Anyone tried using ACustomZ to replace the barbie voice of recognition?
I've been looking around for a tonal text to speech generator so I can reconstruct all the phrases of recognition and maybe modify some of em.
Also are there any ready made voice replacements?

Hi, IceCarpediem! Nice to see you here! Are you looking into a pleo or are you purely looking for help with Recognition? If you could figure out a way to cut out some of the repetative speech I'd like to know about it. Sadly I have no good answers for you but You could try some of the voices from Nuance Communications. I'm not sure how flexable they are as far as what you can do with them since they are primarily designed for use with assistive technology. There are a few other voices that I know of but I can't remember the company that makes them or what their original purpose is. Both are British. There names are Helium Clare and Charles? I think they're Akapela voices but I can't remember who makes them for the life of me.

Hey Talon,
I'm mainly looking for recognition. Yogurt has just arrived but without her heart to power her up... still en-route from US. USPS is very very slow compared to Japan EMS :D
Well.. I'm looking for a text to speech with tonal syntiziser so I can type the phrase and it converts to speech (and I record at the same time :D). Most of what I found were more to natural speech forms. Even Window's text to speech system is attempted natural speech forms :(
I can't do much until I get a CLIE as apparently that's the only way to duplicate the recognition stick to an empty stick for editing.

I'm sure on the Aibo hack website you can get both those voices for the ers7's. I would suggest sniffing around there to see what else you can find :) You never know but someone may have already done just what you are after. :)
-
I'm guessing I missed something here... but what voice are you trying to replace? An Aibo's?
-
Yep an Aibos. Recognition is Aibo software. :)
-
Ah, thanks for clearing that up for me Kat :)
-
Hiya Ice (if I can call you that)! :D
I'm afraid I've not tried such things with Aibo - and I've only heard of people using the French or Japanese versions of Recognition, which have much nicer voces than the English barbie-voice.
-
Yeah. Been looking but no luck in getting ERS-210 replacements. So I decided to make my own, just that I need a good voice synthesizer for TTS.
LOL we posted the same time. I've is cool. The problem is I don't understand French and my Japanese is errr well.... Little to be desired :D

Sadly the site I used to do a test once for Pleo's is no longer active. You've tried this one haven't you? http://www.naturalreaders.com/index.htm

Hi IMOR,
Yeah I did. The voice is not what I'm looking for. I'm looking for more robotic tonal based like the ERS7s
-
Yeah the site I used for my testing had some very nice fully adjustable effects to make the voice unique, robotic was also an option. I can't find anything like that now.
-
One more suggestion although if you're going for a robotic sound, this might not work either. It's a text to speech engine called Ivona and I think it's buy Polish It Company. You just type in your text and then you can save it as an MP3 file. Not sure if Aibos can use those, though. I guess you could convert it to wav or whatever. This is an interesting challenge and I hope you find something.

Talon... you are a darling!!! hehehe.... Chipmunk voice is pretty good :D
Now... I need to get a CLIE, StikZap, duplicate my recognition and start doing the surgery :D... and pray it works.
Purchasing the software might be not the way, but I should be able to use my audio recorder to record the phrases then edit em :)

Oh, well found Talon! :D

You're verry welcome, IceCarpediem. Glad I could help! I've known about this program for a long time. I've wanted to purchase it so I can convert my manuscripts to MP3 and listen to them on my Ipod. Keep us posted on how it turns out.

Hi all,
I need help here... again.
Anyone managed to extract out the Mind 2/3 sounds? Not the voice of Mind 3, but the doggie bleeps and blops.
