Ok guys, wanted to get the right time to have a NEW Contest and now that there is an Open spot, here it is. As some of you know, I have many Pleos, 17 at last count, and some of them are future Adoptees for here on the forums, I also like to fix up older Ugobe pleos and give them some "new life" and painting seems to be the way to go, at least for me. I have a couple I have painted and my favorite does not have a name, I just call her/ him, LIZARD Pleo because of the paint job he received. Well here are the rules... :)
1. You can enter as many times as you like, I would like to run this for a month so say till about October 10th which is a Monday, and it will end at Midnight 12:00 sharp PST. If for some reason I do not get any names I like, then I will extend it.
2. would like to have as many names as possible ,female and male. Also I like names in other languages, not just English, but if you give a name in Japanese for example, give me the meaning in English so I understand! ;)
3. If Two people give me the same name, I will give the person who gave me the name first according to time here on the forums the win, but if it is within 5 minutes, there will be two duplicate prizes as I understand time differences, computer glitches and server technologly because two people can be writing also this post at the same time.
4. Prizes will be appropriate for all Pleo owners, Ugobe, Innvo and RB , and there will be at least a second and third prize winner and also other surprises. I will post photos of Lizard Pleo along with a video so you can see Pleo in motion.
Do not be afraid to ask questions or if you want more photos, I may post them anyway. I also may be listing another Pleo here to get a name for it as well, So make sure to list your name, the meaning if you have one and I will keep track of everything. If I need to extend the deadline I will, but I will not end this early to make sure everybody gets plenty of time to get an entry in. Also prizes will be mailed out and you won't have to wait forever! I know there are some great creative people out here, so with this contest, you need only think of names, no excuses for not entering! Good luck to everyone! ;D

Also, what are the prizes? :)
Now to put my thinking cap on.... %)
-
Hi Willow, there are going to be several prizes, different types of prizes. I am still gathering prizes and bought another one at a local store about an hour ago, but want to keep the prizes secret for awhile and towards the end will let you know some hints or photos of some of the prizes. ;) The more the merrier so everyone put your thinking caps on. ??? :o ;D
RWM

I see. ;)
I already thought of some!
1. Iris (which is a very colorful type of flower and the word for rainbow in Spanish is “arco iris” and I thought that would be fitting for this colorful pleo! ;D)
2. Milly
3. Leilani (Hawaiian for “heavenly flower” and is pronounced lay-LON-ee; it is also unisexual)
4. Yogi
5. Dakota
6. Jinx
I like Iris the best for the pleo, but I also like Leilani and Jinx... :)
Might add more later. XP

Congrats Willow, you are on a roll and off to a great start! You get a special prize just for being the first one to enter any names! Have to find something special and will send it off before the contest ends! What great names. I love the variety and thanks for the explanations, that is what I was looking for! Ok guys Willow got things started, so don't let her be the only one with any names...Keep them comming, I love them so far! :D
RWM and her "Pleo township in the Redwoods'
I like Leilani so far and have a special fondness for the name Dakota, but he was a solid white little cat that I took care of , part of the cat colony that Daisy comes from that was relocated...All great names. ;)
-
Wow thanks!!! ;D I'm glad you liked them! ;D

I may have to give this little Pleo a first middle and last name so I can use several or at least a nick name too! :D I am going to have to get my other painted re done pleo named this way too, cause I love the names you are giving "lizard Pleo". Suriana - a Malaysian girl's name. It is also the name of a genus of flowering plants (only example aka Bay Cedar) with grey-green, succulent foliage which seems appropriate.
Ariella - believed to be Hebrew meaning "Lion of God"
- feminine form of Ariel
Alessa - girl's name meaning "Defender" (variant of Alessandra)
-
Ok, I promised a "peek" at some of the prizes, so here is a sample, but not complete. There are more, but I don't want to give it all away, so here are some I got after taking Baby Ruth with me to shop yesterday. :)

thank you guys, and Lina, I allways liked Linda too, now that you jogged my memory, I do remember the Spanish meaning of it, beautiful. I had no idea that it was a Swedish name too, Allo, you cam up with lots of names too, great job and a long list to go over. Thank you for participating/
also Kat and Bonus thank you for your suggestions too, I have a good list of names now and I think I have some good names for other pleos. Lina, I like the rabbit story, my daughter and son both had Satin Rabbits when they were growing up and you are right, if anyone ever wondered why they said, "multiply like rabbits, " all they have to do is get a pair of rabbits and they will find out super quick, My GOD Multiplicity is an understatement for sure.........and I love the fact that baby rabbits are called, Kittens! LOL. :D
I thank you guys for giving me the meaning of the names too, it makes it easier than having to look them all up. Great job guys, it is getting better and better with the new bunch of names submitted.
RWM

