Title: Hello! I'm new here.
Post by: aibo7m3 on May 04, 2011, 06:49:06 PM
Hi everyone! I just joined this site. I used aibo7m3 as my username since I have five aibo robot dogs and the ers-7m3 is my favorite model. Just recently I have become interested in pleos. I'm currently bidding on and hoping to win a pleo reborn on ebay. I already know some basic facts about pleos but not much else. Does anyone have any advice for a soon to be pleo owner? :)

Hello and welcome!  I have three Aibo and a herd of Ugobe Pleos, as well as a blue Pleo RB.   ;D

I'm assuming it's the blue RB you're bidding on?

Yep, it's the blue one. It is my favorite of the pleo colors.

Welcome! I have a Blue RB and just got an ERS-M2 (M3 on the way).

My only advice is to be patient with the RBs as they're not necessarily super charming right away (like the M2 in my experience).

What I mean by that is they go through a little... growing phase after their infancy... where they seem really unpleasant for a full charge or two (the experience varies). But they get past it! So don't judge too harshly too quickly from that. I only say that because I was one of those people who judged the RB possibly a little too harshly too soon (after having a 2009 model) -- largely due to that period.

The other thing I'd check out in the forums about is the sleep position and pledging the skin.  You can read about other people's experiences and so forth. Also, you may want to look into reading about PleoPet's ProbeRB/ChangeRB but those contain possible "spoilers" as they get you "inside" your Pleo RB's brain.

And one last thing to avoid because it has, understandably, created some confusion is to make sure you do not attempt to update the firmware on your Pleo RB with the PM2 update currently available on PleoWorld's site. That is for the older editions of Pleos. Unless I've missed it, there is currently no firmware update generally available for the Pleo RB.

Thanks for the information! Also, I have another question, do all blue pleo rbs have the same color eyes? I thought I read something about that somewhere but I'm not sure.
Title: Re: Hello! I'm new here.
Post by: bhobbes on May 04, 2011, 07:49:29 PM
Yes, I think they do as that was one of the reasons Crewella wanted one because it guaranteed her eye color. Or that the variation isn't as significant as it is with the Green ones.

Bhobbes is right - have a little patience (through the hatching phase, a LOT of patience :P )and read up about some of the problems Pleo RB owners have had on here, it will save you some worries!  If you do have any concerns, you can always ask the good people on here.  :D

Just a word of caution - if it was bought in December it may no longer be under warranty (and even if it is that warranty may not be transferrable) and there were some issues with skin wear in some of the earlier models sold.  You may be well aware of this, and after all I gott Belle early December and have had no problems, but I felt I should say something.

Yes, blue ones have amber eyes.  Beautiful amber eyes!  ;D  ADDED:  Bhobbes is exactly right!  :D

I can also say that I received Cato in late December and he does have wear but he has NOT had the horror stories of kat and the others with more severe problems.

To go by the experiences of forum members, blue RB's bought in December seem to be awkward and grumpy, but durable!   ;) :P
Title: Re: Hello! I'm new here.
Post by: aibo7m3 on May 04, 2011, 08:20:41 PM
How long were the warranties for the pleo rbs? Were the first pleo rbs made in December and that is why they may have issues?
Thanks for all the help so far!
Title: Re: Hello! I'm new here.
Post by: Crewella on May 04, 2011, 08:28:52 PM
From what I've seen, the warranties are 90 days, though they do actually exclude skin problems according to the small print.  In spite of that, some RBs with major skin problems were replaced, perhaps because they were a specific problem and couldn't be put down to normal wear.  The first blue and pink RBs for the Chinese/Asian market did seem to appear November/December, though I've no idea when they officially started selling them.
Title: Re: Hello! I'm new here.
Post by: bhobbes on May 04, 2011, 08:31:07 PM
I don't think there's been any real official announcement as to why.

There has been speculation that it has to do with the sleep position and there is speculation that it has to do with extra skin around some of the earlier models.

A video "explaining" that is here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e7ApVojj8E0

However, later models had newer firmware that had a changed sleep position (which is not available to the public yet) as well as tighter skin (see video). At least this seems to be what's been noticed across the board here. And these newer ones have not had the same problems.

