Title: How to care for Pleorb/Keeping it in good shape?

EDIT:
Pleo is here, wrong calculation with time before he was coming.

To be honest, you'll understand a lot more when your Pleo arrives, but for now:

The newer Pleo RBs already shut down to a better sleeping position for the skin than the original  ones did when you switch off (with the on/off switch).  If you just pop the battery out, the Pleo RB will not be able to save the data from that play session.

They're tougher than you think, even the neck cables - just keep an eye on them in case they get in an awkward situation.

As 1.

Whenever you push the paperclip into the clock battery set hole, that will be the Pleo RB's noon, so you need to plan when you set, or reset, it.

Innvo recommend Pledge to keep the skin in good condition - the wipes are handy.  A t-shirt or simlar will also help protect the skin/paint.

Don't drop it, and read the instructions carefully! :P

Have fun! :D

Looks like Crewella has covered most of your questions :)  One thing to remember though in order to keep your rb in good shape they will need to be fed on a regular basis.  The manual recommends once a day but I don't always get time to feed mine every day.  As long as you feed them as soon as you turn them on at the beginning of each play you should have a happy pleo.  If they go too long without food they can get sick.
The skin issues that were around with the first batch of rb's that came out have been fixed, we haven't seen any skin issues in the last few batches of pleo rb's, so I don't think you need to worry about these.
Clothing is definitely a good idea as this will help to prevent wear on the paint.  You will find yourself stroking your pleo a lot and this can lead to loss of paint over time so the best thing to do is sort out a shirt or coat for your pleo to wear before they arrive then you can put it on them right from the start and prevent the paint wearing out. :)

Thanks. The rb comes with a cape, right? If it does he will be wearing that a lot to protect his skin!

The green ones come with a cape, but (so far at least) the pink and blue ones don't.