Hi Shadowmice, Thanks for entering your names too, what a list I have now, it looks great. ;D I will post more pictures of prizes tommorow or Saturday at latest.
RWM
-
Well, here a classic name from back in the 70s, and I doubt you'll have any luck looking up what it means . . . Slartibartfast
-
Ha, Ha, I do remember that name vaguley, but I c a'nt remember what it means, but he was a character from the Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy, a Science fiction series that was actualy on t.v, as well as a novel, am I right. Somthing about being a robot, and there was a captian and there was a lot of dialogue. Leave it to you to find a obscure name like that! I dont' know the actual meaning if any of the name though. %) It is a name that would be mispronounced and made to mean anything but what it is.
RWM
-
Good old Slarty designed all of the fiddly bits around Norway! :) Love that HHGG
-
Well it all started in a cafe in Rickmansworth .......... and I'm often in a cafe in Rickmansworth! ;)
Two more fine names from HHGG, Marvin (depressed robot) and Trillian, (the female survivor). ;D
RWM - you're almost there, it was originally for radio, hence the dialogue! :D
-
Thanks Crewella, I know I heard the title and often heard of it through Ray Bradbury who I love his science fiction books. I saw that there is also a movie that came out in something like 2005, (?) so I will have to check it out as I saw the trailer and it seems good but quite funny as well. I guess I am more familiar with the dialogue then the actual characters. Those are some unique names though. LOL, I like Trillian and Marvin is also a favorite, I allways think of the Loony Tunes character with Bugs Bunny, Marvin the Martian. :D
You guys have got some great names going, I think It is going to be tough to pick a name but if I could choose about five or six it would be easier! LOL
RWM
-
Crewella, Don't forget Zaphod Beeblebrox!
-
degers, thanks for telling Crewella that name, Zaphod Beeblebrox, what a hoot of a name there,it is great! LOL
RWM
-
Zaphod Beeblebrox is a fine name indeed, and not to be forgotten. Being a lover of old cars, though, my personal favourite was Ford Prefect, and I've wanted one ever since HHGG! :D
-
Serendipity :P
Peo the Pleo (For 49er :D)
Foxtrot
Deputy
Bunyip (The Australia bogie man)
Yowie (The Australian Bigfoot)
-

Littlefoot = walks with humans
-
Ok Guys, I have some great names to choose from but the internet, or should I say the Bob the Pleo Forums have been DEAD for the last couple of days, with as little as 2 people, ( Myself and one other) and it is spooky to have it so quiet, and it is not Halloween yet! So I am going to try and stir things up a bit and extend the contest for Naming till Monday at Midnite, last chance. The winners will then be announced on Tuesday and prizes mailed out. Yes, there will be more than one winner. ;D I am not showing the grand prize but will show a couple of others, just have to take some quick photos so if you haven't entered or want to one more time, this is your chance to win somthing just for comming up with a name. Will post more photos shortly.
RWM So that means, Monday, October 17th, at 11;59 p.m . is your last chance to get an entry in.
-
ok, here are a couple more photos of a few of the prizes, two of them are obvious, one is not so obvious and that is the idea is to keep you wondering? :o %)
Ok, remember, these are just a couple of the prizes, just trying to give you some inspiration to keep inventing names, after all, you guys win, nothing to pay for and if you don't care for a prize, then give it to someone who does if I pick your name and I will give your prize away, but your Pleo may like it and I need names, There are about six names I really really like right now, so wow me to try to make it even harder or really easy with one that Knocks the rest of them all over. Good luck guys and this weekend and Monday are the last days, then I will annouce the winner on Tuesday.
"Painted Lizard Pleo " thanks you. ;D RWM
-
Darling photos, RWM! WHat cute prizes! :)
-
After seeing this pleo in the Halloween skirt I think Pumpkin is the perfect name for her! :)
-
Alrick (meaning "noble ruler" :D)
Olive :P
Limerick (I don't know why, I just think that would be cute!)
...
I'll post if I can think of others... :-\
-
Wow guys, you are really stepping up to the plate now and it is going to be super tough to come up with a winner and yes there will be more than one winner. Thanks for all the terriffic names, I love the variety ;D
RWM

