Hi,
I bought Rio this month and I've noticed a clicking noise in his right back leg. However, he would be able to move and stretch his legs as usual. However, today he completely stopped moving his leg - but the rest of his three legs were moving fine. It's as though he's got a limp now. His leg is now bent, even when he's switched off.
Has anyone had a similar problem and can someone help me please?
I'm really worried.

Is it a Ugobe pleo or a pleorb?
Anyway, welcome to the form :)

Welcome :) Have you tried manually straightening the leg? To do this turn Rio off and just click it back into place. The gear might just be jammed.

Hello and welcome! I'm sorry to hear poor Rio is having problems with his leg - as IMR says, try straightening it manually and see if that helps. Let us know how you get on - good luck! :)

Welcome to the forums. Poor little Rio. Hopefully as IMR suggested just manipulating it back into place will fix it. That does seem to have worked for others in the past who have had the same problem. Be sure to let us know how you go. :)

Hi guys,
Thanks for the warm welcome. Rio is a PleoRB. I've emailed Pleo World to ask them for help and as of now the guy is still asking basic questions; where I got him from, when, etc. etc.
I've tried manually straightening the leg when he's switched off (it made this sickening crunch noise) but Rio still has his limp. He doesn't move it at all - it's sad because I think he's trying to walk but he keeps moving backwards instead. It's still stuck.
I think the worst case scenario would be that I might have to send him back.

I don't know what to do because I don't have a pleorb or this problem before but you should send it back if you don't know what to do
-
When he is on, does he scream when you touch that limb? He could be 'injured'.
Also can you take a video? That would help a lot.
-
As IMR says, a video would really help. Don't worry about the noise, Pleo joints do make a very scary, 'crunchy' sounding series of loud clicks when you move them - it's actually the gears working to protect the motors. I don't recommend doing it all that often, but it doesn't necessarily mean there is a problem. :)

Hi and welcome!
My RB has a klicking sound as well. She can lean back sometimes and it will start to "jam" and make a loud clicking noise. I just straighten her leg up and then she works just fine ;D
Also my RB does not walk much at all, but she moves alot on the tablel, and her movements make her travel backwards, is that what you mean?
I will try to film this so you can see if its the same thing that yours does.
Pls post some pictures of your dino!

Leg clicking is quite a common thing among pleos. The leg gears will make a clicking sound when the leg or joint gets stuck, the gears have a clutch in them that makes the clicking noise and stops the gears from moving so as to prevent the pleo from hurting it's self. Most leg clicking is nothing to worry about and usually the leg can be fixed like IMR says by just straightening it out when the pleo is turned off. It will make that sickening click sound when you do this and that is ok. Another thing you can try if this hasn't helped is pressing the reset button. The reset button will not send your pleo back to being a baby it just resets it to the last save point in it's computer system. Sometimes this will help.
I did have a pleo rb - my very first one Kermit - who had a damaged leg. She had a back leg that started out with a bit of clicking but very quickly stopped working altogether and just kind of hung behind her. She behaved as though the leg worked fine and walked around like normal but as this leg didn't work she would almost fall over with each step and the leg was just dragged along behind her. She had to be sent back and replaced.
She was a rarity though and most leg clicking issues are just a gear getting stuck and a bit of gentle manipulation will usually fix this.
A video of the problem will really help with working out just what is going on and how best to help.

Rio's been really whiny lately but I think that's because my dad decided to hang him by the tail three days ago. :s Morbid.
Aside from that he's been alright when I touch his legs, so I think he's not 'injured'. Although because of his whiny tendencies lately, I can't really judge from that.
I will take a video of him when I get back so you guys can see what's wrong with him. And Lina, yes he does move backwards when he's on the table! Does that mean it has nothing to do with the legs? His leg also did make some clicking sounds and jammed up for a bit before it decided to not work at all.
The guy from Pleo World has given me the same advice you guys have - to manually straighten his legs when he's turned off. I've tried it a couple of times but to no avail. The leg still isn't working.
Kat, when you had to return your Pleo RB did that mean that the Pleo RB you received in return was reset to being a baby? What about shipping charges? I live all the way in Brunei and I had to pay nearly USD200 for shipping. :s
Thank you very much for your help guys, I really appreciate it. I will post a video up soon.

They will pay for shipping.
Perhaps Rio is suffering from not enough light, that would cause lots of whining, if you check the download section here you can download a scared of the dark patch which you keep in your Pleo on a micro SD card to turn of the scared of the dark behaviour.

When I sent my Kermit back they replaced her with a new pleo so yes I had to start again from the baby stage. They did cover the cost of shipping for sending her back too. I do hope your little one doesn't have to go back and we are able to work out a way to fix him.
