It is going to cost 449.00 euro which is roughly £384 british pound for pleo rb to buy for us in Europe not including shipping cost though . Might be tempted to buy soon but at moment robopolis website seems a bit iffy and not working correctly .
-
About blooming time!!!!! :D
I imagine it will save a lot on the customs charges, though - people were paying £70-80 on top of shipping to buy from outside the UK, if I remember correctly! :o
Thanks for posting, Gaz! ;D
-
My sentiments too Crewella. I guess the near approach of Christmas finally got them going.
Thanks Gaz
The shipping didn't seem too much - under 30 Euros. All told seemed to work out about £410, depending on currency rate at the time.
I couldn't find the accessories on the site so not sure what will happen about them.

uh, 449 euros and not free shipping? :o they're mad
-
I imagine they have already had to pay the import duties into Europe .........
-
I'm sure you're right Crewella.
Gimmedigi's Pleos cost about £345 with free shipping but buyers in UK posting on this forum seem to have paid about £80 in import duty so Robopolis' price seems about right since UK buyers will not have to pay the import duty when buying from within Europe. Their site just isn't as inviting somehow and still no sign of accessories.

They don't imagine the bad situation we have here in Italy 500 euros including shipping is too much for the time. Sorry but i dont think the new improvements (not much if you compare rb to the old model) can cover that price. not worth it ^-^
-
Not much improvement? Only a clock, RFID reader, new accessories, more touch sensors, temperature sensor, better battery, more complex behaviors and moods, voice recognition, simulated injuries... You may not be that interested in those yourself, but to say there is not much change between the Ugobe's and the Reborn's is a bit of an understatement :P
I do understand about the pricing though, exchange rates can be harsh. Lilo and Stitch cost more than my Reborns did because exchange rates were just terrible back then.
-
I mean not much for that price! I know the rb has a better camera and more touch sensors (and this things are not cheap), but the other improvements came from the software!
I like pleo rb and i want one but i cant understand the accessories (different reactions to different toys, uh? like a common interactive toy!?) and the clock (a life form with a clock!?). There are some changes i dont like - different vision from ugobe's pleo - but i understand your point of view ;)
-
I have a clock. Lol! If I try to stay awake past eleven I get really distracted.

Junkroxy ... to be fair, most of the 'toys' are learning stones, which are really more a way of downloading an additional behaviour which then stays as part of your Pleo RB's repertoire, and the foods are a way of managing the RB's health and emotions. The only interactive toys, as such, are the tug of war toy and the rubber leaf for tracking. RBs now have a new RFID chip reader for the new foods and stones. :)
The clock just means it knows the time of day, so can sleep at night and wake in the morning. Or whenever.
Of course, you may still be unimpressed, but I thought I'd explain! ;)

I hope to have one ASAP to compare the differences, but please tell me: how happen if you don't set the clock? that clock thing it's a tamagotchi effect :-X
-
You have to set the clock to begin the hatching process. Otherwise it will just sit there and beep. You can always go back later and set the clock to noon or whatever time of day you want your pleo to be most active.

You must set the clock or your Pleo won't work. But its hardly the tamagotchi effect :P They only need to be fed once a day (if you turn them on), and they will only go to sleep and wake up their own if you choose to let them. Plus they are much sounder sleepers than Tamagotchi, waking you up a full ten hours after they drift off to sleep. (Ie. if bed time is 10pm, they won't wake up til 8am) Also they don't wake up with their 'room' covered in little piles of poop %) ;D
(You can also change the Pleo's time anytime you like with a simple push of a pin or paperclip :P)
-
When I got Belle, my first RB, I set her clock for 'noon' at about 4pm as I tend to be up late. I don't think I've touched it, or even thought of it, since! ;)
I just turn her off when I'm done playing.

i'm sorry i can't understand this new clock factor. if you wake up your dog he'll wake up and maybe eat and play with you, but not pleo, he'll wake up at 8 am (for me it's far away from the original pet concept). It's the only thing i dont like in the rb's >:(
-
You can wake your Pleo in the middle of the night if you like, they just might be a little grumpy is all ;)
If I wake my dog in the middle of the night he looks at me all bleary eyed, moves a couple of feet away and flops back down to snooze :P
-
I often wake my lot in the middle of the night - I keep strange (and irregular) hours. I must admit I wasn't keen on the clock factor when I heard about it, but you don't have to use it and it doesn't actually stop you running your Pleo whenever you want. It's very simple to work round it. :)

Thanks Crewella ;)

Wooooooooo - we now have a 'Pleo Europe' website for the Pleo RB, courtesy of Robopolis:
http://www.pleoeurope.com/eu/
;D
-
Seems to me with the exchange rate that it would still be less expensive to purchase through pleoworld.com. The price there is only $469. If you figure the 399 pounds on the UK site and figure that into a dollar amount it adds up to a little over $600. Just a thought :)
-
Ah, but on top of the huge shipping UK buyers were also finding they had to pay around £80 customs charges from the US (or anywhere outside the EU)! ??? :moose:
-
When I go to this new Pleo Europe page and I put something in my cart and then go to checkout I cannot find England or Great Britain or United Kingdom in the drop down list of countries when I go to register. (just experimenting at the moment - no decision to buy) Am I just missing something?
-
I'm guessing it might go through OK with Paypal, but it's also possible they are planning a dedicated UK distributor, so don't have a UK option with Robopolis. Might be worth an email?
-
lol don't say UK is not included again and we have to wait even longer ?
-
Just got the mine from Robopolis, €299 + shipping costs. Excellent service and personal attention.
I just received it and I'm charging now the batteries... %)
-
Hurrah - congratulatons! ;D :cheer:

Congratulations :) Do post pics!