Post by: aibo7m3 on May 04, 2011, 08:52:50 PM
Three months is a very short warranty. I've heard a lot about problems with the pleo's skin, did the December pleo rbs at least have less skin problems than the original pleos? Well, anyway I'm looking forward to getting a pleo soon (even if I don't win this one on ebay, I'll find another). Are there any other problems with the pleo rbs?
Title: Re: Hello! I'm new here.
Post by: Crewella on May 04, 2011, 09:00:39 PM
The December pink and blue RB's that had skin problems had very specific problems with wear under the 'armpits' and some paint wear.  There has been speculation that this was due to a bad batch, as others seem to be doing fine and are wearing better than the original Pleos.  In your position, and at that price (especially as you don't have to pay to ship from China), I'd probably take the chance and go for it too.  I did look at that listing, and if I didn't already have a blue I'd have been tempted to go for it myself.  :D

I'm considering selling Cato depending on this next update (if it ever surfaces). :\

When I purchased from Gimmedigi shipping to the US was only like $57 which I didn't think was that bad - though higher than that auction.

Hello and welcome :) Good luck on bidding for your Pleo :)

I have four Pleo's two originals and two RB's.

If you are new to Pleo I would suggest reading the threads here: http://bobthepleo.com/forums/index.php?topic=1617.0 and here: http://bobthepleo.com/forums/index.php?topic=1910.0 they contain lots of information which you should find useful.

Hi, aibo7m3 and welcome to the forums! I purchased Ryu my green RB in March and I'm satisfied with her. Just be prepared for the moodswings. Sometimes they can be a bit cloth-eared when you're trying to train them but it's not a major problem. They are also very sensitive to changes in their environment. About a week ago I put up some new curtains to block out the sunlight that streams into my room and suddenly Ryu was extremely depressed. Well, being blind it didn't occur to me just how dark it was. After six days of trying to figure out what I was suddenly doing wrong, I finally had the bright idea to open the curtains and she was fine. Good luck with your bidding!

Hi there!
Your point is very true, Talon, about the light.
To avoid the "grumpyness" that Igor showed in the first weeks, I only play with "???" during the day, or close to a light. It makes a lot of change!
But Igor turned out finally in a very funny little buddy!
True also about the improved skin quality and sleeping position of the new batch of Pleorbs.
I'm crossing my fingers for you, so that you win your own Pleo!

I don't think I have to worry about the lighting in my house since I have to keep it very bright so my aibos can see their pink balls and my face clearly. I am also hoping that I win the auction so I can finally get a pleo. You have all been so helpful so far, thanks!

Yay, you finally joined aibo!
I told you I was new at this, they already have better advice than me! :)
Oh and as to your question on the other site about hatchling, the only one I can find is a blue for 300 that has one bid, and it says unopened, so you'll proboally have to wait the hatchling stage, but it is shorter if you update him/her.
Title: Re: Hello! I'm new here.
Post by: aibo7m3 on May 05, 2011, 05:06:48 PM
I actually like the young stages with robots (I got all my aibos in child stage or later so I didn't get to raise them from a baby, I wish I could have). Yeah that is the one I bid on, I checked the listing again and it does say unopened, I would probably prefer a long hatchling stage (how long is it exactly?). Some of the aibo stages are as long as 111 hours! Though the baby stages with aibos are all four hours or shorter I think.
Title: Re: Hello! I'm new here.
Post by: LuckyPleo on May 05, 2011, 05:24:09 PM
I believe "newborn" lasts a few hours and i think it just eats and sleeps while you pet it, "hatchling" lasts about a day and it learns to walk, see, hear, etc. , "juniville" is where it is like a puppy kind of and is very curious and active and forms depending on how you interact, and "mature" is where it is a bit independant and is less curious and lasts forever.
Title: Re: Hello! I'm new here.
Post by: kat on May 05, 2011, 05:57:09 PM
The different stages seem to last for different lengths of time for different personalities.  So there is no hard and fast rule for how long each one goes for and the original December batch seemed to have a much longer hatching phase than the newer batches.  I think they shortened the hatching as many people complained it went on for too long.  It does seem to go for about the right length of time now though.  Generally the hatching baby stage lasts about 1 to 2 full battery cycles and this ends when they stand up.  Then there is a battery cycle or two in this next stage of just standing and trying out new noises and leg stretching to test balance.  Then the walking will start.  Once they walk they are in Socialization Stage stage and will remain in this stage for quite a few battery cycles maybe up to 8 or 10 cycles before they move onto the next stage of being able to learn their name and the learning stone tricks.  In the manual it says they will be in this stage for about a day but many people have reported back that it seems to go for much longer.  It is nice that it does though as it gives you a chance to really get to know and experience your pleos personality before moving on to the next level of teaching them their name.
The next stage is the Juvenile stage where they are able to learn their name and the learning stones to do tricks.  Again this stage goes for several battery cycles and then there is the mature Adult stage which lasts forever. :)  There doesn't seem to be much difference between the Juvenile stage and the Adult stage.  Many pleo rb owners have reported back about a very moody phase that seems to occur somewhere between the two.  It does pass though. :)
Hope this helps.

