Ok time to pick a topic for the next photo scavenger hunt, this hunt will start the 1st July and run for one month.
-
Winter-- can you blame me? I'm a polar allosaurid! :D
-
Dinosaurs!! Of course! ;D
- Sarah
-
Oh, dinos, definitely! ;D
-
Well dinosaurs would be the obvious choice for me, but I also could do cuddly critters cause Pleo are cuddly as can be, but I could enjoy any scavenger Hunt and I like surprises, it makes it more interesting and more of a challenge, so surprise us is what I say! The only thing I do not want as a topic is Math or Politics, I hate math and would fail miserablly. I look forward to taking my herd or township out to get some fun interestng photos this time, Each time has been fun fun fun and I can't see this being any different. I do think it should be a level playing field where anyone from any part of the world can take part without having a disavantage of finding particular items. :) I can't wait for July 1'st!

What are the photo scavenger hunts? (I haven't been a member here long enough to have seen a past one.) Whatever they are, sounds like fun! :)
-
It's basically a way of getting people to take more cute pics of Pleos! ;)
I think this was the last one:

I get it now! :) I'll probably enter this one, it seems like a lot of fun!
-
Fab! The more the merrier! ;D
*Have to agree with RWN on math - I'm allergic* :-[

Me too. It always has been. Lol!

I don't know . . . math could be fun! You could, say, have one item be pleos demonstrating the Pythagorean theorem. You now, like maybe have a couple of pleos wearing togas standing around with a right angled triangle . . . or maybe dressed up as american indians with a couple of buffalo hides and a hippopotamus.

See? That probably makes perfect sense to everybody else ............ ??? %)

The pleos would probably be better at it and a heck of a lot quicker at it than I would. I do like the imagery that was presented, just the facts are ..............################lets just say not my cup of tea...I like basic math and when I can't count on my hands and fingers anymore I start getting lost. Lets also just say that when I went to school there were no computers, no caluclators. you were just given a ole fashioned chalkboard, and a piece of chalk and somtimes if it was a nice day out, and the village elder was in a good mood, you could go sit out in the sun, ( being ever observant for wild beasts.) and you could play in the fields, hide and go seek, Dodgeball, ( though it feels a lot better with a rubber ball instead of a large ROCK.......but the Rock is better than a fresh Buffalo Chip or what is caleld, "Bison Mudpie" ;D) I was best at "CHASE THE RABBIT" and Better yet at making berrie prints and herbal 101 where we got to gather anise, dandilion, slippery elm and many others for a " chemisty lesson, " ( Actually it was needed because there was no neighborhood drug store, so if you had a sore throat, itchy skin, or couldn't sleep, you were allways given a good drink or good tonic or ointment for whatever ailed you. ) Actually I miss those days, they were a lot simpler and you knew what to expect. I mean when one classmate had the whooping cough, or chicken Pox or measles, you knew you were not going to have to go to school for awhile, because it was just a matter of time till you got them as well. ( and sure enough I had all of those ailments, but many more they didn't bother to mention... >:( :( OH well, those were the good ole days and Bob was not even born yet...and Math was still couting in the sand with a stick..........................for me anyway. ;)

You just gotta know the theory . . . see, there were these two warring indian tribes.. One day, this tribe makes a raid on the enemy camp and kidnaps the chieftain's son. This chief it seems had two wives, only one son. Well, in retaliation, the chief got his braves together and they went and raided the first tribe's camp and kidnapped that chief's only wife.
A meeting was suggested for the two chiefs to come together and discuss terms for peace. The one chief set up a big tent in a neutral area, with a big fire pit in the center and two chairs (one for each chief). Next to his chair, the chief also laid out two buffalo skin rugs for his two grieving wives to join him. The other chief arrived, bringing his prisoner with him, and saw the first chief with his two wives and noticed that the empty chair and the also empty bear skin rug next to it.
"Be seated. We discuss peace treaty." said the first chief.
"Where my squaw?" demanded the second chief, "She must be here on skin next to me, as your squaws next to you. I bring son with me."
The first chief realized he had forgotten his hostage and quickly sent his braves to get her. Back at their camp, the braves grabbed the chief's wife, but couldn't find a spare horse for her to ride, so in desperation, they used the only other mount available, the tribes pet hippopotamus.
Meanwhile, the two chiefs argued back and forth, unable to come to a compromise. An elder from a third tribe was brought in to mediate. He looked at the one chief with his to wives and their son, the other chief's prisoner.
"Want son back." Said the chief.
"Want wife back" Said the other chief.
"Is good trade?" Asked the first.
The mediator looked at the second chief and the empty bear skin, and them back at the chief who had no prisoner. The mediator looked sad. But just then, the group of braves rode up with the hostage wife, and the mediator got a big smile on his face.
The turned to the two chiefs and spoke. "It well know. It proven fact." he said, "Great, wise brave from long, long ago . . . the warrior Pie That No Rust have theory. He say that squaw of hippopotamus equal to son of squaws of other two hides."
-
Oh good grief! :o
Thanks mweed - all is now clear as ..................... mud! :P :D
-
Well I know there is some great pearl of wisdom there, but it went right over my head. I just was not good at these things, if they are hidden, I usually miss them, but I appreicate the story and I can visualize the group in the Teepee and the squaw on the hippo, it is worth it just for that!

