Title: updating pleo RB

when updating an pleo RB it says you need a sd card when i thought in the manual it says the USB is for updating? can you use the USB cable? as i think i figured out the problem with my sd card thaks to the help of pleopet you need a "SDHC" memery card reader when i don't think mine is... so can you use the usb cable to update to i really want to update Rose..

Unfortunately, you can't use the USB slot as it is because you have to take the battery out to plug it in, and you need the Pleo RB to be running to run the updates.   %)

Also, because of that (I guess) the only updates available are for micro SD card only.   :(

I'd buy a 2GB micro SD (not SDHD) card and adapter or Micro SD USB reader.

i wounder what the USB is used for then??? i don't even think you can get them here in this dinky town :o i got the card in thunder bay so i guess i have to wait till February when i go... my Ugobe's battery just totally died :'(

You can get them quite cheaply online - they're cheap to post as they're so tiny.

just took a look theirs a reader that supports up to 32gb card for $4 with free shipping... that's pretty cheap actually if only dads credit cards were not maxed out due to Christmas and insane hydro here :(

I got one of these - didn't expect it to last long ...... but I've had it a year now and it's fine for the 2GB cards I use for Pleo RB. :)

BUT ..... I hasten to add I use them for Micro SD cards ........ not HDSD .......  :-\

I've just remembered you have an HDSD card?

i don't really know??? its says Maxell micro sd hc 4 gb so i guess so it just says that on the card itself... and it will not work in any of my normal sd readers

Then those readers I posted probably won't work either ....... your cheapest option is likely to be to get a plain old 2GB Micro SD card, I think ........

so i will need a HDSD reader i will have to see whats cheaper i got this card for $1 lol will a 4gb work in a pleo RB cause my 2gb screws up my ugobe...

This has me confused as well  ???

I was looking online to find some cheap micro SD cards but I am afraid of buying them too cheap as I have experience with buying "name brands" and receiving fakes. There are a HUGE number of fake "name brand" SD cards such as copies of Kingston and SanDisk. Be careful where you buy from and be sure to check comments/reviews! Especially on Amazon! Still gonna keep searching around though for a decent one.

What size is best?

Also, what exactly has been updated for the RB?

I'm by no means techy enough to understand all the ramifications ........ so to keep out of trouble I've always bought plain 2GB SD cards and Micro SD cards and not had any problems.  I don't think smaller than 2GB will run in a Pleo RB -  the 1GB one I tried in Belle didn't work.  There are people on here far better qualified to explain - so I can only tell you what works for me.  :)

The updates have mainly (and most obviously) changed the sleeping position on shutdown to a semi-standing position which puts less stresses on the skin, and it seems there are a few new noises as well.  There are two versions, one for male and one for female, but any Pleo RB bought recently should already be running the updated version.

i wounder if rose is already updated? she stands up when i shut her off but i think i bought her before the update came out... i got my SD at giant tiger in Winnipeg it was $1 with the normal SD adapter they were on sale from $1. i really miss my Ugobe already

In that case, it sounds as though she already had been issued with the lastest software ....... on the main points, anyway.  No point in updating then, just for the sake of it.   I believe the updates that went up on Pleoworld had been in existence for a while before they were posted. :)
