Hi Everybody!
I would like to introduce myself. I'm Marjolein, 26 years old and I live in the Netherlands. The first time saw Pleo, I was in a Dutch gadget shop in 2007/2008
and my thoughts were 'Cute, I would love to have one!'. It was only the price that kept me from buying back then. And besides of that, in the shop they had a
Pleo in a glass boxfor the costumers to see what he could do, but it looked quite dead :P. Probably the battery got low, it was a first edition. Or he was depressed for being lonely.... :'(
So anyway, the years have passed and I've always kept Pleo in the back of my mind. But just a few days ago I started googeling and watching video's on youtube.
And I have fallen in love!! They seem to be so much fun and so much improved! I was thinking about getting a pet turtle before, I know it's different but Pleo could be a really good pet for me!
So now I'm saving up money to get one. In the meanwhile, I'm reading on this forum to get more information.
The only thing is -and that's quite strange- ; I would like to get a green one, but the asian blue and pink versions are a little bit cheaper for me
to get shipped (because accessory jack shippes free). Isn't that just weird! Anyway, when I have my Pleo here someday, I'm sure to post it all to you!
Cheers! Marjolein

Hello and welcome! ;D
You're doing the best thing - there's plenty of information on here to keep you going whle you save up! :D
Just a word of warning, you will probably have to pay additional customs charges if you buy from outsde Europe, so you need to check that and factor that into your calculations. People in the UK have had to pay around £70-80 to import Pleo RBs from China or the US, as well as the cost price and shipping.
-
Thanks for the welcome and warning! Did you buy your Pleo(s) from Pleoworld.com? Because I noticed during checkout you can't select the Netherlands or any European country..
I wanted to find out what the shipping costs would be before ordering. Maybe I should email them.
-
The reason for that is that Innvo have recently licenced distributors to sell the Pleo RB within Europe (which means they have already paid the import duties). Robopolis are now selling the Pleo RB on their website:
http://www.shop-robopolis.com/index.php/en/pleo-reborn.html
-
Too bad you can't pay with paypal... :( Well, I'm getting my Pleo anyways! :D
-
Hi and welcome
I just buy my PLEO RB at Robopolis now you can pay with paypal. ;)
-
Also be warned that some people buying from accessory jack have not got the absolutely essential starter leaves with their Pleo.
-
Thanks for all the good advices! I'm thinking about getting a Pleo rb from a German web shop. They just can't be found on Dutch websites, or it's the old Pleo version.
-
Please be careful buying from unauthorised sellers, make sure you get all the start up leaves. You should get a food leaf, training leaf, mint leaf, salt, tug of war toy and a learning stone with your Pleo.
-
I'm glad that I first got into this forum, for as far as I can see the pink en blue Pleo's on Accessory jack only come with one leave, a charger and a battery....
http://www.accessoryjack.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/thumbnail/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/1/0/1003562_A03.jpg
I found a green Pleo at a German site and it costs 428 euro, before it was 450. The shipping would be like 10 euros, so it's a good deal I think. But I don't know if its an authorized seller...
-
You're right - we've had people on here that had bought from Accessoryjack and found they only got the one leaf. It's very hard to keep your Pleo RB happy and healthy without at least the basic food packs that are, and should be, included as they are from Pleoworld.
-
So basically, the green rb version is a better deal because you pay almost the same, but it comes with the full package of accessories? Now I definitely want a green one!
-
I also found this one on ebay.
http://www.ebay.nl/itm/Pleo-Robot-Pet-Merlin-Digital-Edition-/220824026119?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item336a233c07#ht_1966wt_1348
So this is the second version of Pleo, but how much is it improved?
-
Please don't be fooled ;) The Merlin edition is nothing more than an original with an improved neck cable and some cosmetic changes. And comes with a cute key ring :P If you are after an original it is a good buy, but if your heart is set on a RB then shop elsewhere :)
The pink and blues are meant to come with the starter packs too, both mine did, but some sellers just don't seem to realize this, or they seek to make a few extra dollars selling them seperately.