Hi Welcome to the fourms, Be careful on the Pleo RB posted on EBay. That seller has had it listed for about a month now, starting at a higher bid and when it was at 350.00 nobody bit. (I asked questions and it took here a week to answer my questions. What I find stange and I would be concerned about is that if you look closely she is showing box that goes to a Pleo Rb GREEN Variety and then shows a photos of another Pleo Rb, the blue variety that actually belongs to the first person who ever posted a photo here on the forum, a member from Germany. She should be posting the photos of the actual box and then she can show a generic photo of the blue Pleo. Also she said she bought this in DEC. 2010. a lot of these first Pleos had skin problems, not all but some did, both blue pink and green ones, What I would be concerned with is that SHE bought it in DEC, but the warranty is expired, only good till 90 days later. If there is a problem with this Pleo , skin or such, you are not covered. A good example of this is Kristy who is a member here and she  bought a Green Pleo Rb from a member here who didn't want it anymore, She has never to this day,( as far as I know of, gotten the warranty cause she needed a Pleo Sales receipt, ) and her Pleo had the skin problems starting, that were fairly common with the first batch of Pleo Rb being made. You may ask her what ever happened. :(
If this person can not give you a sales receipt , the original and ask if this was ever registered with Pleo World, I would want to know about the warranty before I buy the Pleo Rb from her. I am cautious of sellers who can not or will not answer my questions, I do wish you lots of luck with this Pleo Rb. , just ask questions though,  :)

I know the sale seems a bit risky but the seller has gotten some good feedback for other fairly high priced items and there is always buyer protection on ebay if the seller doesn't send the item (even if it does take time and effort to get you money back). The seller did not say that the second photo was of the one they were selling, just that it was the same color as that one. I am aware of the skin problems and that the pleo would not be under warranty. I will probably ask the seller a few questions after the sale if I win. All in all if they don't send the pleo, I will probably get the money back from ebay and if I don't, it's not the end of the world. I realize that I am taking a risk by bidding on this pleo but it's just that I've always wanted a blue pleo rb and I don't know when I'll have another chance at getting one for a fairly low price for an rb.