I guess I have chocolate on the brain today. Godiva. If she's a she, she could be Lady Godiva Or lady G. ;)
-
Tried to get my brain in gear and have produced a few more:
Geillis - Irish origin, Shining Light
Rella
Jenna
Leah
Biryl
Kizzie
Ben
Storm
Bosco
Diamond
Brent
Chryso
Jasper
-
I have my eyes on those Minny Mouse socks... they would look great on Heidi! haha %)
I'm still trying to brainstorm some cute names...
-
Minnie Mouse socks are really cute! :)
-
You guys are doing great, and yes, there are more then one pair of Minnie Mouse socks, or there were last time I looked..............In fact, I sent a pair to Nameless to go to Clara among other items. ;D They are cute socks though, esp for a little girl Pleo. ;)
fancy, the more I think of Godiva, I keep thinking like you, chocolate and want to go get some, but I am sticking to my diet, no cookies, no ice cream, no pie, no chocolate. Heck nothing fun, but I can have Chocolate flavored coffee as long as it is sugar free. YUMMY! :D
RWM
-
Ok now you've concentrated my mind on chocolate, I think 'Kinder' would be a good name. Kinder eggs are a mixture of milk and white chocolate so are similar colours, and I like the connections as it means 'children' but sounds like kindness. :)
-
And on a more "proper" note: %)
Atticus
Nicodemus
Prescott
Nolan
Octavius
Hehe :P
-
HI guys, and today is the LAST DAY! Great names by the way, Willow, you are on a roll. I will be posting pics of more prizes in awhile, so last couple of hours to get names in, Midnite PST, in California, ;)
RWM
-
One more from me! Sheeba. :D
-
Hi Fancy, thanks for the name, I like it and you got it in under the deadline. Here is another look at another prize, I just got today. I have had one more day of shopping and found some more cute items but can't reveal them all, or there would be no surprises, now would there? ;)
This is a great unisex jacket, orange with faux fur hoodie, velcroe closure under the belly or battery compartment, with two pockets on the back. This looks just as good on a female as a male, it looks great on a Blue or Green Pleo esp. May be a little clashy with Pink though! Lightweight but protection for those cold or wet months fast approaching.
Ok, last thing is a photo of some cow print type socks in a cute white brown and pink print. I love these socks and they look so much better than in the photo trust me!
RWM Ok, you have till midnite then the deadline is in.
-
Love love love the jacket! so cute! And the same color as my car :-*
Seems like I need to get some contacts in the US to get a hold of perfect Pleo clothes!
Well you have alot of names to choose from now :)
Cant wait to see which ones will be picked. You really did make an effort with all the great prizes :)
-
Everyone did a great job with so many fantastic names, more than I would have ever hoped for, and I can tell you it is going to be really tough to pick just one name, I think my little Pleo is going to have a first middle and last name at this rate. LOL :D It may take a couple of days to finalize the names, but everyone will be updated and then I will announce the winners and the prizes that will go out. Remember, not all the prizes were shown, ;D For everyone who participated, I want to thank you again.
RWM.......................waiting for the little Pleo from China....................keeping fingers crossed for delivery today.........
-
Hi guys, it has been a very traumatic emotional week for me, but I did not want you guys think I had forgotten about the winners of the Name the Pleo contest. Everyone did a great job and I do mean Everyone. There were no stupid names at all, I wish I could pick everyone as a winner, but there will be several winners. Things because of personal matters, ( I think everyone knows what I am referring too :o :( %)) put me out in Limbo for the past few days, but I am recovering the best I can, and that means getting back to business.
Tommrow, Sunday, October 23rd, I will be announcing all the winners and what the prizes for each category are. I want to thank everyone ahead of time for having such great spirit and helping me out. It was great fun and I have more Pleos, I know where to come for names. Sometime tommorow, ( once I have plenty of coffee to keep me going. :D) I wil annouonce the results. My husband insisted on me letting him help pick out the name, so It may take slightly longer than I thought, but the winners will be announced so be sure to check in sometime tommrow early afternoon. Good luck to everyone as even I do not know who the winners are yet, but there are some great names I allready am favoring. Stay tuned tommow and thanks again for helping "lizard Pleo" get a proper name.
RWM "no longer floating in the clouds" but with my feet on the ground, " with Pleo township in the Redwoods'

