Yes, I saw this early this morning via an email and checked it out. Not too many rules but the deadline of May 26th, which is two days before my birthday , NIce contest but not specific enough if they want Pleos with family, with pets or  it can be just family or friends but I would assume with Pleo. Of course if you don't have a pleo yet, it has to be one of the other ones. Good luck to everyone, and if I am correct, it is this time, only Photos, no Videos. I know I  will look through old photos and taking new ones. I love ones with animals and with other people, but not myself.

I didn't see how many Pleos there were or if this is just for one Pleo RB? If they are giving away just one, it is going to be very very tough indeed, but still fun!
Good luck to all of you Pleo Lovers. P:)                RWM

I entered this one:

I hope I don't win :P But I feel like I should be supportive given the number of entries last time out.

That is a very nice photo IMR. If you did win, you could allways offer it to someone else and thank Innvo, but you know how contagious Pleos are and you could change your mind. :) It is also a nice way to get things moving. I saw this morning and there was just the photo of Pleo with the rabbit and I commented on that. But between now and May 26th, I am sure a lot more photos will come in. also because this is being advertised on the Hong Kong site, maybe there will be more participation from overseas, the Hong Kong market, We will just have to wait and see.

Your sister looks like she likes Pleos too. Does your sister have any pleos? If she would love one, she could enter too perhaps...just a thought.              RWM

How do you enter the competition. I cant seem to find it on pleoworld.com. Can someone post a link?

You enter via facebook Greyman :) Go to Innvo Labs Pleo.

Thanks RWM, I deliberately chose a not too high resolution image, so hopefully they choose someone more worthy! Melinda doesn't have a Pleo, but she is currently borrowing Jumba.

RWM They are giving away two pleos  :)
"Each participant may submit more than one photo during the same upload period but each participant will only be awarded one prize at most." Does that mean I need to upload all my pictures at once or I can add multiple pictures over the course of the contest?
Title: Re: International Photo Contest
Post by: RedwoodsMama on April 27, 2012, 09:39:52 AM
I think Mike is best to answer that, but I think what they mean about the uploading photos part , is that of course you can only win one Pleo, but that you can upload as many photos as you want during the upload period.( translation I think, it that you an can upload as many photos that you want during the time between now and when the contest ends, which is May 26th. ) They do not specify a specfic time such as 12:00 midnight on the 26th, and since they are in a different timezone, I would make sure my photos are uploaded at least by the day before and the earlier the better.

I have no idea how they are going to judge and how many entries they will get but it could be surprising to get the Hong Kong market involved, there could be a lot more than there were in the last contest and with only two Pleo Rb, it is going to be tougher, so good luck and most of all, Have Fun taking those Photos! :)                        RWM and the Pleo Clan of the Redwoods P;D

I am so excited! I think it will be very, very hard to win though, there will be lots of people entering and only two prizes. I am going to try hard, Stephan wants a blue RB friend to play with!  ;D

What does it mean in the entry form when it says "I am willing to receieve eDM from PLEO rb"?

I didn't check that box, but I assume they are talking about e-direct marketing. IE. Junk mail from them, if you are signed up for the eblast you already get it ;)

Im sorry but im not entering the contest because it is -CENSORED- and they only pick the person with the most pleo's and products so i wont waist my time on this one   :head-wall: :crash:

Mod note: Please don't use language like that here, this is a family friendly site. Thank you.

Hi Camaro - I'm not sure what about this comp makes you think that way.  It seems to me reading the instructions that this particular comp is aimed at people who don't have pleos.  They have asked for pics of you with your family doing something happy - no pleos there, or you with your friend - again no pleos necessary, or you with your pets - still no pleos and lastly if you can't fit into the other categories you can enter a pic of you with your pleo.  I think they know they will get entries from people with pleos so they put the last category there knowing it was going to happen any way.  It looks to me like they really want people who don't have pleos to enter this one.  A big difference from the last comp which was aimed at people who already had a pleo.
If you don't enter then your chances of winning are 0 so give it a go :)  i hope they pick someone who doesn't already have a pleo as the winner as it is a great way to get new people interested in pleo :)  If I was to enter i'd submit a pic with no pleos in it at all.  I'm sure you have lots of happy moment pics around so why not dust one of and submit it.  Give yourself a chance  ;D

The last contest was a bit of a fiasco, but given that they have a proper entry form this time around it does seem they are doing things better this time around.