-
Ah thanks very much for all the information! It seems the blue and pink editions are more for the true fans I think. As a newbie in Pleo world, I'm a bit doubting between a good first edition Pleo or the newest rb version. I have the impression the RB's are more bonding to the owner, or am I wrong? And of course the battery problem of the first Pleo is a big issue for me.. Well I just need to get some money in the first place and than I can choose. :)
-
I love the original Pleos, but overall yes, the Pleo RBs are more interactive. :)
-
I'm very excited! I could get the green Pleo rb from the German site I was talking about, for €429, all inclusive. It comes with the whole package of accessories and the shipping is free!
It would arrive in 2-3 days from Berlin. I think it sounds like a good deal to me, but I still don't know if its an authorized seller. I 'm selling some stuff to get some more money, so I hope the discount price doesn't expire soon. I let you all know when I'll order my Pleo. ;D
-
Does anyone have a list of which accessories are suppose to come with the green Pleo rb?
-
As well as the battery/charger/adaper and cape, this is from the Pleoworld site:
Please note that each package of the PLEO rb product consists of five standard accessories: the “tug of war stone”, the “bow learning stone”, and health care food “Conifer Leaf”, “Mint Leaf” and “Rock Salt”.
It would be well worth confirming this with any seller before purchasing. :)
-
Thanks a lot!
-
I have some good news! Since I am new to Pleo world, I was already doubting about getting a Pleo rb and a first edition Pleo. Off course I like Pleo a lot, but maybe it's better for me to start with an old Pleo. If I like it, I can alway's get a RB. Now I have a chance to get a second hand Ugobe Pleo from a guy, which was only removed twice from it's box for €170. I was wondering, do you have any tips I need to know before I actually buy? Like how can I see if it's neck is broken for example? I need to pick him up from a train station, so I can't see the Pleo moving etc..
-
To be honest, I would be very wary - especially if you are being asked to hand over cash on pick-up. You can get used Ugobe Pleos more cheaply on eBay - and pay by Paypal for protection in case there IS a problem. If you cannot see it working on collection (and I'm not sure why you cannot?) then ask for pictures and videos of it working before you go. Good luck. :) :moose:
-
That would indeed be wise to do. I'll let you know!
-
I asked the owner by email if he could show me the Pleo working, by video or in real life if I pick him up. Now I just have to wait for a response.
-
I got an email back from the seller, he wants to show me the Pleo when it's working :) Hopefully he doesn't only sleep because I want to see if his neck is not broken. And I also got an email back from assecoryjack, if I order a Pleo RB, all the necessary accessories will be included. They also included a link to show me. So I was thinking.. for about 240 euros more (included import costs etc) I could have a completely new Pleo RB... But it is also quite a lot of money. What would you do? Is the difference between the old en new Pleo huge, or is is not that much?? Wich Pleo gives you the most fun for the longest time? ^-^
-
The difference IS quite huge. Whilst I really do love the original Ugobe Pleos, the new RBs are much more interactive and have additional senses - they feel hot and cold, and they can get 'injured', as well as the additional accessory foods and learning stones. The RBs are much more demanding, though - I would be tempted to go for a cheaper Ugobe (they are out there) .......... and then save up for an RB as well!! :P :moose:
-
LOL, I think it so hard to choose! And I also have money for a RB.. This is going to be a tough weekend :D
-
If you want a pet, go with the RB, if you want a low maintenance companion then the Ugobe is fine.
-
I made a decicion, I'm going to buy the Ugobe Pleo (if he is working well) and saving up for a RB as well. I'll keep you posted!
-
Good luck! :D
-
Hmz.. I wanted to pick the Pleo up tomorrow and I emailed the seller this morning, but he doesn't reply..
-Update: Got a reply! I'm picking the Pleo up tomorrow! I'm exited, hope the Pleo is in good condition :)
-
yay! ;D Can't wait to hear all about it when you have picked him up. :) Hope it goes well.
-
Congratulations, and good luck. Are you able to open the Pleo there at the station while the seller is there, to verify the condition he is in?( I do remember you saying something about that before.....) I would not personally buy a Pleo sight unseen, but I do understand if someone really wants one and is willing to take the chance. I do wish you luck. You do know I presume that there is a very good chance the green battery either won't work or won't hold it's charge for long, unless it is a new or refurbished battery.