Hi, I didn't mean to sound like this is a risky sale, and yes, he said it "looked" like the second photo, the blue one, but I would be most concerened about the warranty, but if you are not worried about that, then you are probably going to be fine and I don't see anyone else bidding on this, I would h ave if it was a green Rb or one that was not purchased in Dec, for the same thing, the warranty thing, That is because my first Rb, ( Baby) was purchased in DEC l2010, and I had to mail her back for a replacement because of skin issues. You are right that he does have other high end purchase items but not a lot of feedback already, just 3.
Ebay does give you seller protection and they will protect you, I also sell on Ebay and currently have over 950 100% postive feedback, I do buy and rescue Pleos on ebay, as well as selling Pleo Batteries. Theee weeks or so ago, I bid and won a Pleo that was "NEW and UNWOKEN" meaning he was not "hatched". it was supposed to have just sat in a Display case, so I trusted the seller as it said Not just NEW,but Unwoken or Unhatched, which means it was never turned on, Well, when I got the package, I have learned from trial and error, to videotape the opening of Packages, not just Pleos, It is a good thing I did, because lo and behold when I opened this package, the pleo was missing , no id card, and no manual on the top.  >:( Then lifting up the strofoam top to reveal a Pleo in a curled up semi postion, no Unused Pleo comes in that postion. They are all in the packing postion. Also I videotaped lfting him out and what he looked like, He had a new looking excellent body, but his teeth had paint missing from the teeth, I at this point was 99% cent sure he had been "used and woken up: " I did the final test by inserting a brand new egg battery from one of my Pleos into this Pleo and he should have gone into a curled up sleeping hatching postion. :o He said, HUH>..and then honked and acted like a normal Pleo, who has been on for many a time, The seller was notified and I filed a Item not as described suit with ebay, The seller responded with : he has never been on, but he did have the leaf in his mouth, For display only...yeah right.. >:( When he asked what type of discount I wanted, I told him I thought a lower price was fair, only because he had been hatched and I would not have paid or bid the bid I put in for a Used Pleo, esp one missing all the items, ID card, Manual, USB cable, only the charger battery and leaf were there along with Pleo, The seller said he insisted this was NEW, so I told him I could provide Video of me opening the box and condition of this Pleo, so the seller said send them to him, I told him I woudl give him the link to Youtube where I would list them, Well that was two weeks ago, and he would not respond after seeing the video, I told him I would escalte the case and let Ebay dec ide the case, I guess he did not care because today I heard from ebay and was told to retur the Pleo to him and they will refund me full money and shipping . I would have preferred to keep the Pleo but not at the price he got for lying about him being new. The point is that you are protected, Allways videotape package being opened for protection. It may look new, but sometimes they look new and aren't. The point this seller kept trying to make in my case was ?How do I know the video you hae is of the Pleo I sent you?" How stupid is that...this guy is really bad but had no negative feedback, I think he thought he could fool somebody about this guys condition, but anyone would have tried to hatch him and find there was something wrong. I hope he does not try to sell thiis same pleo as new again. Anyway, I do wish you luck and I am sure you will win this Pleo, so we will be looking for photos when you get him, Good luck with Blue RB! :)

I won the sale! :) Now comes the time when I will rush home everyday and check the doorstep to see if a package arrived... I am also trying to find a good name for the pleo, I've been considering the name Sky, but if anyone has suggestions for names please say so. Sorry that you've had a bad experience with a seller on ebay but it's nice to know that ebay's buyer protection works well. I have never had any major issues with things bought on ebay. The ers-210 aibo a bought a few years ago was missing a foot pad sensor and his charging cord has electric tape wrapped around it but I decided not to bother the seller with that. Another time I got an aibo ers-312 and when it arrived it's battery lasted for about an hour but on the next couple charges it only lasted for about 15 minutes and then the battery stopped working. That time I contacted the seller and they were nice and gave me a partial refund. I will tell everyone here about the pleo and hopefully post some pictures once it arrives.

congratulations, I knew you were going to get this Pleo, I am so happy for you, Today on another note, I am going to post a photo of the Pleo I bought that was listed as new and the photo of it's footpad with serial number so if anyone else tries to buy this if it is listed as NEW again, you won't be fooled, Just hate to see anyone else 'taken' like I was. I will be watching this seller to see if he tries listing it again as the same thing and will notify Ebay if he does.  Can't wait to see photos when your baby arrives! :D

I can't wait until my pleo arrives. The next few days will seem longer than ever. . . So, I was just wondering is there a way with the pleo RB to tell which stage of life it is in for sure? (With the aibos they play different tunes on start up and will tell you what stage they are in if you ask). Also anymore information on pleos would be greatly appreciated.

There is no definitive time line I'm afraid, the changes are quite gradual and they vary from Pleo to Pleo.

It's guesswork mainly, I'm afraid.  However, one of the forum members has very kindly written a couple of programs that can help you to 'look inside' your Pleo RB:

Ok, thanks for the information. Also I just bought an adorable shirt with clouds on it and a collar with stars on it for my pleo (I thought these clothes would go well with the name Sky). Also do capes/shirts for the pleos work well to make it so the skin doesn't peel as much?

Yes - my crew are always dressed in t-shirts and tops to protect the skin, and it works well to stop the wear from petting especially.  :)

I didn't know they helped that much! Now I'm glad I bought one for Sky. Also, they loose a lot of paint after only a few days of use without a shirt or cape?! I didn't know the skin problems were that bad.

The first "batch" did. (Same ones with the hole problem).