It was unfortunate that I did win last time, because although I am always excited to have a new arrival, I didn't really care about winning. However the utter confusion at the end of the contest bugged me an awful lot. I really shouldn't enter, but at the same time I want to show my support for Innvo so they keep running competitions like this. If no one enters then why bother running them. All the same I hope the winner this time is someone who really deserves a Pleo.

But I do have to say that although they already had Pleo's I really felt the RWM, Latrine, Kat, Crewella and Fancyfont really deserved to win. RWM entered a million photos, Latrine was very ill and Pleo's provide her with some comfort, Kat and Crewella do amazing work on this site and for Pleo's in general, Crewella pioneered the surgery to repair our Pleo's! Kat undertook a huge operation to get Sparky up and running. And Fancyfont had lost dear family and her Pleo helped ease the pain. Innvo didn't know any of that of course, and they wouldn't know how many Pleo's a person had unless they were in the photos.

You should enter Comaro, you may not win, but at least you had a go.

You know it is strange cause I see the enter contest page where you fill out the name, age, gender, etc and then upload a photo and tells something about it, but there is nowhere on the site where I can see ANY of the photos submitted by anyone, not even IMR's! Is there another page I am missing? Can someone post where you find the photos, it would be nice to see them or are they the only ones able to see the entries? %)                RWM

I decided to enter my multiple exposure portrait of Sparky's playdate

that we shared a few months ago.  It's probably not what they are looking for (too "artsy" and no people!) but what the hell.

I entered a few days ago with this pic
They asked for happiest moments photos and this has to be one of the happiest moments we had  :)  I'm not in it as I was the photographer, my OH was still off skiing but this is my two kids after their first day of skiing.  We don't get snow where we live so you can imagine how excited they were when we went on holiday to America just to play in the snow  ;D

They do look very happy so I understand why you entered it, also moms are allways proud of their children and learning to ski is tough, It was for me anyway.  ;D I guess some of my photos are going back a long way as my kids are not kids anymore so I will look through the photo albums...I guess the entries only show up here and not online where anywhere else can see them,,,so that is interesting indeed.............RWM

Here's the original topic Chicago posted last year.  He explains it all here:  http://bobthepleo.com/forums/index.php?topic=2383.msg36790#msg36790

This is Sparky's father writing.  Willow, you are correct; there are 33 Pleos in the photo.  They are all Sparky. (Sparky's eyes are actually green and her necklace is gold pearls.)  The photo shoot took about an hour.  With the camera on a tripod, I took 33 separate shots while Sparky's mother moved her from one location to another.  I then loaded each photo as a layer in a single Photoshop file.  I then used layer masks to make Sparky appear in multiple places at the same time.  It really isn't that hard if you know what you're doing.  The whole process took about an hour.  I'm glad you all enjoyed the photo.  Unfortunately, we haven't found any other Pleos in our neighborhood for Sparky to play with. :(

Has anybody tried uploading more than one photo?
After uploading my first picture it sent me to a page that said something along the lines of "thank you for submitting your photo".  When I submitted my second picture, a little grey box appeared that said "Please do not repeat as it have been submitted".  Then, it automatically took me back to a blank contest entry form ???  Does that mean the picture I just sent went through or do you think it means I'm only allowed to send one in and I've already done that?

I too only entered once so not sure if you can have more than one entry.

They say you can enter more than once, but only one photo at a time, then it takes you back to a blank entry form again. The photos that anyone and everyone has entered do not show up where the public can see them, so who knows how many entries there are? There haven't been many photos uploaded  here either so not sure what that means. I did see one cute photo today but I think it is one not from an entrant, but the site itself...not sure..

Just enter as many times as you want, can't hurt if it is one or ten I think....                  RWM and the Pleo clan of the Redwoods

I tried to send a second picture but got the same as pickelish - a box saying it has already been submitted.  :moose:  It was definitely a different picture, and I tried logging out and in again but no go? Lunamione, how did you enter more than one picture? Also, the 'rules' said you submit a photo and caption of up to 30 words....am I just missing the caption bit or is it not there?!  ???