That's um an interesting story about the pythagorean theorem... It actually is funny though :). Pretty much any theme sounds fun to me.
-
Hey it's better than the explanation I got at school... Sort of %)
-
;D ;D ;D ;D Love it!!!
Makes me think of the programmers joke I saw:
Why can't programmers tell the difference between Halloween and Christmas? Because 31Oct = 25Dec.
(Any programmers here will probably get it - everyone else, never mind, my apologies. Yeah, I know ... I'm a computer geek)
-
Mweed, what have you started? :o :D :D :D
How many computer geeks does it take to change a lightbulb?
.................. it's dark in here?
:P
-
How many altos does it take to change a lightbulb?
Three-- one to actually do it, and two to ask "isn't that a bit high for you?" :P
Now, how many sopranos does it take to change a lightbulb?
One-- she just holds the lightbulb up, and the world revolves around her!! :D
-
To get back on topic for a sec, it is so far a tie between winter, summer and dinosaurs so we may end up with a winter and summer dinosaurs theme...
I now return you to your scheduled programming...
How many Computer Tech Support people does it take to change a lightbulb?
Hmm better ring support and ask...
Ring-ring ring-ring, Ring-ring ring-ring, Ring-ring ring-ring, Ring-ring ring-ring, Ring-ring ring-ring, Ring-ring ring-ring, Ring-ring ring-ring, Ring-ring ring-ring, Ring-ring ring-ring, Ring-ring ring-ring, Ring-ring ring-ring, Ring-ring ring-ring, Ring-ring ring-ring, Ring-ring ring-ring, Ring-ring ring-ring, Ring-ring ring-ring.....
-
I know that's right! Tech-support at most companies I've dealt with is a nightmare! Oh and let's not forget the tech-support people who manage assistive technology. You'd think that with the size of their market- smaller than mainstream markets- that you could get to the person you needed to to help with your problem. Maybe by the seventh transfer. Anyway, not sure if I could participate in this scavenger hunt but it sounds like a lot of fun. Are we supposed to be coming up with ideas?

Maybe the scavenger hunt should be to find the Tech Support people!
-
oh, now Complete randomness and Dinosaurs are tied - hmmmm. Completely random dinosaurs? ???
-
What I like about Complete Randomness is that it can be anything and you can still include Dinosaurs in it! For example, if one of the things you have to find is somthing related to taking a photo in a bank, a coffee shop, a gas station, a drug store , the fire department or a Town Official ( one of the last ones we had to do) your pleo can be involved in any or all of those if you are brave enough, fun and involve your Pleo. I can't think of anything You can't involve your Pleo in if you want to. ( the one exception may be the inside of a movie theater....unless you can sneak it in and don't make noise, ) or in a church ....that may be a little much... :( :o) The idea is to be creative and have fun whatever the final poll results are. ;D :)
My guys are raring to go now! RedwoodsMama
-
Completely random dinosaurs? if that's not Bob, I don't know what is! ;) :D
-
Oh come, after all this time I thought you peeps would know me better than that :D Completely random will be pretty mad capped ;D ;D ;D
-
hhhhhhhhhhmmmmmmmmmm.............
How about pleo goes to Jurassic park.........
Now there's a foot scavenger hunt in it's self!
-
IMR, any idea yet of when this next Scavenger Hunt will start and run to? I want to do the "name the Pleo contest", but not untill the Scavenger Hunt is over, so I have an idea of when it will be, roughly anyway. I am in no hurry, just would like to get a time-frame if possible. Thanks. ;) This will be one contest that I won't be entered in, but get to pick the winning name or names if I decide to put two dinosaurs up for naming, and that is a possibility! :)

It'll be kicked of (started) tomorrow and it will be running until the 1st August.
-
Thanks IMR, that helps a lot, I will be looking forward to tommrows announcement and see exactly what the scavenger Hunt will be. Sounds like lots of fun ...can't wait! :)

Your comp is in an entirely different category to this one, so feel free to run it alongside. Although you may want to wait for the pet photo comp to end, just so there isn't too much happening at once.
-
I'm ok with the random dinos........ aslong as one of those locations doesent involve a toilet........ or a book shelf........ or sky diving...... :-X
-
Well we are supposed to get the update on all this stuff today whenever IMR is here so we will soon find out what the category is..Doesn't matter much to me one way or the other what it is, I just will have fun with whatever it is and I know the rest of the members will as well. ;D

I believe all the above will be compulsory for at least one category ........... simultaneously ............ ;) :P
-
Ok I want to see someone sky dive on the toilet now :D
The scavenger hunt will be up soonish, just putting some final details in :)
