Title: Tandars interactive monkey pet
Post by: DragonGirl on February 20, 2012, 12:18:49 PM
Anybody got a tandars?  Seem much like furbies, but with a grip.
Look a bit weird to me and a bit pricey ($50) for what I see.

I have never heard of this one. Can you provide a link to it? What can it do, any A.I?

http://tandars.com/main.php
I looked them up this morning after seeing this post.  Cute but creepy looking.  Seems a lot like a furby but with arms and legs.  I do like that you charge it using it's tail  - plugging it into a usb port.  :D

I looked them up too - scared the heck out of me!  :P

It's the big eyes and Exorcist revolving heads .... they are a bit creepy.  :o

But yes, they look like a clip-on Furby, interesting in their way but nothing really new?  :D

They do have very pretty faces ...... which to me makes them that bit creepier - Furby was weird and creepy too, and cute in a different way.  ;)

Nah, not for me. Not for that price. At least Furby gave an empression of life and "grew" to some extent. Gees listen to me! Owning pleo has spoiled me!!

They do seem fairly pricy for what you get.  If they were half the price than maybe I'd go for it.  I never did have a furby.  %)

 >:( oh my. No no, much too creepy for me! My brother's a monkey fanatic & I'd consider it for him, but only without that face-- it looks too much like a human's face.
Now a monkey with a face like this I'd get! :D

I think they're somewhere in the middle, bizarre and definitely weird but strangely kinda cute! I think the idea is novel (and I as a kid I would've been all over these things!)
But for the price I would like see them do more than just 'chatter' to each other in a sqiggly language, and have a bit more mobility.
I think their heads spin way too fast, which adds to the 'creepy' and there's something... odd about their faces... I think the pouty one would be the one I like the most. xD
I really do like the tail-charger, that's a brilliant idea!

I liked the tree.

I would buy that robot tree!

Monkey... not so much. The way it turns its head is a huge mistake, what a creeper.

Huh? A robotic tree? Are you talking about the little robotic plant-thing that's part of the Poo-Chi line?

;) Only if it were so "lucky", more like the exorcist on Crack or been drinking wine coolers made of leftover toxic waste. :o %) If I was a kid, I would be afraid of that thing, it is just the face that needs to be replaced, totally taken off and replaced with something friendliler.                                RWM

It is the way it's head turns that I fined offensive, it is unnatural in a BAD way like in the "Exorcist"  :'(

There is a robotic plant in the Poo-Chi line?? Do you know what it is called I would like to check it out! I was referring to a large robotic storytelling tree they had in one of the promotional videos for the Tanders. They had them sitting on the tree as it told the story of where they came from. It had a huge smile on it's face and a big nose, it looked very sweet and friendly unlike those demonic monkeys clinging to it. The tree was very big so just for display but if they made a smaller version I would want that over the monkey.

Here is a video of the Tandars with the talking tree.  seems to be a small version of the tree.  wonder if they are thinking of selling these too.

Well that was... odd. Anyone know if the little munkeys were interacting with the tree or each other or was it both? Sorry Luna for being so late in getting back to our talking plant-tree-thing. I had to do some research because I forgot the name of it. It's called Petal-Chi. I'm not quite sure you can call it a tree but there ya go.

This is not the tree I wanted! They made it creepy! I liked the one with the big nose and smile. The monkey is attached to the tree by it's hands it looks like and every time the tree blinks it seems to trigger the monkey to turn it's head in a frightning way and screech  :o

Thankyou for the info on the Petal-Chi, I'll add it to the mile long list of robots I want to buy.