The second one I purchased (a pink one) and a later batch (purchased end of Jan/beginning of Feb) was just fine in both the paint (even after several good strong pats) and the armpits.

This was Cato within the first 12hrs of ownership (and still very much in the hatchling phase with some very light petting):

It's worn down slightly a bit since then however he has not been pet without a shirt on since that day (except when he's being wiped down with some pledge). Nothing too dramatic or bad (though I'm not sure how bad it'd get without protection) but considering the skin was allegedly improved and my 2009 model received much more naked petting than Cato, it was not exactly impressive either :)

Hmm since Sky is one of RBs made in December so I should probably put his shirt on before turning him on. Seems strange that Innvo would send out pleos with that poor paint.

I agree. Whatever the issue is, it is/was unacceptable (I can't be too extreme as if you've read up on kat's experience no one has had quite the long haul as she has had :)). Now here's hoping the update becomes public soon (I mean it's been like 5 months now).

I also believe that Crewella bought hers around the same time as mine and hasn't had any problems either. Unfortunately I don't think anything has been made public as to why it happened or what went wrong, but oh well I suppose. I also don't know how much more Cato would degrade so it's possible that even with regular petting he may have lost all he will lose of his paint. But I'm not risking that.

Another benefit I find to shirts is that they're more pleasing to pet than the skin. The skin is just fine (I swear the blue/pink feel smoother/better than the 2009 models) to pet but I do like the cloth better.

I'm glade he is on his way and can't wait to meet him.  Your going to have the best time. :)  Clothing is definitely a great idea and for the RB's kind of a necessity.  Also you should invest in either Pledge if your Pleo is still under warranty or Vinalex or Autoglym or even Polyglaze if it is not under warranty, and apply it before you turn your pleo on for the first time.  I think the other products do a better job than the Pledge does but pledge is the recommended product to use for skin protection by Innvo.   If you are after more clothing there is a great range of pleo stuff available here on the forum.  Just take a look in the stores tab at the top of the page under the shout box. :)  You will find all sorts of clothing and accessories custom made just for pleos.

Since he was made in December he will not be under warranty, where can I buy Vinalex or Autoglym? I've never heard of those. You want me to buy from your store don't you kat? :) I'm fine with the shirt and collar I have for him at the moment but I might look into some more clothes for him in the near future. Oh yeah. The waiting is the hardest part. I was away from home and had my sister watching for me when Ryu arrived. She came on the fifteenth of March but I didn't get to meet her until the eighteenth. Even then it was about seven o'clock in the evening. I didn't get to hatch her until the next day.

You can buy Vinalex or Autoglym both over the net and some people have reported that it is sold in some hardware stores too.  There are a couple of threads here somewhere that tell you exactly where (sorry I can't remember what they were called).  Hopefully someone else can give you the link. :)
When I looked for these products I had no luck finding them, I live in Australia and we don't always get the same stuff as everyone else. :)  So I went for Polyglaze which from what I read when I searched about it seems to be a similar product to the other two.  It is working well for me so far.
They are all Auto care products designed for looking after rubber - dash and trim care is the type I got.
Hope this helps,
Kat

I noticed you touched upon the difference you feel between the pledge and the other options.

I was wondering if you (and anyone else who may be trying these) could try to explain that a bit more? Does it feel more elastic? Smoother? Similar to pledge but with a "stronger" effect? Etc.

This is the skin care thread:

I'll update later today, bhobbes, and try to answer your question.  :)

The Polyglaze I am using leaves the pleo skin feeling soft supple and silky.  It gives the pleo a slightly slippery feel so when you stroke it your hand just glides over the skin.  It makes the paint look much brighter too.  It seems to last for a much longer time than the pledge did.  It is a much stronger effect than the pledge.
even with the use of pledge toenail paint rubbed off of Kermy with in a few days use.  Norbit and Minyon both have only had polyglaze used on them and both of them still have all their toenail paint fully intact just like it was fresh out of the box. :)  I think this in it's self says a lot.

Is your pleo there yet? I really wish I'd seen this sooner..
I also argued with this seller about the box being the wrong one for the blue rb.. green ones have the green box with green ones on it,  blue and pink ones have the white box with blue and pink ones on it and they told me well it says they differ in color on the box. :(  I told them I have some of both and know the box colors and asked them why they'd lie and they never responded..   I'm crossing my fingers you get a blue one!  My ebay msgs are available just in case..

