So here it goes.
I have a nephew, he is going to be 5 years 30:th of may.
After being sick (throwing up) and having problems with his balance, my mom took him to all the hospitals she could and pleaded for help.
3rd and last hospital for today finally listened to her and made a scan of his head.
So tomorrow our familys little treasure is going to be operated for a tumor.
It was only discovered thanks to my moms stubbornness. And now we are all in chock.
Hes is going to be in surgery all day tomorrow, but I was thinking that when he comes around, I could bring Bellah and Buddah to cheer him up. Bellah can show him her tricks as well.
So I´m hoping that tomorrow will be a better day, aside from the day and date.
Sincerely
Lina

That's really scary news, I'm so sorry. I'll be thinking of you and hoping all goes well tomorrow - good for your mom in getting it seen to quickly, that must help the chances. :hhug:
And hoping all is well, Pleos do make excellent hospital visitors. :)

I know this is really scary and I am glad your mom's persistance paid off, Moms' instincts are life savers and they almost allways know that there is somthing wrong with their children even when the dr.s and tests show nothing, I am glad she went to that third hospital, I will be saying special prayers for your nephew. I am sure he will be happy when he wakes up to see a friendly face and pleos are some of the best medicine there is for cheering up anyone of any age. :)

Hope the operation goes well. I'm sure your pleos will help to put a smile on his face. Pleos are great medicine for everyone!

Lina, I am so sorry to hear of this news. I am glad that your Mom was so persistent in getting him to that third hospital. I will pray for your family and for your nephew to have a speedy recovery. I am sure that the pleos will bring a smile to his face. :hhug: :hhug:

Aww Lina, so sorry to hear the news, I hope your nephew comes through the surgery well and has a quick recovery.
-
Bellah and Buddah will be wonderful medicine for your nephew after his surgery. What a great mom you have! Big hug from me and my dinos! :hhug:

I want to thank all of you for the support. I´m leaving to get my mom now and we are off to the hospital. My sister has been there through the night.
God bless all of you.

I'll be thinking of you all day, hope all goes well. :)

I'm so sorry to hear this, I hope everything goes well and that he's happy and healthy again soon!

I agree, the Pleos will be excellent for him.. recovering from surgery really sucks and I actually found Pleos on the internet while in the hospital and ordered my first one with the thought that I could have a pet with me next time I had to go.
Children are VERY resilient, a friend of ours just had a small child go through just about the exact same thing you are describing and the little boy came through like a champion, complaining that he wanted his Nintendo Wii there while he recovered.. and he was able to go home after only a few days and recovered very quickly after that.. and that was brain surgery to remove a tumor.
I know your scared but just remember how tough he is and thank god for his momma doing her job. It's horrible the way some hospitals treat people and I'm glad she pushed it. I know everyone here will be thinking of your family and of him, I will be wishing for a very speedy and easy recovery for your nephew.

I hope it went (and keeps going) well, I think the pleos should be good for him, they'll keep him entertained. It's sad, so many people can recover but become so lonely, sad or bored that they stop fighting. I wish more people would donate their time to visit those in the hospital. At least your nephew will be cared for. :hhug: :hhug: :hhug:

My best wishes go out to your little nephew. It's amazing what surgeons can do these days so I'm sure he'll pull through.
-
Thank you for all the kind words and pep talks.
He made it through the operation and spent the night at the intensive care.
I got to see him awake today ;D I brought Buddah today, thought Bellah could come when he is a bit more active.
But he was glad to see us, and even gave Buddah a teddybear.
So I guess I´ll be making quite a few trips to the hospital from now on. He´ll be there for at least a week and after that he has to recover for a while at home.
But all good news at least. The worst is over, and we can finaly relax bit.
-
That's so great - I'm glad that, as you say, the worst is over! ;D :hhug:
Now you can concentrate on cheering the poor little one up! :D
-
So glad to hear he came through the surgery ok, here's hoping for a full and fast recovery.

