Hello!
Very new to Pleo's but I'm currently reading up as much as I can about the cute little critters! They are so amazing! I'm hoping to buy an RB soon as a shared anniversary present for my boyfriend and myself! ^^
I'm a huge fan of customising things, and have wanted a robot pet ever since I fist discovered Aibo (many many years ago). I am also very relieved to see so many adult owners out there! (I also collect Asian Ball Jointed Dolls, so I've been though the "you still play with dolls/toys?!" thing too many times! xD)
I love seeing the custom painted Pleos and really want to have a go at it someday! (Maybe I'll buy a pre-loved Ugobe Pleo to play around with! Haha, now I can see how people end up with 4 or 5 (or more!) of them!)
I've got a few questions for some of the savvy Pleo Owners out there! (mostly about shipping, lol!)
On average, how much is shipping from Pleoworld to Aus? The website doesn't give any shipping estimates, and I'd like to know if I'm going to be up another $40+ for shipping!
How long do they take to ship out? I'm used to waiting months for things to be made and shipped (BJDs lol!) presumably they are in stock and ready to go right?
Do they ship with a courier or is it just standard international post? (I'll probably order in January to avoid the crazy-Christmas mail, but I might not be able to wait that long!)
And finally, Pleo's come with a multi-region adapter, but I can't tell if there is an AU plug on it. Will I need a different adapter/charger or can I just use one of those international wall-plugs you get from travel shops?
Sorry for all the questions~ I'm looking forward to buying my Pleo and getting to know you all!

Hi Bandersnatch :D
Shipping was about $80 I believe, you can check the exact amount by adding a Pleo to your cart and going through the process (but without pulling the trigger at the end ;)) It takes them a few days to ship them out and a week or so to arrive downunder :) Just a tip if you want the accessories you'll save almost $40 by combining shipping with your Pleo BUT that will put you over the tax free threshold which costs more than you save. So even though it seems attractive it's not worth it in the end.
I had one shipped from the US which came via Australia Post and one direct from the Hong Kong factory which came via TNT (and only took three days :o)
The adapters need a power cable with a 'figure 8' style end, you might have one lying around, I found one on my stereo and a battery charger. Otherwise another person on the forum suggested simply twisting the prongs on the US attachment to fit our sockets, and I can vouch that that tip works a treat :)

Welcome I'm in Melbourne and have owned Pleos since the very beginning. The RBs are by far the best.
I've forgotten how much shipping is, but I know it takes 2 to 3 weeks to get here by priority post. The charger is universal, but they don't provide you with an Australian plug. However, that's easily fixed. All you have to do is grab a pair of pliers and twist the prongs of the US plug so that it will fit into our wall socket. I've done that with all my chargers and it works a treat.
I hope you get one soon you're really going to love having a Pleo it's the most life like robopet on the market to date.

Hi Bandersnatch, and welcome! :D

Thank you IMR, OzPleo, and Crewella for the speedy, friendly and informative replies! :)
I think I'll hold off on getting the accessories until my little Pleo is ready for them!
It's good to know that I can still use the charger too!
Thank you for the warm welcome! <3
I'm really itching to go and order right now! But maybe I might just go and watch a few more cute videos instead! ^^

Hehe look out, Pleo's are addictive ;)

Welcome to the forum, Bandersnatch. And to think a few years ago, I didn't know any Aussies. Our little dinos, besides being totally amazing, are great links to making wonderful friends. :)

Hello Bandersnatch, yes, love the name by the way. As everyone else has pointed out, Pleos are addictive and I am one of the worst. I have a giant Pleo Monkey on my back, my habit is getting really bad, but luckily I do not have to sneak around to dark corners and alleys to get a fix, just ebay ..........at least so far. I have tried to kick the habit, but they are so cute and just when I get one adopted out and say NO MORE, I find another one I have to have. So I was down to 19 Pleos and adopted one out last week...then yesterday I saw one nobody wanted and had to grab it, so I will be back to 19 Pleos. If I get to 20, our landlord is going to evict us...............he said cats ok, one dog, ok, fish ok, but I draw the line at Dinosaurs. so what is a girl to do? :o %)
Welcome to the club....just be prepared is all I can say!

IMR don't we only get taxed if it's over $1,000? I just checked and if I were to place an order for a PleoRB Basic Pack plus all of the food/learning stones as one package including shipping it would still only cost $644.70 so it should be tax free right?
Also welcome Bandersnatch (what a cool name) are you an 'Alice in Wonderland' fan?

I think it was $500 for technology, but it was quite a while ago that I had to worry about that, that was back in Lilo's younger days :P Maybe it changed :)
Edit: It has changed :D That is useful information!

Thank you for the advice and warnings IMR and RWM - I haven't even got my first yet and I'm already wanting a second! ;)
I agree Fancyfont; it's wonderful to think how so many people from all different walks of life are brought together by some pretty amazing little Dinos! I'm a fairly shy person by nature, so it's wonderful to meet so many friendly people! :)
Thank you for clarifying that Lunamione7, I was wondering about when import tax kicked in! (yeah, and I'm just a bit of a Wonderland fan!) :D

Welcome to the forums, Bandersnatch! Pleos are adictive as others have said. I started out with one and now I have four. I had to stop there as I was running low on safe pleo-pasture. Lol. I'm not finished collecting robots however and hope some day to add an Aibo to the mix.