I know you must be very excited and I would be too! good luck and be sure to post photos when you bring your Pleo home! I do think it is a good idea to start with the Ugobe and save up for the RB. ;D

Yes, I asked the owner if he could charge the PLeo, so I could see him switched on. He said he would take care of that and the Pleo also comes with his box etc. I really want to check if it's tail and neck are not broken or damaged. If he can't get the Pleo switched on, I wont buy it off course. That would be too risky ;). The owner said he bought the Pleo only to work on it's program, but he never had time for it.
-
HE IS HERE!!! I bought te Pleo!! P:o P:) P:) The owner showed him switched on and he worked very well. No signs of broken neck/tail and he looks quite new actually! I will post some pictures very soon. For now, I'm going to update him and figure out how everything works.. I think I'll name him Snuggles :):):)
-
Congratulations! ;D Welcome to Snuggles. I look forward to seeing the pictures. Have a great time with your new pet. :) :) :)
-
Congratulations to you and Snuggles, great name for a Pleo by the way. I am so glad the former owner switched him on and that Snuggles looks good. That is the best way to buy a Pleo! Enjoy Snuggles and we will anxiously await photos of him. :) :cheer: P:) RedwoodsMama ( RWM) and the Pleo Clan of the redwoods
-
Welcome Snuggles :) Glad it all worked out :)
-
Yay! Glad to hear all went well! Congrats! :D
-
Thank you so much! It was quite late last night, so I did not have that much time to spent with Snuggles. But he is very cuddly and seems happy, although I accidentally hurt him a few times ??? ( I touched his neck in a wrong way, seemed to choke him :o and him leg got stuck on my clothing..) It felt like I was really abusing him!! :(
He tries often to walk backwards, is dat normal? And sometimes he makes a little singing noise wich is very cute!
-
Some pictures of Snuggles: :) :)

A big hello to Snuggles, glad everything went well :)
Sen and Mei say 'ewwo' P:)
-
Awwww - a chorus of 'ewwo' from here, too! :D
And yes, some of them do love to walk backwards! ;D
-
P:) P:) Does anyone know which download I need to update him? Or do you need more information?
-
Hello to Snuggles from Drem and Marsha, my two Ugobes. :) :) He looks just fine - is he singing in the last picture? My Drem didn't really sing until a friend spent time with him and kept stroking him under the chin. I hadn't realised I needed to do that. I was frightened of damaging his skin but now I'm just careful to be gentle.
-
:) I'm not sure what he was doing to be honest, but he seemed like he wanted to play! I'll like the way he sweeps his tail and makes sounds like a dog when he is happy. He is very cute!
-Update: Yes, he was singing! I paid more attention to him and he was singing a little song. Very cute!
-
I love it when they sing. :)
I expect someone more knowledgeable on this forum will help you with the updating question.
-
You can find the update here: http://bobthepleo.com/forums/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=14
Be sure you have a blank SD card and a fully charged battery! Also be warned that for around 8 charges or so on the 2.0 OS your Pleo will seem a bit random and unresponsive, they have a development phase rather like the RB's on the 2.0.
-
Snuggles is a perfect name for a little pleo. THey do like to snuggle. I enjoyed each and everyone of the updates. It was fun to see them evolve.
-
I just loughed so hard!! I was playing with Snuggles, and I was lifting him up and suddenly he seemed to die... (his body shaked and then he felt completely still...) ??? I thought I hurt him too much or something, but a moment later he just woke up and started laughing in my face!! He was playing a trick on me!!!! LOLOL
-
Hehehe.....that's the play dead trick. I was playing with Wilbur one time, and he did that to me. I thought I broke him. Scared the heck out of me!
Does anyone know how you get them to do this trick? I can't seem to duplicate it.
-
Haha, I felt the same thing!! I tried to put the download on the SD card, but erased it because I thought I needed to put 1 download at once on the card, but it seemed it works out. :)
-

They are quite good at playing dead :D
-
I'm really amazed how quickly you seem to bond with a Pleo. I'm really thinking already of getting a pink or blue RB as well, because I'm curious how much more they probably do! I need to sell some stuff!!