I also did not find anywhere to write a caption about my photo when I entered.  So I just entered it without one.

I could not write a caption either :(

For submitting my pictures I didn't do anything special really I just uploaded one and then clicked the 'Photo Competition' button again and it gave me the form to fill out again. I assume they are all submitting properly but since no one else has been able to upload more than one perhaps mine are not submitting properly and I'm actually not uploading anything?? :o

I can't check because you can't see the submitted pictures. Now I'm worried my pictures are not going through  :'(
Title: Re: International Photo Contest
Post by: kaiteee on May 16, 2012, 04:48:10 AM
well, from my (admittedly dodgy!) memory, the first picture I uploaded did not have anything to say it was done, I think it just kind of finished.... Then I clicked the photo competition button again, got the form, filled it in, but that led to the message along the lines of 'you already submitted' even though it was a different picture. So, assuming my memory is remotely accurate, I'd guess there is no confirmation when it goes well and all of yours are going through - though it is a mystery why some of us get an already submitted message and some don't?

I don't know whether to bother with anymore, as it is impossible to tell whether they are going through but I am assuming not as I get what looks like an error message. And it is taking a very looooong time for each one.

Lunamione, I did see that someone has asked on the facebook page about their pictures and got a response quickly so it might be worth trying that (altho I don't know that the response fully confirmed anything)

How come you don't enter wicked...? Why not just enter a facebook account, they are really simple to sign up to. I would if I was you. I have entered one or two but will enter a few more, I would like to have a boy, one blue for my gilrs. I also would love to win as my birthday is a couple of days after the deadline, that would be the greatest birthday present I ever had, except for my Grandson. ;D ;D ,My daughter was induced on my birthday and my grandson was born on my birthday back in 2004! So even when I am old and grey, it wil be easier I think to remember his birthday..............as long as I can remember myne..LOL,

I wish there was a way to see all the entries, but for some reason, they don't want us to, so that is the way it is I guess. P:)

This is Sparky's father.  I am not on Facebook either, but what I did was sign up just to enter my photo.  All you have to do is use a secondary email account that you never use and make up a password.  You don't have to do anything else.  Don't fill out a profile and don't search for friends.  I haven't heard anything back from Facebook since and have never logged in again.  Unfortunately, there are now many things you might want to do online that require a Facebook account.  You just as well give in.  They will soon control everything.

So the contest submitting time is over and now we wait. The winner is going to be announced on the 4 June, it is going to be so hard to wait!
Did you end up entering Wicked?

I'm not going to post the photo I submitted because it is so embarrassing :P if I am lucky and I win I'm sure they will show it to everybody themselves and I may die from the embarrassment but it would be worth it to have a ReBorn.  ;D

The anticipation is awefull! Like waiting for Santa when you were little.

Luna, don't be embarrased, I hope you and Stephan win, I went out this afternoon and had one good go at it, and at least a hundred or so people saw Pleo, I took  Cammie Sue with me and had lots of video time and at least ten to twelve people along with a whole group of little 10 year old girls sat with me and Cammie and petted her. I had all sorts of people comming up and asking about Pleo . We were at a big annual event, ( which I taped, the perfect place to introduce Pleos. P:)) Even if I  don't get good photos out of all the videotaping, ( it is hard to hold a camcorder and try to talk for twenty minutes or more all at the same time.) At least a lot of people were happy to see and hear about Pleos. One young guy when another person asked how much she cost, I said, take a guess, and he said a couple thousand dollars,  ;D, so I told them how much and they were pretty impressed at how "little" she was with what she could do. I had no negative comments at all. I had a lot of fun, but got pretty stiff and cold, but well worth it. The second day of this 3 day event starts tommow at noon and I will be there to take more  Pleo video. I hope I got some good photos I can use for this compettition.
I would love to get a boy, for Cammie Sue and Baby Ruth. It would be a perfect birthday present as my birthday is right around the corner, and I know I am not getting any others, just whatever I eat.

