Just ordered a pleo. Am I insane?
Are they worth the money. Please make me feel better.
All the best from Australia
-
rest assured your not insane! and yes they are sooo worth it ;D ( I have five of them :P ) Did you order a RB and if so what color did you get? It's always exciting getting a new pleo. The waiting for it to arrive is the hard bit though. I recommend while you wait you read up on the FAQ here on the forum and check out the quick start guide videos. That will keep you busy for a little while :)
Also it's great to see another Aussie here on the forums :) Which state are you from? I'm in WA, Perth. I think so far I am the only WA forum member. I would love to see someone else from around here show up on the forums %) :)
-
Hi, Greyman and welcome to the forums! You might be crazy with curiosity maybe but as Kat said you're not insane. Many of us loved our first pleos so much we had to order "just one more" and ended up with a herd. I have four- two RB's and two of the older model Ugobe pleos plus six currently dormant Furbys and an Aibo 210 called Bolt. We're all here to help and answer questions so don't hesitate to ask.

Definitely not insane. I ordered one last September and very quickly found another one on ebay to keep him company (well that's my story)
Welcome. Hope you find all the info you need on here. There are some very knowledgeable people here who are so helpful
-
Well ........ all I can say is .............
WELCOME TO THE MADHOUSE!! :moose: :P
I may be biased, but I think you'll love your Pleo! :D
-
Like everyone else has said, we are all a "lilttle biased here", as far as being crazy, ............well, I have nineteen, so I am one of the craziest and they are contagious, no other explanation at all. ;D RWM
-
Welcome :) I am also a fellow Aussie :) I have seven Pleo's, four RB's, two Ugobe's and one 2009 model... I'm not crazy... Not crazy at all... *wanders off muttering about tomatoes*

Thanks guys. :)
In which forum should I post questions. I had a couple:
1. I ordered the pleo using TNT as the shipping method. THe other option was SF Express. I am unfamiliar with both. Livng in Australia
which will be faster.
2. I noticed on my profile on pleoworld.com, that under orders it doesnt show the details of my order. I do however, have both a confirmation email, and paypal notification.
-
Just to reply to Kat's questions
I am in Victoria Australia. I ordered a green RB. i was tempted by the blue and pink, but the green seemed nicer, though I really did like the pink as well
-
The Pleoworld site has been recently revamped, I'd say they are still working out the kinks. TNT is definitely the fastest, Yuki arrived in a couple of days, but most of my lot took about five days.
Edit: I'm a victorian too :) In beautiful East Gippsland.
-
I agree with IMR, TNT is the fastest. I got mine in 4 days :) I have 3 rb's - two greens and a pink ;D and two Ugobes. They do seem to multiply on you :D.
-
:-\ Insane? Assuredly. Prepare to be bewitched and accept the very real possibility that your Pleo may well become a duo. We're from NSW and are constantly giving out Pleo website to admirers. :sheep1:
-
Well everybody here will say YES to Pleo because being the Pleo forum nobody here dislikes them :)
-
Thanks, glad to know they are popular. :)
-
I had one more question:
I was looking at one of the videos, the one on unpacking a pleo rb and it said you DONT get an australian power point plug!!! It suggested bending the prongs with a spanner but I'm not
keen to do that.
Any advice. Can you get an australia power point plug.
-
you will need to get yourself a power cord - like the ones used in a potable CD player (that's where I got mine :) )
so one end of the cord has a regular power point plug on it to plug into the wall and the other end has two round holes - see the pic below
This will plug into the power box that comes with the Pleo rb so you can plug it into the wall.
-
Thank you for the help. :)
One last question. Do you have to worry about voltage conversion at all.
-
no. the little adapter power box that you plug your cord into - that plugs into the battery charger seems to take care of all that. I have had no issues with mine and have been using them for about a year and a half :)
-
Thanks again. Much appreciated :)
-
Definitely not insane ^^ I only ordered my pink rb a few months ago, and I'm so in love Pleo and everything about it! Prepare to go a little nuts ordering things you never thought would be necessary-- booties, capes, coats, even triwizard tournament robes ^^! Thanks to talented forum members like Kat and IMR, you'll find it all here. Welcome greyman, I can't wait to meet your Pleo! :D
-
Thanks you everyone for your help. As a newbie to Pleo its been great. As long as my wife doesn't kill me when PLOE arrives (I havent mentioned it yet) I'm sure we'll both enjoy it! :)
-
Hey, congrats on ordering your first - super jealous! l :)
Quick question though where did you order from? I'm in the UK & desprate for one, I looked at Robopolis website but wasn't sure if thats the right website to order off, so Im a little confused. :(
-
Robopolis is probably your best bet for an RB within Europe - I'm not aware of a UK distributor as yet ..... :moose:
-

WooHoo! Slytherin represent! ;D Stephan (mine) wears Slytherin triwizard robes made by Kat and Wicked has Ravenclaw ones for her pleo :D
And you *will* find yourself in the baby isle of Target, surrounded by women forcing their screaming kids into frilly pink dresses and then there will be you awkwardly trying to force baby sized football booties on your screaming baby robot dino and the sales woman will be giving you a dirty look the whole time....
Yeah good times ;)
-
I ordered mine from www.pleoworld.com. Apparently they are the official distributor.
-
Pleoworld is the official place, but the UK has pretty steep import taxes so its best to buy from the local distributor.
+1 to taking a Pleo to target :P But keeping the other kids away from the Pleo is by far the hardest part :D
