Title: New to Pleo
Post by: PleoPerson1234 on December 17, 2011, 07:01:37 AM
Hello! I recently ordered and received a Pleorb and I'm really excited to play with it Christmas day. When you first take it out of the box it says to charge it right away, but is it okay to play with it for a short while before charging? Because charging takes 3 to 4 hours and I will be pretty inpatient to wait that long :) and how long does it take for the "baby" to "grow" into the next stage? I read somewhere it took 3-4 Battery Cycles if you play with it a lot, is this true? And what are some improvments from Pleo to Pleorb?

Thanks, sorry for asking so many questions.

Hi Pleoperson, welcome to the forum and congrats on getting a new RB!  ;D

You may be lucky ..... a few of us had our Pleo RBs arrive with some charge already on the battery, but it's more than likely that you will need to charge the battery before you can run your new RB I'm afraid.  We all know that impatient feeling ........... ;)

It will give you time to read all the instructions, the Pleo RB is very different from the Ugobe Pleos - there's a lot more AI, there's the clock battery that goes in the foot so the RB knows what time of day it is, there an RFID reader in the head so the RB can recognise the different food accessories, and there are more sensors in the head and on the back.

And yes, it will take one or two battery cycles before it will stand and several more before it will walk (depending on its character/DNA)!  :D

Have fun!  ;D

Hi Pleoperson, as hard as it is you MUST charge the battery first. A full first charge is much better than a ten minute run time even if you do have to wait :)

Be sure to read the manual it is very important! And you might want to take a look at the Pleo RB FAQ, it has lots of useful tips. http://bobthepleo.com/forums/index.php?topic=2315.0