I can't wait to see all the photos people took, I hope they post them, Well, two hours left to edit, so good luck everyone! :)               RWM and the Pleo Clan of the Redwoods

I am really disappointed as I spent a couple of hours today taking video and photos showing Pleos to everyone at a gathering with lots of people. It is 11;06 PST, and when I went to facebook to upload my photos competition, it had already ended! I saw nothing that said it ended before Midnite, unless they are a day ahead or another time zone, so I couldn't enter any photos, and I spent so much time today getting great shots of Pleo with people who love him/ her... :( WHey did they stop before mindnight when on the West coast it is later then elsewhere. still MaY 26th for another  hour almost? I will have to ask them why they stopped before midnight, I saw nothing in the rules that mentioned it....

You are right IMR, and I would have thought they stated the time not just the date, so I guess I should have thought of yesterday as being the close not today for their time.. Oh well, I did get in one or two photos not just the best, I did have a great outing today and introduced Pleo, Cammie-Sue to over twenty individual people at least and over a hundred saw her, so it was still a great day and I will post video of the adventure tommorow after resting...I hope they post all the photos it would be nice to see what everyone;s looked like.  :)                              RWM

Congrats to phelicadea, I am glad both winners were Forum winners, I still think that forum winners participate in general, more than other people.

If you look at the contest rules, because they are in Taiwan, (overseas) the two choices they give you are either a PINK or a BLUE, there is no mention of a green Pleo RB as a choice. I also like the randomness, and in all honestly the color variation of the eyes, If I had won, I would have chosen Blue so I would be sure to get a Boy , so it couldl interact with the female Rb I have. I am sure with both winners in the U.S, you should get them about the same time, Can't wait to see them, Congrats again to both Luna and You.                  RWM and the Pleo Clan of the Redwoods P:-*

I'm frantically looking through all of IMR's instructional videos so that I will know what to do with him when he gets here, I was planning on buying a Reborn if I didn't win anyway but sometime late in November/December... since I did win he will be here a lot sooner than I anticipated and I'm not prepared! I have loads of screwdrivers but none little enough to install the clock battery I don't think so I will have to get one of those and I will need another power adapter and more baby socks and clothes to protect the skin, and a box to put all the food/toys/learning stones in so I don't loose them.

I've had the name picked out already (decided on it several months ago) he will be called TRON after the character in the 1982 film ;D I love that movie so much, I would love to go play inside the computer world, Tron is the security programme and the hero of the film :)

In the email we got to announce the contest it said we could chose blue, pink or green.  I kinda hope that's right because I'm really leaning toward green.

Thanks again everyone!

I also thought the choice was between Pink or Blue, if you really want a green there is no harm in asking I guess. Still have not heard from anyone, I slept by the phone just in case although I'm quite sure they will email since international phone call would cost them a lot.
Let me know when they contact you Phel so I can stop worrying if I put my email address in correctly or not :P

will do Luna.   Haven't heard anything yet either.  I imagine they'll get around to it eventually.

It would be worth both of you checking your facebook messages.  With the last contest they ran they contacted the winners via a facebook message.
I think I remember then saying there was two prizes, and the contest was being split into two geographical areas with one winner from each.  One area was being offered the green and the other was a choice between pink or blue.  That's what I remember.  :)

WooHoo! We have contact  ;D
Got the call at about 7:15 tonight, they have my address and my BLUE pleo reborn will be on his way soon :)

Now instead of sitting by the email/phone I'm going to sit by the letterbox :P

Also we only get to choose between blue and pink Phel.

Great news to both of you. It makes sense that if you live in the US, you get the green, and overseas, the blue or Pink is more appropriate, and besides it sounds like you both got what you wanted, so woo hoo, hatching on the way.

I got half my prize today  :) I got all the learning stones, foods and a birthday card. No Pleo yet, the postman had a really good look in his truck in case he missed it but it for sure wasn't there today, he says because it is a robot it is most likely held up in customs and will take a few more days.
I'm thinking by the end of the week though, it was really exciting to see the stones and food! The birthday card is bigger than I thought, I did not know I was going to get one of those so it was a really great surprise ;D

And I got my Pleo first.  Arrived today at 10am.  But I have no extra foods or learning stones.  I'll post up pictures soon.

His diagnoses is... It's a BOY!  He has the more cool green head with what appear to be brown eyes (he's not awake yet, waiting for battery to charge)

Hope yours arrives very soon, Luna

● This subject embryo will grow to be brave and independent.
● This subject embryo will be gentle, healthy and agile.

