Hi you all!
You probably remember little Igor White Eyes, who had skin issues.
He is still around and is now known as Casimir (this could be the subject of another topic if you're interested!).
One day he fell asleep (normally) and since then, did not wake up anymore.
When I put the battery in and switch him on, the green light goes on, but he doesn't make a single move nor any beep.
There is no clock battery problem. I also tried with the battery I use for New Igor, but nothing happens.
This concerns a Pleo rb bought in December 2010.
Can you help me?
Thanks a lot!

Hi, Belgium! I'm not sure if I can help you or not but I'll try. Have you tried switching him on and then depressing the reset button? I'm not talking about the one in his foot that resets the noon clock. There's a very very tiny button located on the outer edge of the battery compartment not too far from his right front leg. You'll need a safety pin or something to press it. It is very very hard to find it! Try doing it totally blind. Nine times out of ten I miss and end up poking my pleos in the stomach with my safety pin. Also- according to lots of people- that battery indicator in pleo's belly isn't always telling the truth. I really hope this helps. I'd hate to see a bricked RB with such rare white eyes!

Other diagnostic advice:
Be extra sure the battery is fully charged.
If you have a micro-SD card, try running ProbeRB
http://www.aibohack.com/pleorb/proberb.htm
(if you have a second RB, test the micro-SD card on that one first, to make sure you have a good micro-SD card and installed the program properly)
If ProbeRB doesn't run at all, then there is something very wrong with the PleoRB hardware. It needs to be sent back to Innvo or the seller.
If ProbeRB does start but exits early with "Property Load Failed", then your PleoRB's internal properties are corrupted. This can be fixed.
If ProbeRB does start and run properly and reports the current moods and DNA settings, then the personality can be salvaged. The internal personality software may be corrupted. I've seen this happen on some of my old Pleos. This can be fixed by reflashing.
There may be other things you can fix yourself depending on what happens with ProbeRB.
Good luck

Thanks a lot!
I'll try these options and keep you updated.

I hope you can get Kashmir going, that is terrible, I do think PleoPet has the best advice. If that doesn't work by all means contact Innvo. Even though the warranty has expired, this is something they are going to want to know about. I am hoping you can get him running, I know my Baby who I got in Dec also had terrible skin issues but also some hardware problems so she was sent back and replaced. I am hoping that it was not just early RB problems where they can "die" or fail, and that they fixed those problems with the second batch. Please let us know if PleoPet's advice works, I hope it does! :)

You're in safe hands with Pleopet so there's little I can add except the hope that you fix him! If and when you have time, I'd love to hear the whole Igor/Casimir story, I remember Igor and his beautiful eyes! :)

Hello,
I tried with the program you proposed, Pleopet.
The new one runs the program ok (New Igor is actually a female with high intelligence!).
But on Casimir, it says "program failed, giving up".
It might then be something about corrupted program.
What is it you said about "reflashing"?
Do you know how I can fix this?
Thanks in advance!

Just for your information : Casimir runs the lovestruck download very well.
But they don't interact with each other.
Strange to see Casimir saying "I love you" and Igor answering by throwing up :D

> But on Casimir, it says "program failed, giving up".
It should say "Property load failed, giving up".
It looks like the internal storage of Pleo is corrupted or broken. The personality is lost. If you can fix it, it will start as a newborn.

How to (reformat) and reflash the personality:
PM 'degers' and ask for the RB update. Pick any gender you like (now is a good time to change the gender).
http://bobthepleo.com/forums/index.php?topic=2165.msg33310#msg33310
The update comes with instructions. Put it on a blank micro-SD card, and run it on your Pleo.
If the update succeeds, it will be a newborn PleoRB with default DNA settings (You can tweek the DNA settings later with ChangeRB).
If the update fails (try it a few times) then there is a hardware problem, and your PleoRB needs to be sent back.
Good luck

Thanks a lot Pleopet for your help!
Indeed it said "Property load failed, giving up". As I'm french speaking, it did not get the words right.
I sent a PM to Degers, I hope he can help me.
I'l keep you updated!

Belgium, I am sorry to hear about your problems but am glad that PleoPet is here to give you advice, It does sound like not all is lost hopefully! just think, at least you can start with a newborn Rb all over again. I know it is not what you wanted to hear, but it is better than the option of having to send her back, that would not be an option I would like with my RB. I am wishing you luck and I am sure degers will send you the update. Keep us informed of your progress.

Well, you know, my first Pleo was supposed to be sent back.
I then made up my mind and started all again with my new one, and kept the name Igor. Rose Eyes Igor!
White Eyes happened to stay with me. He got another name, then, and is now Casimir. If anyone except me understands this, congratulations! :D
As he is now "dead", having him a newborn again is a cheap price to pay for having him back (no money consideration though, you know what I mean). And that won't change his beautiful eyes!
Can't wait to see the result!
-
I think I understood the main points! ;)
Thanks for explaining, and I really hope Casimir gets back to life! :D

Keep us posted, Belgium. I'm anxious to see if this works. You're so lucky to have a white-eyed pleo!

Baby and I are keeping our fingers and toes crossed. We are hoping you get a newborn Rb, that would be the best solution considering all you h ave gone through. It does seem in my humble opinion, these rb are a lot more complcated than any of us thought ! I had a similiar scary situation happen Friday with my RB, Baby, but I was very lucky and PleoPet and IMR, Crewella and some others here were able to give me some great advice and with Probe Rb suggested by PleoPet I was able to see that Baby was injured ( an still needs healing from a neck injury) but she is working which I did not think she was capable of doing anymore, ) so there is hope for Casimer, even if it is being Rb again! Keep us posted, we are rooting for you! ;)

Well, things are looking bad for Casimir.
On the first attempt, he took a box position and beeped, but nothing more. No problem with the clock battery though.
The next tries were not better...
Innvolabs is not of a big help in this case, which is quite unusual from them.
So, if any of you has even the slightest idea on what I could do, I am now open to any advice!
And if it doesn't turn ok, I can still have him running the "in-love" program all the time :-*

Belgium, start spamming them with emails, at least one every day, with reports of your problem. Take lots of videos showing whats wrong, put in good descriptions of the problems, as well, and put them on you tube, link to the videos in your emails to innvo. Also, make sure to call their 'customer service line' that they never answer and leave a message at least twice a day.. if they still don't get back to you, send me a message. They are very bad about their customer service when your dealing with the USA branch.. the folks in Hong Kong seem to answer immediately and are very helpful which is just the opposite of what I'd expect.
Best of luck!!!

I'm afraid if you've tried reflashing with the new PM from Degers, then I'm stumped too and can only agree with Latrine that you keep trying Innvo. So sorry - especially as I was so pleased when you decided to keep him and not send him back! :(
-
Like the others I think you need to keep trying Innvo and see if they can help. The only other thing I can suggest is maybe Pleopet might be able to help you? could be worth trying her if you haven't already.