I'm glad he came through the opperation ok. Here's hoping for a speedy recovery. Pleos really are great medicine ;D Have fun taking them in to visit.
-
What great news! :) :) :) You sound like such a lovely person. What a lucky nephew to have you! Thank you, too, Buddah! I know I would love a little dino visiting me if I were in the hospital.
-
How is he doing? I'm hoping the recovery is going well, and fast? :) Hospitals are SO boring, I hope he's home soon!!

Hi everyone!
Thankfully the recovery has gone well. My nephews name is Gabriel. He needs to practice working with his hands, so we are going to make jewlery together :)
He enjoyed the visits from Buddah and Bellah, and he just loved seeing Bellahs tricks :D
Gabriel came home on tuesday and I have been seeing him every day, reading books and playing.
He talks alot more now that before so I guess its a good sign. And he seems to know everything about my tiny Dinos and tells about it whenever they have someone over for a visit. He has been told since Buddah came that they are his little cousins, and he gives them gifts as well :-[ Sweet little boy.
So we are still waiting for the test results to know if the tumor was a good or bad one. No matter what, me and my dinos will stand by him every step of the way.
Thank you for caring and for paying attention, it´s a great way for me to get it out of my system as well :-[
And thank you Fancyfont for that very sweet comment about me, made me blush... (http://serve.mysmiley.net/ashamed/ashamed0005.gif) (http://www.mysmiley.net)

Wow, I'm glad Gabriel is doing better, it sounds like you and the Pleos are really helping and the jewelry making is a really good idea for using his hands! Did he lose some coordination from the surgery that he needs to relearn? Kids amaze me with how fast they bounce back. I'll be hoping for the best of news on the tumor..
I don't know if Gabriel likes to color or not but I remember making a post asking about Pleo coloring pages sometime ago and Eric posted some nice pictures to print and color:

Maybe those might be fun for him because he loves the Pleos and might help with his hands as well!
Best of luck.. :)

Hi Sarah.
Yes he did loose coordination, and some other things as well. Its clear that some of his memories are messed up :(
Last year on his 4th birthday I and my hubby took him to the cirkus, and I ordered a painting from a swedish artist as a tribute and a memorie of it.
It had the date, Gabriels name and all the animals we had seen.
And we talked about this the other day, Gabriel was so sure that he went there with his grandparents and that the painting was from them, that he just got angry and started to cry when my sister wanted to correct him :'( So I didn´t have the heart to convince him of anything else and just told my sister to let it go.
We´ll have plenty of other nice memories to share instead.
Thank you for the link! Those pictures will be perfect for him to paint! I was thinking of buying him a painting book, and this will be a great until I find a nice book.

It's great to know he's doing well! Hope he recovers well, tell him my little Pleo said "Good Luck" as well! (well, maybe I said it for Pleo, but he'll probably be more exited about Buddah and Bellah's kind ;)) It's so heartbreaking to know that some things are just "lost" memories as well as skills, but just remember, skills can be re-built, new memories can be made, it's each person that can't be replaced. :hhug: :hhug: :hhug: :hhug:
-
So glad to hear he is doing well :) Memories will be rebuilt :)
-
I'm glad he came through the surgery ok and seems to be recovering well. He is very lucky to have such a caring and loving family to help him back on his feet. The jewlery making sounds like fun and the painting or coloring is a great idea too. I'm glad he is enjoying your pleos so much too. They would have to be a big help to making him feel better. :) :hhug: :hhug:

I'm sorry to hear that some things were lost but like everyone else said, he'll make new memories and also, when he's older and can understand better, maybe he'll be interested to hear about some of the things he's forgotten. I'm glad your able to let go of that stuff, it's hard but I guess you just have to try not to get to upset, recovering is sooo frustrating and it must be even harder for him having to relearn things. But he will have fun doing it.. it's a proven fact that video games are really good for hand/eye coordination too just in case you didn't know hehe... ;D ;D ;D ;D