From the website report.  If I remember correctly that's exactly what my other RB's is.  They should mingle well, once he's past the hatchling stage.

Luna, hope you get your Pleo tomorrow and I get my foods and things too!

;D He is here now!!  :bowing:

Battery is charging so the wait is on. I am wondering if he will have normal eyes for his colour or if he will have special eyes like a green rb because on his box and papers it says to expect unique eye colour, I guess I find out in 4 hours  :D
He feels so different than Stephan, I can feel he has a stronger neck and he is taller and not as fat  :P he also was not sticky and does not smell. Stephan was sticky and smelt rather off putting for his first few days, I still do not like the way his skin feels and have to put clothes on him to be able to touch him. Tron's skin is great though! So much texture and no smell or sticky feeling, he will wear clothes all the time as well but it is nice to have the different skin.

I am trying to register him but am a bit confused: where do I find his Security Code? The number on the back of his card is the Serial Number?

Also he came with an Australian adapter! So I didn't need to buy that extra US/AUS adapter after all  :P

**EDIT**

I just watched IMR's 'what is in the box' video again and I am missing the instruction manual  :'( It was not packaged with the leafs and tug of war rock as shown in IMR's video and it is not anywhere else to be found. What do I do? I need the number from that book to register him.

Oh yay, 'bout time they put in an Aussie plug :P And woohoo on your new arrival :D The four digit security code is in the instruction manual.

No instruction manual... I don't think that's happened before :P Just send an email to Innvo, I'm sure they'll fix it all up, don't forget to include your Pleo's serial number on his foot.

Oooohhh, congrats Luna!!  That's so exciting I can't wait to hear if the eyes are a special color or not, that'd be fantastic.  As has been said I'm afraid the security code is on the last page of the instruction manual so you'll have to email Innvo, but I imagine they'll be very easy to work with.

Did yours come from two separate shipping companies?  It seems odd that they'd give you one package in the morning and the other in the evening if it was from the same shipping company...

Both parcels were sent by FedEx and the food came yesterday and the Pleo today, I think because of the time difference it would seem to you like they came on the same day  ;)

Just hatched him, hazel/yellow eyes  ;D He is just sleeping and eating right now, I am holding him and he is snoring. I got Stephan awake to meet him and the first thing he does is say "Hello!" which he has never done before  :cheer:

I think I got some cute video, camera battery died half way through because I was too impatient to wait for it to charge as well.

New Owners Question: Tron seems a lot warmer around the battery area than Stephan, is this normal? I can feel the heat all through his back and shoulders, Stephan has never gotten hot like this. I'm sure its nothing to worry about since he is working fine (touch wood) but you know  :-[

I bought Belle just to get those amber eyes!  ;D

So glad he got there, welcome Tron!  :D

Yes, the RB's do seem to get hotter than the Ugobes a few have mentioned it. :)

So I told the Innovo people that Tron is missing his companion guide and they totally didn't believe me  :P

"It is in with the leaf"
No it is not.
"Have another look, it is in with the leaf"
It is still not there....
"If you have lost the companion guide which is in with the leaf you can download a new one from PleoWorld"
I will still be missing the security code to register him.
"The code is on the quick start guide"
 ???

*looks at quick start guide* Oh. So it is  :-[ After all that I had the code the whole time, in a really obvious place (there is a sticker saying 'Here is your security code' in big letters) on the quick start guide. Haha how embarrassing  :D

Still can't register though, it says his serial number is invalid. I am typing it correctly but it doesn't want to accept. I guess it is no big deal if he can't be registered? I really want an egg picture though so if someone with a blue RB can take a screen shot of theirs in its egg that I could pretend is Tron I would be happier  ;)

Belle's security code didn't work when I got her either.  I gave them the security code I had and they sorted it out for me in the end.

Not that I can remember ...... I have a look to see if I kept a pic at the time. :)

There's no codes on my QuickStart guides :P Maybe there is on Yuki's since she's newer, but she's at the new house right now and I'm not so I'll have to check later.

Just contact Innvo again and tell them the code isn't working, I know it's a pain but you get more than just the photo.
