Title: Opportunities abound
Post by: mweed on March 07, 2009, 07:42:56 PM
I usually take Bob to the office with me several days a week.  No one at the office had any idea what a pleo was, other than the fact that I had a dinosaur at work.  Now, the company I work for sold the group I am in to another company.  Because of this, my office moved to the building where the new company is located.  So I spent time last week packing up, they moved everything over the weekend, and last Monday I arrived at the new office and started unpacking.  As a result, I didn't take Bob in until Thursday  Well, when I got to work, I followed a woman into the builoding that I had never met.  We got on the elevator, headed to the same floor.  As we rode up the elevator, she noticed Bob.

"Is that a pleo?" she asked.

"Yes, it is." I responded, surprised that someone knew what a pleo was!

As it turns out, she had been researching pleos for several months trying to decide if they are worth buying.  The sad part is, in all her research, she had never heard of Bob the Pleo, or found our forums.  Somehow, in all her reading reviews and searching the web, we were never one of her stops.

So what are we doing wrong?  The opportunities are all around.  People are looking for and getting pleos.  They should be coming here first, and THEN, if they still want, they can go sign up on PleoWorld . . .  ;)

As fancyfont said, Most online is only 13?  We need to get more people!  50 people joined in December, 39 in January, and only 23 in February.  And so far only ONE this month!  This is not looking good!

Once when I was in a store next to some baby clothes I took pleo's clothes of to try some on and this lady with a stroller was walking toward me,so I moved. I was watching her move beside Clover but since she didn't have any clothes on and wasn't  turned on she stopped and slightly picked her up.She said " Hmmmm, pleo." But then she said "Is this yours?" I nodded. She then apolagized. After I was left wondering if she actually knew what a pleo was.I may never know.

You are so right, Mweed. Now lead by example 'grand poobah'. ;-) How can we get the word out? Gimme some suggestions, and I'll gladly help out.

Short of hacking the PleoWorld site (or arm wrestling Caleb Chung to change the links on PleoWorld to point to us), the best thing you (justbede or the rest of us) can do is basic site promotion.  Link to us from your sites, blogs, facebook, etc.   Mention (and link to) us where appropriate on other forums.  Take a few extra clicks to search for us in Google/Yahoo/etc. and then click on the link in the search results to visit the forums site.
