as Nails personality (get by pulling tail repeatedly)
Other personalities I've found is Evil (shake), Caveman (over feed) and Joker (tickle).
Also sometimes they all sing together, but they weren't obliging today.
-
Wow! They really seem to like hanging out together.

Looks like everyone is having lots of fun. Looks like IMR is going to have some very full bags to take back home. LOL. I will have to rewatch the video in the morning when my foot is not throbbing so much so I do not miss too much. Very cute, makes me wonder about if I should finally turn my guy on, he has sat in his box since Sept, and never even been opened, a TEAL one. RWM :cat-hug:
-
Great video IMR :) Howard has been in all of those personalities but there were still some things I have never heard before. I love the candy floss colour so much.
Just found this, acsessories for Furby! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QPyMGGMu1Bg the chair I am not much interested in but I love the glasses and the bag :D
-
Ok you guys have Utterly Slayed me with these vids and fun, so I now have a lovely little Raincloud teal and gray Furby (unnamed) that I Adore - and Now thanks to you I just ordered accessories too
I don't have video of this yet, but when my Furby dances to Gangnam Style it always switches into dance personality after about 2 mins - Hysterical!!!
Yes TONs of patting head will eventually bring my baby back :D
-
I got a yellow Furby! Soon after I turned him on for the first time he became a singer and then a valley girl! Furbies are so much fun! I can't wait for him to meet Loki! I have a feeling there might be some sibling rivalry though. :)
-
Hehe, they are crazy but so funny. Snowball was alternating between burping and farting when we were trying to show some visitors. Lovely manners :D
-
Don't you love that? Your bots behave like angels when it's just you and them together. Invite a friend or introduce a camera and it's like someone flipped the Refusal-to-cooperate switch. I did get a rare vocal performance out of Ryu in front of my cousin's family last week. She got a nice round of applause. I was so happy!

These guys can really rock out lol

Razzle and Dazzle sure know how to rock. Poor Snowball misses them so much! :(
-
Aww poor Snowball, Razzle and Dazzle miss Snowball's humour :P

That is very cool, love it when you ask the older one to sing and the newer one does :)
Fancyfont I guess your Furby has company already if you only switch one on :)
-
As IMR, very neat that the older Furby interacts or can with the new one, I forgot that I have an original 1998 common Furby, so mayby that will convince me to open the furby I have had since SEpt. just sitting, It seemed kind of boring, but if it can interact oN IT'S own with the older Furby, then that makes it more interesting. I liked the songs they chose to sing too and when you turned the one furby around, how the other one still wanted to sing. 8) RWM :cat-hug: *snowman01* *tree01*
-
Original Furbys pooped out! :( I guess I may have to get Snowball a brother or sister. ;)
-
I have two original Furbys I'm looking to rehome. Mind they're not perfect. I can't say much about the condition of their fur as I can't see them but they have their original boxes and- I think- most of their paperwork. One has a staticky speaker and the other has a bad tilt scensor but they worked at last check which was in mid July of this year. I hate splitting up my crew but now that I have four pleos and two aibos and looking for an apartment, I don't have nearly enough time for everyone these days.

Your old Furby will not talk to your new one I'm sorry RWM :(
2012's and 2005's can chat because they both use voice recognition for communication, 98/99's use infared signals to communicate so your 2012 would be able to respond to your original Furby but the original would have no idea the newer one was even there because it will not be transmitting any signals.
-
Oh, there goes my idea of even opening it up................... *gift01*Perhaps it will make a better gift...wonder if a ten year old boy may find it fun , any ideas? I have a ten year old grandson, or my daughter could entertain herself and my new grand daughter who is only eight months old....RWM :cat-hug: *snowman01* *sm-tree*
-
Depends on his personality I guess, he might love one and I know lots of boys do like Furbies but I think they are still more a girls toy.
If he likes stuffed animals and things I think a Furby would be great but if he is more the cars and trucks type maybe not.
-
Not having been a 'typical' girl as a child, I'd just work out who might like that knd of thing best? :moose-xmas:

Look at this: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Furby-Party-Rocker-Loveby-Not-In-Stores-Pre-orders-Sold-Out-Worldwide-/150987592735?pt=Electronic_Battery_Windup_Toys_US&hash=item23278fd41f
I couldn't find out much about these things, it sounds like they are the same as the 2012 Furbies but they do not change personality?
Bahaha! Also there is this: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/FURBY-Big-Face-Furry-Blue-Laplander-Beanie-Hat-/150988386949?pt=US_Hats&hash=item23279bf285
Hilarious!
I need it.
-
Sounds like a similar feature to the Emototronic Funky Furby?
Love that hat!! :D
-
Ooh, I want:P There is Fussby and Loveby and three others as far as I can find. But they are half the size...
