Hi everyone!
I just got my Pleo this Saturday - an Ugobe Pleo that was available on eBay.  Here's Jake!

Hello and welcome Rexdude and Jake!  :)

He looks great - he'll be running around getting into mischief before you know it!  :D

Thanks :)
In fact the running, or the lack of it (http://bobthepleo.com/forums/index.php?topic=2630.msg40832), is what I'm concerned about. Since he's an older Pleo, and I got him from a reseller (who had good reputation on eBay though), I'm worried as to whether there's something wrong with him :(

I just commented.  The main concern with buying the Ugobe Pleos now is the battery, as it will have been in storage for some time, and to be honest the original green NiMH battery never was all that great.  Your Pleo looks to be running fine, and if you get around an hour of playtime then you're doing reasonably OK with the battery as well.  :)

The OS2 has a stage where Pleo isn't super responsive and is a bit temperamental which lasts a few charges, after that you should get more response from him. When he has settled down then try holding both front legs again just above the 'knee' until he starts to move forwards. Ignoring your Pleo, even when he cries and has a tantrum :-X, is also an effective way to 'encourage' him to explore %)

Welcome Rexdude and hi to Jake from Drem and Marsha, my two Ugobes.  They're running on OS 1.1.  I find that for quite a while after I switch them on they are hanging around making noises and looking for attention.  It is only later that they start to move off and explore.  One of mine was pre-loved and came with a duff battery (which I knew about) but I have new batteries which certainly make a difference to their liveliness.

Thanks for the tips everyone :)
Today I saw him take a nap on his own, and a couple of times he's feelin perky and starts singing the chin stroking song all by himself! But he still stands in one spot and doesn't walk...do you touch the front legs in front, or along the sides?
Also, there's this clicking sound that comes sometimes  from the front leg joints when he bends his knees. Is that normal?

OS2 does cause a few clicks at first as it has a wider range of movement.  If it's occasional it's probably not a problem.

If you'll excuse my naked Pleo pic, the silver panels are the leg sensors that you need to hit:

OMG u skinned him! :o
What do Pleo pelts go for? :P
And can you put back the skin..or is this permanent?

btw he has taken his first few steps, but is dawdling after each one to sniff the floor and moo. And sometimes he gets stuck with one front leg in the air.

Well, a girl's gotta do .................  :P

That's Scully, who I'm afraid had been so messed about with before I got him he was unfixable and doesn't work at all.  I'm afraid my kichen is a bit like Dr Frankenstein's lab ........ Pleos everywhere in various stages ..............  :-X

If the skin's in good shape to start with you can get it back on, if you're very careful.