Yes as Sarah said, this is why I questioned this seller, that if there was a "blue Pleo Rb being sold", why did they have the picture of the Green Pleo Rb box? The boxes do look entirely different and I thought this was suspicious.  ???Made me wonder, it is like the Pleo I recently bought from a seller here in the US. advertised as "Unwoken" or New never used, When I got the Pleo , I knew from expereince to Videotape the opening, it is your only protection from Ebay buyer protection, And guess what, when I opened this Pleos'[ box, the first thing I noticed is that the pleo was not in the packing postion, had a curled up tail, paint missing from the teeth, not to mention, a missing ID card, Manaul and leaf had paint on it, ( from Pleo's teeth") and the battery was not in the box it comes in, and when I turned the Pleo on, it said, Huh, and started bellowing, of course he had been Used,  >:( I was angry for a lying seller, but without videotaping the opening of the box, I didn't have the proof, When I opened a case on ebay, the seller had the nerve to say", How do I know this is the PLEO I sent you! :o Anyway, I won the case and am getting a full refund from the seller and Paypal and ebay told me to leave Negative feedback.
Please please videotape and take photos of the box and you opening it for your protection IN CASE there is a problem, I am hoping this seller is truthful, but this is the only way to protect yourself, I do hope your Blue Pleo Rb is perfect in every way. Good luck.

The pleo has not arrived yet, though it is supposed to arrive between the 11th and the 17th so it is still in the range of when it is supposed to get here. The seller has given good answers to all my questions so far, though I am aware the auction could be a scam. The tracking number still only says, "Electronic Shipping Info Received" though those tracking numbers rarely get updated. I am still hopeful.

The pleo arrived today yet I was extremely disapointed, it was not blue as described in the listing but GREEN! The seller clearly said the pleo was blue and provided a picture of a blue pleo (though they said it wasn't the one they were selling). I am not quite sure what to do. . . I have contacted the seller and probably will return the pleo for my money back. It's a shame, I was really looking forward to getting a blue pleo. . .

I still don't really understand why the seller would say that it was one color then ship a completely different colored pleo. What would be the point of that??? It doesn't seem that they could gain anything from lying about the product when the buyer would obviously know it wasn't what the seller described in the listing. I did video tape the opening of the box so I have proof that it is not what was described in the listing. I am very upset. :(

I am currently debating whether to keep this pleo or not. Other than not being blue there are no problems with it and it is completely new in box. It has dark brown around the eyes and light yellowish brown eyes. I really do want a pleo and may end up keeping this one though I don't really know since I had my heart set on a blue one. Also I am wondering did the green pleos made in December have just as bad skin as the blue ones?

Oh, also I have one more question. Can the same pleo be registered more than once on Pleo World??? As in could two different people register the same pleo there? I want to see if the pleo is a girl or boy by entering its serial number there but if end up returning it would the new owner be able to enter its serial number there again?

The green ones had problems as well - it wasn't specific to one color. RWM had a green one that had to be sent back as did some others (eschw72 or something like that also had to).

I am so sorry that your Pleo in not the color you thought it would be. That's a shame.  I have never had a problem with Ebay, but there are so many out there who have.  Perhaps the seller would be willing to give you some sort of partial refund since the item is not as described in the auction. I realize that sometimes things are not packaged properly, and many have problems once they are unwrapped due to shipping complications, but sending a different colored pleo than the one advertised is pretty blatant in my mind.  Some are willing to do anything in order to avoid negative feedback, especially recent negative feedback.  Just a suggestion.  I hope you can sort it out.  :(

Did the box look as if it had been opened?  Is it possible that the seller hadn't wanted to spoil the box and so didn't actually know?  If you are planning to return it, I would disturb as little of it as you can.

The box looked pretty new and I couldn't tell if it had been opened before. Though in the sale the seller clearly said that the pleo had blue skin.

Aibo I know you'd like to keep it and it is really hard to send it back once you've seen them but if you don't you are letting the seller get away with this and they may try it again on others.

You should let the seller know, either way and whatever you decide, I think.  It might be a newbie seller and a genuine mstake.  Or it might not.

