Hi All.
Innvo is going to do a one time build on the battery adapter featured below, which would allow you to run your Pleo rb infinitely from a lab-bench type power supply, and also connect the USB cable to the RB at the same time, to allow the use of Dino-MITE and other similar tools in the rbPDK.
Please can you let me know if you are interested in one of these. The cost will be $50 USD, this does not include shipping.
A picture and a PDF of the instructions is attached.
Many thanks,
degers

degers, hi, I took a look at both the photos and also downloaded the pdf instructions but still am not sure what is this used for, other than or is it limited to run something such as Dino-Mite. Can you explain a little more in detail what this would entail as I would be interested, but would like a bit more information. This is not the e-blast comming from Innvo is it? Sounds great, but I just would like more information and I am sure there are others who would also want to know what this can be used for. Will this connect to most any PC, including Apple?
Thanks for the information and posting the pictures. Would this ship from the US? :)

The adapter allows you to access the Pleo via USB while it is powered up, for using the monitoring terminal i.e. Dino-MITE, or creating your own programs using the rbPDK.
If you do not envision yourself creating your own programs for the rb, then it is unlikely that you need to buy one of these.
I do not know which driver software will be available, it is likely to be related to the old Ugobe driver software, in any case I believe it is included with the rbPDK.

That is very cool, regretfully I have nowhere near the know-how to make good use of something like that :(
Do you require a bench top power supply, or is the battery functional as well? And how long do we have to place an order?
-
Now this makes me wonder. What can you do with the usb connection and no battery? As in the way that someone would use the usb connection without buying one of these.
-
This is very exciting. I also don't have enough computer know how for it to be something I could use but I am very excited to see they are making this. It will be great for those out there with the know how to be able to tinker and write software for the pleo rb. ;D Yay Innvo your doing a great job!
-
I'm sure it will be wasted on me and my feeble attempts to work out Pleo functionings, but I'd like one please! :-[
-
Oooh, I like the look of that. Yes, indeed I would be interested in one. :) I know I haven't utilized a lot of the capabilities these little critters have yet and it would be nice to have the option to work easily with the RB as well.
-
It would be a cool thing to have. I am interested to have one. Thank you

Does that mean they are about to make the RB PDK available? Or might they supply the drivers along with the adapter when they send them out?
Thanks for this, by the way, Degers! ;D

This is NOT a battery. You WILL require a bench-top power supply.
-
Right, thanks for clearing that up Degers :) That'll count me out, its not the sort of thing I have lying around unfortunately.

Yes i am interested,
Dan :)

I am interested as well.
Also Windows 7 64-bit compatible drivers would be much appreciated.
Other comments:
Even without a lab power supply, you should be able to attach the power connectors to a real battery sitting next to the PleoRB (even an old green or egg battery or any left over RC battery).
You can use the existing (old) PDK to create programs for the RB. You need a slightly tweeked 'sensors.inc'.
Right now you have to swap the micro-SD card a lot to test your programs.
The new adapter will make it easier to test your programs with 'printf' statements and other techniques.
Also for people who don't want to run their own programs, there are some things you can do with Dino-Mite. You can remotely control the robot (make it perform etc) as well as check its sensors. Not for everyone, but gives you a better understanding of what your pet is sensing and doing without having to touch the "PDK".

Thank you Pleopet - hugely helpful, as always, I was wondering about the power supply! :D

I never even saw this topic.. any news on this, are they actually selling them?

Hi PleoPet,
I'm working in children - Pleo_rb interaction at school. Definitively, it would be interesting to test little programs and use Dino-Mite for remotely control Pleo_rb. Have you experienced with the Pleo rb USB/Power Adapter? Could we use Dino_Mite through the USB Adapter?
Thanks a lot for your reply,
Kaeki

Still patiently waiting for this to happen ........ %)

If we could get a schematic - I could make more.
Did anyone figure this out?