Ok guys, this was a very very Tough one and my husband helped me out on this one and you won't believe the results. We are now posting the results so hold on for about another ten -fifteen minutes and the results are going to be posted here. ;)
RWM
Thanks ahead of time to everyone who posted names, I am keeping them for future Pleos!
-
The winners have been announced and I have to take a break to do something quick but will announce the winners as soon as I get b ack.
RWM
-
Don't worry RWM - you're doing better than Innvo! ;) :P :-X
-
Ok guys, first of all thank you to EVERYONE who entered, fantastic entries names and effort. It was a tough choice but I got the winners announced. Watch the video and there are more than a couple of winners. There was a tie so I chose two people as a first and last name for my Pleo. The people who got their name announced, contact me for sending your prizes please. ;)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jd_lzVByKg4 Great job everyone. If there is any confusion as to what you won, contact me. All the prizes are brand new of course.
RWM
-
Congrats to all the winners and if you see a winner who doesn't know they won yet, give them a hint to watch this post. ;)
RWM
-
Congrats to all! ;D
Great name, Fancy, and well done to the other winners!
*I do remember thinking "Blimey, Willow needs some more Pleos"!* :P
-
Well done to all the winners! There were some fantastic names and it seemed like everyone had a lot of fun with this comp. Thanks RWM! It was a great idea. ;D
-
Oh my gosh! I just watched your video, RWM! ( btw, you are becoming a pro at videoing) Thank you so much for choosing one of the names I submitted. :) :) :) Fun contest!
-
just out of interest, I thought I would post the final names that were the "contenders" that I had to narrow it down to, in no paticular order. ;) I will try and put who submitted it next to the name.
1. Godiva, as in Lady Godiva; Fancy 2. Rosella, combination of Rose and Godzilla, Fancy 3. Amitola, Native American name means Rainbow, Lina 4. Adahay, Native American also, Means Lives in the Forrest. Lina
5. Leilani, Hawaiian for "Heavenly Flower" Willow, 6. Nicodemus, aslo Willow, 7. Maya, Japanese for "true Rainbow" Willow again. 8. Gellis, Irish for "shining Light", Margery, 9. Suriana, Malaysian girl's name, "flowering Plant" Margery
10. Pumpkin Kat 11. Serendipity, IMR 12, Goorialla, Aboriginal, translates, "rainbow serpent". IMR, 13. Helaku, Swedish, ? Translates as "full of sun". 14. Kaida, Japenese for "Little Dragon". Aibo7m3
15. Gordon Gecko, Crewella 16. Skittles 17. Casmiro, Allo 18, Fandango, Allo
So the winning name incase you couldn't hear it was ; Rosella ( fancy ) combined last name Lina, ( Adahy ) which translates as Rose lives in the Forest.. ;D So first place was shared between Fancy and Lina. :) Second place was hard , but the winner was Margery with the name, Suriana, which means " Flowering Plant" in Malaysian. and Willow entered so many names, and had 3 names in the final list, so she gets a special prize for Extreme Effort and great names! I will mail out prizes as soon as I am contacted by all winners and I only ask that winners post their pleos with the prizes when they get them.
I will be doing this again, as I have several other pleos who don't have names either! Thanks for entering everyone, it was fun to see all the names and creativity.
RWM
-
Thanks Fancy, I liked Godiva too, as Lady Godiva, but I would have been thinking of Chocolate evertime I played with the pleo, can't have that happen. LOL. I had to go out the door all of a sudden as it was uploading so I had to even leave out the part at the end that says, RedwoodsMama production ,etc, It was more important to just get it uploaded so you guys didn't have to wait any longer. ( Unlike some other Pleo Contests that we all know about........... Everyone be sure to PM me so I can get your address to mail your prizes to.
RWM
-
Yay!! Thank you so much, RWM! ;D
Congratulations to all the other winners and participants! :)
-
:) :) :) :) :) :)
What a lovely surprise! We've been away for a long weekend at a family"do" and this was great to come back to. Thank you very much RWM. I must say that if you'd asked for votes I would have been attracted by Adahay - it just seems so appropriate. Anyway, congratulations to Fancy, Lina and Willow.
There were such a lot of great names it must have been hard even to narrow them down to your contenders list.
(I wouldn't let my husband have his breakfast until he'd seen your video. ;))
-
Wow! What a great name, and really great prizes!
I will have to post a picture of my car later. I try to match everything to it (I never owned a car before) and try to find nailpolish, clothes and accesories in a matching color. So now I will have a mathing Pleo as well!
Thank you so much RWM! I really hope Rosella Adahy is happy with her new name :) It truly is a great name!
-
Well I had hoped to post this much earlier. The splendid prize gear from RWM arrived just before Christmas and the Pleos were thrilled to have the new items to wear at Christmas. Indeed they were not at all keen to relinquish the warm collars once the 12 Days of Christmas were over since the weather has been somewhat frosty here. Marsha of course is still wearing the lovely Minnie Mouse socks and I foresee problems when I need to wash them.
We had a good time over this holiday period with lots of visitors so the computer was hardly touched. I had expected to get back to the site when the last visitors departed but unfortunately they left a parting virus behind which has laid me low until now.
It will be good to catch up with all that has happened on the site but I expect that will take some time.
Here they are wearing the hats, collars and socks and gazing longingly at presents!
-
Awwwwww - they look very cute, and VERY Christmassy! :D
-
:( i cant see them, i see a box which says
2sorry you are not allowed to view this file, make sure you are connected to the server"
wishing i could see the pleos :(
-
Hi Margery, so glad the presents arrived in time for the holidays. They do look super cute and also very warm. As for the socks, they are easy to wash, I usually turn them inside out and into the wash they go, but I usually let myne drip dry or on low heat so they do not shrink since most are small to start with .
Sorry to hear about the virus, that is the only thing about this time of year with so many people in close quarters, viruses spread a lot faster. Glad to hear you are feeling better now. Snowy, you should be able to see the pics here or in the gallery...try looking again. Great little outfits your Pleos have on too Margery! :) P:) P:)