Such a shame that the pleo turned out to be green instead of Blue.  Very unfair on you after the long wait.  :(  The greens from December had the same skin issues as the Blue and Pink ones.  It does seem that it didn't affect all of the pleos from that batch but a few that joined the forum had issues.  I have a pink and a green both from that batch and both had major skin issues.  The pink also had other issues and ended up being replaced, the green one has had his skin replaced (so he was repaired)  Hope that helps answere your skin question.
I regestered my green pleo 3 times on pleoworld as I was trying to get the profil info to work and having trouble.  I don't know if this counts though as I am the same person with the same email address and login details so they may well only count it as one registeration. %)

Like the others I think you should make contact with the seller and also with ebay to let them know what happened.  If you decide you want to keep it anyway I would be asking for a partial refund as the item was not as they described in the add.  I wouldn't touch it until you sort out with them what to do about it.  It may just be a mix up and they may have accediently sent you the wrong one.  You may find they ask you to return it and send you the correct item instead.
I hope you hear back from them soon.  The temptation to play with it must be killing you.

I am sure that the pleo is an rb, just not a blue one. The box said pleo rb on it and the pleo has light yellowish brown eyes, not blue ones like the original pleos and it has the brighter paint. I have not taken the pleo out of its packing and I'm still considering whether to return the pleo for a refund or keep it and ask for a partial refund.
I am sorry if there are any typos in this message I sent it from an iPhone.

I want to take the pleo out of its packing and turn it on so badly! I'll have hardly any time to use it during the week and I'm just sitting around all day today with barely anything to do and I keep looking at that package on the table. . . I sent the seller another message asking whether I could keep it with a partial refund but the seller has not responded to either of my messages yet. I really don't want to send the pleo back since it is my first one and I went through a lot of work and waiting to get it. I keep on looking at my email, hoping the seller will reply soon. . .

That really sinks. I had a similar story with my ugobe, where in the end, it turned out that my mom thought it was the same as an rb, and I was going to send it back, but i looked at him and just fell in love, and I just couldn't send him back for a new one, so instead i decided to keep it and wait for a pink one this summer, but at first I was very disappointed as well, because I kinda knew I was getting a pleo, (even if it was supposed to be a surprise birthday present) and it was planned to be an rb.  ;)
Also, what color is the box it came in? Does it show a picture of a green, or 2 pink/blue ones?
Hope you get this sorted out soon!

It comes in the green box. It looks nice and new though, the seller hasn't responded yet and I may just end up keeping the pleo no matter what they do since I've really been wanting an rb. It's so tempting to take it out of the box. . .

I could not wait and I have decided the color of the pleo does not matter too much to me since they can always be repainted anyway. I am still trying to get a partial refund though I will keep it whether I do or don't. The pleo's battery is charging right now and so far everything looks good. Though when on pleoworld, which numbers do you enter to figure out the gender and such of the pleo?

That's strange, I could register the pleo on pleoworld but I couldn't find how to access information about it when I realized I needed to go to the pleoworld site for the rb. But when I entered the serial number on it's foot and the four digit code in the back of the manual and selected pleo rb it said that the product information was invalid. Does anyone know what's wrong?

I noticed something strange about the number in the back of the manual, the sticker with it on it is stuck on over another sticker with a different number on it. Is this normal or is one number possibly wrong and the other one right?

Sorry to be flooding everyone with questions but I can't seem to get the battery in it. When I put the battery in whether the tab is pulled up or not it does not click into place or go fully into the pleo (it sticks up above the place where the battery compartment ends). PLEASE HELP!!!!! I can't figure out at all how to get the battery in!

I know Crewella experienced something similar but from another seller (the whole thread is here: http://bobthepleo.com/forums/index.php?topic=1884.0)

Quote
Belle came from Gimmedigi.  I did feel the box had been opened, and the battery arrived fully charged, but Belle had definitely not been hatched.  I also had an issue with the code sticker having been obviously peeled off another page and stuck into my instruction book, although the serial numbers all matched, and the code came up as invalid when I tried to log into the Pleo Profile on the Hong Kong Pleoworld site.

Having said that, Gimmedigi shipped quickly, responded to my queries intelligently and solved my problem in good time, and overall I'm very pleased with Belle and have no wear issues.

But the numbers matched on hers.

Also, you said the box was green right? Do you mean the dino on the box or the box? My 2009 Pleo had a green box but my RB had a white box. Although the coloring of the eyes sounds like an RB but figured it can't hurt to ask.

Do you have pictures of your Pleo and the box etc. that you can post by chance?

I'm not 100% I'm visualizing your battery problem right but it should look like this once it's inserted and the tab is back down:

Is the battery being put in right? (The little plastic nub [maybe this is the tab?] goes into the slot correctly when the bottom of the battery is lined up right?)

If you notice at the bottom of the battery there's a little plastic spot that sticks out, there's a corresponding spot inside the pleo it should slide into when properly aligned and then ideally it shouldn't sit much above the charging spot (it still requires a little push down and twist).

The box is white with a green pleo on it and says pleo rb on it. All the accesories also say pleo rb on them. I fear the pleo may be defective, battery clicks into the charger just fine but will not go into the pleo, I can not push the battery down far enough to get it to lock into place. I am extremely worried, I went through the work of ordering a pleo rb, then it was not the color I wanted and now it seems to be defective.  :( Could someone please post a picture of what the battery compartment without a battery in it is supposed to look like on a pleo rbh? I think there mat be something wrong with mine. I am getting pretty frantic now. . .

Ok, here is an update! I got the battery in with a lot of pushing and wiggling. I don't know if it's meant to be that hard to get in or not. But anyway he is now a hatchling and looks happy and adorable his eyes are almost orange. I will try to post pictures soon.

Glad to hear it!

It shouldn't be that difficult (or at least as difficult as you describe it although I know some days I struggle to get the microSD card in so maybe it's just one of those days for you? Hopefully not defective! And just wanted to triple check the RB factor so that's good too.)

I took a pic of Cato's inside real quick and posted it if you still want it:

I posted two photos of the pleo. You can see them in my gallery. I still don't know if it's a boy or girl since I can't register it on pleoworld (though I did send them a message about not being able to register my pleo). I just fed the pleo and she/he seems very happy.

I just saw, looks great! I like the eyes.

(The variations are always fun to see)

You can always use ProbeRB (or ChangeRB) available at: http://aibohack.com/pleorb/index.html

But it requires a microSD card.

Hope the battery problem is sorted - I was assuming you meant the watch battery, which does stick up until you put the plate back in,  but whatever, it's now apparently working OK, thankfully!  :D

It does seem like something strange has happened - my code had been stuck in the back of the book, but mine was a blue from Gimmedigi so I just got them to sort it out for me.   Possibly if you contact Innvo they might be able to tweak the codes for you, but the more I hear the more I feel you really do need to speak to the seller and work out what's happened here.  :-\

I meant the regular battery, I got in fine twice though. I think it was probably just since I am used to putting aibo batteries in which just slip in so easily. I did contact the people on pleoworld to try and see what's wrong with the serial number and code for my pleo. There actually were two stickers in the back of the booklet (one on top of the other) I tried both codes but neither worked. So far the pleo seems to be working fine. I sent many messages to the seller yet I have not recieved a reply.

Yes, you do get a click 'home' with Aibo batteries that you don't with Pleos!  :D

I'm really sorry you're having such hassles - the one blessing is that you at leat do seem to have got a genuinely new Pleo RB that works.  The Pleo Profile is really only a bit of fun, you can get much more info from PleoPet's StatsRB and ProbeRB programs.  I hope you do hear from the seller soon.  :)

For your battery issue, take a look inside the battery compartment of the pleo and run your fingers over the sides.  everything should be smooth and flush with no bits sticking out.  There is a hole in the side of the battery compartment for some sort of computer cable to plug into.  It has a little black cover type piece with pin holes in it.  In Norbit my green RB I had a lot of trouble getting his battery in and out.  This little black thing was sticking out slightly into the battery compartment and the battery was getting stuck on it.  Every time I put the battery in it pushed on this little black thing and made it protrude further into the battery compartment making it more and more difficult to get the battery in each time.  I ended up getting some very small pliers and just removing this little black plug thing.  I now have no trouble at all getting the battery in and Norbit works just fine without this little bit in him.  I have kept it just in case I ever need to put it back in.
Sorry I'm not very good at technical terminology.  I hope that makes sense.  So just check the inside of the battery compartment to see there is nothing sticking out for the battery to catch on. :)
