Title: Pleo costumes
Post by: kat on February 24, 2012, 06:16:43 AM
I have a few ideas for costumes for pleos so I thought I would try them out and see what you all thought.  If there is enough interest then I'll add them into my shop. :)
So here is my first one.......
A Ladybug  ;D

I'll add more pics to this thread as I make up each of my creative ideas.  Let me know what you think. %) :)

Very cute Kat, I have some ladybug material I made a outift of for my Pleos but I love the red material and the hat and antennae are so cute! Good job!

Kat, it's adorable! O.O ooh did you use pipe cleaners for the antennae? :D I miss pipe cleaners, I may just go out one day and buy a bag and bend them all just for fun! :) hehe but it really is nice, I can't wait to see the rest! My vote is to definitely add it to your shop. (:

Yep I did use pipe cleaners inside the antennae.  It was the easiest way I could think of to give them the right shape.   :P
They do have the same black velvet as the hood covering over them so that they have the right look. :)

Ok here is costume idea number 2!  ;D  A turtle  ;D
If I end up making these to sell I would make the shell edge longer so that it sticks out past the pipe cleaner edging that you can see here.  That way it will look more like a real turtle shell.  For a first try I think this turned out quite well but it is only a proto type as the design needs to be tweaked before it would be ready to make as an item to sell.
I added the pipe cleaner in a tube to the rim of the shell after I had completed the garment as I felt it needed a little lift.  In reality I would sew this on long before the whole thing was put together so it would be more hidden with the shell over hanging the edge to cover it.
If you all like the idea I will make another one so you can see how it will look done properly  :D

I think this is very cute and perfect on this guy with the grey on his legs, ( outfit) and around his eyes, it looks like it is part of  his natural "skin",  :D Well done and with your outfits, we are able to transform our Pleos into anything we want. You and IMR are both very capable of some great outfits and I wish I could win like $500.00 just for Pleo accessories here on the forum! :o 8)                       RWM                 Must be why I shop the thrift second hand stores so much and make so many no sew outifts...

Omigosh Kat! If possible, I like the turtle pleo even more than the ladybug :D !! I was looking at the picture and my brother walked by behind me and he was like " :o NO WAY the Innvo people are making robotic turtles now?!! I want I want!!" and I had to explain to him that it's just a dinosaur in an exquisitely made turtle shell :P so that shows you how well you did; your little dino passed for a real turtle! ^^ Well done!!

That's wonderful, Kat - the structure you've put on the shell is a great idea.  As Wicked Lovely says, it works really well on a Pleo - very convincing! :D

The turtle outfit is pretty cool but I never did perfect it.  It is one of those projects that I mean to get back to at some point.  The one in the pic above is just a prototype and still needs a bit of tweaking to get it right.
I also have ideas for a strawberry pleo, a butterfly pleo and I want to revisit the animal ear hooded coat idea to see if I can make them or something similar using the feather wool trim.  I was thinking of doing one in the tiger stripe stretch velvet that I have.  Just have to find the time and inspirational urge to get cracking on it  :bullwhip:  :)

Found some sewing energy today and here is what came out  :D  A tiger pelo!

I have also been playing with the Santa coat design over the last couple of weeks and decided to try it out in a few different colors.  with this as the end result.
It is very cute and I can do it in so many color schemes :)

Love the tiger outfit! & omg do I want the turtle outfit, it's the cutest thing I've ever seen!

If you ever get round to making the butterfly outfit, pleaseeee post photos, my little girl is obsessed with butterfly's & would love to see a pleo dressed as one - she acts like Pipers a baby who needs a wardrobe full of clothes lol

The Tiger outfit is very cute, but the name I think of when I see pleo wearing it is SWEET! It is great as Tony The Tiger would say!  RWM :cat-hug: and the Pleo Township of the Redwoods P8) P:)
