The whole crew gathers around excitedly, even Bruce has come down from his lofty perch!
Six Pleo's and a mouth full of shark teeth make short work of the wrappings!
The boxes are smaller, and better packed. The name has been changed from Air Swimmers to Flying Fish, I have to say I liked Air Swimmers better.
The controllers have also had a change. They now look like play station rejects :P
The fins have had some welcomed changes, better material and they are now nicely shaded.
Marlin or Nemo, which name to choose?
And what about this lovely, 'she' needs a name too :)

Whoa, IMR :o they look so cool! Are they really remote-controlled fish that fly around your house? That would be so crazy %) you have to take a picture of what they can do, I'd love to see it! :D

Here's one I prepared earlier...

These guys won't get their maiden flight for a couple of weeks, for the kids at school :)
-
Ahahaha that was so cool XD they'd be perfect for the initial surprise of flying them into someone's room :P they're so awesome IMR, where the heck did you get the idea?
-
I take no credit for the idea whatsoever :) But they are heaps of fun :)
-
Ahaha no, I meant wherever did you get the idea to buy a bunch of them? xD
-
They're for my students at school. I originally planned on only having Bruce (The one in the film) but I've gotten rather fond of him :P So the two new ones will be for my students to enjoy and Bruce is all mine :) There's a lot of science behind these guys as well as being awesomely fun :)
-
They are great - I'm still tempted to get one myself ....... ;)
I guessed you'd got them for the kids, IMR. Wonderful idea - they'll love 'em! :D
I can't think of a girly shark name ...... for some reason I came up with Griselda.....
........ or how about 'Cindy' ;)

Lol Cindy doesn't quite inspire the feel of a great white in my books :P Maybe I'll let the kids name her.

Yes it does, yes it does! Call it Cindy! Oh please, oh please call it Cindy ;D
-
I have an idea! Name her Cilla or is it Scilla. Oh never mind. Remember the female monster in the Odyssey? Somebody and Charybdis? I'm probably spelling it wrong. Lol! Anyway she's six-headed with lots of teeth from what I can remember from college.

The boxes I saw looked nothing like the ones you have . . . These are sponsored by a TV channel, and they sell their own helium tanks . . .

Yes a bit of research brought to my attention that these are counterfeit Air Swimmers (although given what I paid for them I can't say I'm surprised), rather ironically though I have to say that if you gave me one of each with no labels and asked me to pick the brand name one I'd say it was the newer ones and not Bruce :o
These ones came better packed, with bubble wrap on the more sensitive parts, the tail motors are more powerful, the plastic parts feel less likely to break (albeit about 20grams heavier) and the fins look much nicer. The controls are also more comfortable. Bruce on the other have came with the parts all jumbled in the box, no bubble wrap and the plastic parts feel extremely flimsy. The fins are also plain not shaded.
However Bruce was the first commercial Air Swimmer available so I hope that the later iterations made some improvements.
-
Even if they are counterfeit they sound a lot better than the one my friend got.Hers broke within the first or second weak! :o
She got pretty upset, she had a clown fish wich she named Nemo. :-* It was so cute even if I never got to see it in action,it would have been adorable in action. :hissyfit:
-
Bruce is pretty sturdy, he's taken a bit of a bashing flying around this small house. But all the same it is just a balloon with a motor attached, a very light and flimsy motor so you do have to take a bit of due care.
-
IMR,
My friend says that there was some double sided tape and it stopped being sticky and let go of whatever it was suposed to hold on??
-
Yup the whole thing is held together with bits of tape :P If Bruce ever falls to pieces it'll be superglue for him :P
-
Yes that sounds like what was on hers and she did not know what to do but next time I see her, I have the same double sided tape that Nemo had so I am going to bring her some.
-
I again IMR I was really wanting to know where you got your Marlin from?
-
@<. We found Air swimmers in our local Toys R Us. They are the Animal Planet version like the photo posted by mweed although they only had the shark available and not the clown fish .So maybe try your nearest Toys R Us? Hope this helps.

Mine came of eBay, they aren't the air swimmers brand, but they were about half the price ;) But you need to be a little wary, I'm sure some imitations are of poor quality.
-
I am playing a bit of Frankenstein downunder ;) My newer Flying fish have been sacrificed for Bruce :P
I had both filled to take to school but it turns out that they are quite a bit smaller than Bruce is, so the Flying fish after their maiden flight have sacrificed their 'blood' to give Bruce a transfusion ;) Anchor is also donating his pretty fins :P
I like Bruce and his ridiculously large size better :P But the children at school (all 134 of them!) thought Anchor and Nemo were just wonderful. Nemo will fly again, but sadly Anchor is headed for the rubbish bin, he developed a hole sometime during his tour of the school and had to be patched up with sticky tape. I did take them to school knowing full well that I might suffer a casualty, but at $26 it was a fairly cheap casualty. The dinosaurs which also went (Five of them minus Lilo) survived unscathed and much loved :)
I am quite sure the school is never going to forget that day :D

Ooh IMR, who is the mysterious figure lurking next to Yuki? Is your brood expanding? Day at school sounds like it was a huge success. No doubt many parents will not thank you when it comes time to send Santa his letter, hee hee! :sheep1:
