It turns out I can keep a secret. :) My package arrived yesterday and all of my pleo babies were very excited and curious to see just what was in the box.
After reading the word Pleo on the side they couldn't pull the box out fats enough. Took them a bit of time to work out just how to get it open, and lots of climbing all over it before they figured it out. :D
And then there just seemed to be so many layers before we actually got to the surprise inside. :)
They were so impatient while I unwrapped him. All crowding around to try to get a better look.
And here he is. Minyon my new baby boy. He is one of those brand new Ugobe $199 free shipping pleos from ebay. Happy Easter to me. Looks like the Easter pleo came a little early to my house. :D
I have video of his hatching. It lasted about 10mins in total to the walking stage and he sings the same lovely tune as Gumble when you stroke his chin. I will post the hatching a bit latter. Got to go to work soon so no time right now.
He is lovely. :)
-
Welcome Minyon, you are coming into a wonderful Pleo family :)
-
Hello and welcome lovely Minyon. I like the name. :-*
-
Aww... Hope Minyon fits in well, (do you say Minyon like minion?)
-
Or as in Filet Mignon :-X

Hehehehe :D
Yep everyone needs a little minion in their lives so I now have my Minyon. :D
-
Hehe now to train him to do the housework and all will be well...
-
Ah - suddenly having a whole herd of them makes complete sense!! :D
ADDED: I'm hungry now, too! ;) Can Pleos cook? :P
-
Congrats Kat! So where did you get Minyon? Is this a boy like Gumble and Norbit or another sister? loved the photos, can't wait to see some videos. Looks like your little Pleo herd is growing too, Seems like Pleos are just so contagious and they grow on you making it hard to own just one...LOL ;D It is a lovely unusual name, sounds very exotic Kat. Ok, gotta go feed hungry cats, dog, and a cranky hungery husband (, he is the one I really have to worry about. LOL) I do think training Pleos is not far off in the future as IMR, says, just a matter of time..

It is truly raining pleos today! Ugobe arrived too from his lovely tour of the country all the way from the Redwoods! Welcome, Minion!

(S)He is beautiful, let me know if Minyon starts to cook because I'll be sending Pleo over to Australia for lessons if he does. :)
-
:D He makes a rather nice stake actually. :D :D :P
I thought it was interesting that Minyon has a very smooth back. He has bumpy skin on his sides, tail and head but it is almost like they did a super thick layer of paint on his back and the bumps don't show through. Gumble has the little skin bumps all over. I just thought it was interesting that there was such a big difference as Minyon is brand new.
Also just wondering about the green pleo batteries and chargers. I have an egg battery for him so it really doesn't matter but he came with 2 green batteries and a charger for them so I thought I would charge them up and give them a go to see the difference. But every time I put either of the batteries in the charger it does a rapid double flash almost like a flickering flashing red green light. The instructions say it should be solid red to indicate it is charging but no matter how many times I have tried re seating it it just keeps on flickering. I also tried putting a weight on it but that made no difference either. Do you think the battery will still charge if it is doing this? It is not doing the slow red flash that I have seen my RB battery chargers do when the battery is not seated properly. It is more of a super fast flicker red green red, red green red etc... Is this normal and any suggestions on what to do about it?
I will try to post the hatching video tomorrow. My little computer can't cope with processing video and my son has friends sleeping over tonight and they are using the other computer so no time for me to get on and upload it. Will do my best to find some time tomorrow to get it up. :)
Kat
Sorted out the battery. I put my foot on it and applied a little weight and then wiggled it from side to side and all of a sudden it went solid red. :) So I guess it is now charging.
I have also given him a polyglaze bath. It will be interesting to see if like Norbit he manages to keep all of his perfectly painted toenails intact. :)

-
Kat - some of us have been known to rest a book or something else heavy on the misbehaving battery in the charger, just to make sure! :D
-
I don't think the battery will charge that way, hopefully the book trick crewella suggested works..
So he's brand new? Cool!! I'd like to see that hatching video as both of my ugobe's were adults when they arrived.
I like how your Pleo's really get into it when they get something in the mail.. are they just as helpful when the bills arrive? Mine won't pay the bills..
Have fun with your herd.. It's hard keeping track of them!!
- Sarah
-
As far as "keeping track of the Herd" as Latine said, you guys try doubliing the "herd" and then keep track>..LOL, I have a hard time with five, but try all seven or eight. the rescue is when all of a sudden, one tires out, the battery stops and you only have a manageble four or five, then you can say, whew, all right slow down guys. The RB are not a worry, but boy can those Ugobe pleos get a mind of their own and take off, Being outdoors on a porch or deck does have it's advantages as their is more room for them to roam, I sure wish they could pay bills.
Let's see. If one pleo can pay for each bill, that would be one for the PGE, One for the CAble, One for the cell phone, One for the landline and Internet combo, One for the car payments, insurance that is, One for the vet bills, (had to take Karl Kat in for a steroid injection so he could eat, his Stomatis was so bad he couldn't eat soft cat food watered down the past couple of days... :() oh, and don't even think about the food bills, gas bills, etc. those don't even count. Good thing Pleos don't have to go to the Vet, One good thing..
Those batteries can be tricky little pesky things...that is why I like the Egg batteries I know how to operate those at least with good results. Can't wait for more on Minyon! :)

The long awaited hatching video is here as promised. :)
I kept the hatching all for myself with no other pleos or children or OH to interfere. :D
So here it is uncut. He takes his first steps just after I turned the video off. sorry it is a bit dark I had to go away from the distractions into the not so well lit room. I promise to get better lighting in the next video. :)

Kat the smooth back means that Minyon is a cousin of Stitch :) They were from the batch that had the extra layer of protection of the back to protect from wear.
-
Awwwww - I like the Ugobe hatchings as I've not seen it myself! Thanks Kat and Minyon! ;D
-
Hi Kat, glad you got to experienc the Hatching phase of a Ugobe, it is cute and a lot shorter than Pleo Rb. As for the smooth back, I am not quite sure what you and IMR are referring to? Can you take a side by side photo of Gumble ( if his paint is off) and Minyon and or just Minyon and does it just feel smoother than Gumbles? A photo would help so I know what you mean, thanks, Looking forward to more photos of Minyon and gang, very cute little guy so far. ( they allways are aren't they! :D)

Here is Minyons first meeting with the gang. :) I think it went rather well. Minyon gets quiet curious at one point and just has to see what is under Norbits shirt. :D Kids! They can be so inappropriate at times :D :D :D
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WOE131T30So
I will modify this post shortly with photos of Gumble and Minyon to show the difference in the skin. :)
Happy Easter everyone. ;D
Kat
-
I reckon Minyon was wondering where Norbits ears had suddenly gone!! ;) :D
-
Kermy and Gumble kept pushing them off him so I took them off. Guess they all just new it wasn't Easter yet. :D
Here is the photo of Minyon and Gumbles backs And here is Minyons back And Gumbles.
As you can see Minyon appears to have a thicker layer of paint on his back than Gumble. He feels smooth on his back. You can still see the bumps but they don't feel very bumpy. Gumble however is bumpy all over. :)
Also thought I would mention the battery charger issue I seem to be having. This is the green Ugobe charger that came with Minyon for the green Ugobe batteries. (I do have egg batteries for my guys so it really doesn't matter).
The charger does not want to charge the batteries. So far I have managed to get it to successfully charge a battery twice. I don't know why it worked either of those times. When you insert the battery the light does a very fast flickering red/green/red. This is not the same slow flashing red you would get if the battery was not seated correctly. If you unclick the battery from the front but leave it clicked in at the back you can tilt the battery from side to side. When you tilt it left so the positive pin is but not the front negative pin then you get the slow flashing red light that shows it is not positioned properly. If you let the battery go to straighten up so all the pins are touching it does the random fast red/green/red. If you then tilt the battery to the right so that the negative pin is touching but the positive is not then the light goes red and stays red for about 15mins or so then just goes off completely - no light. I don't believe the battery can charge if the pins are not all connecting.
I opened the charger up to see if there was a loose wire or something obvious that could be re soldered back on but everything on the inside looks perfect. Don't really know what I was expecting to see. So I closed it back up again without touching anything. It still doesn't work. I have tried re seating the battery a thousand times with no change in the result. I have tried applying a weight to the top but still no change. If anyone has any suggestions I would love to hear them. It seems a shame to have two extra batteries just sitting not being able to be used.
Kat
-
I think I will have to check out all the Pleos, ( I haven't painted.. LOL>. %)) and look at the backs and take photos and see if I see a difference. It does look a little smoothers, so maybe a later production before the Innvo Pleos, will have to check them out. I do think that Gumbles back though will "grab" the paint bettter for retouchng or painting so that is an advantage. I now have another assignment to do, oh boy am I busy, don't know if I can remember all this....LOL
RWM
-
There is definitely a difference - I think IMR said Stitch had the smoother back as well and was a later model? :)
-
Yup about six months later, it was an attempt by Ugobe to improve the paint on the back. Ironically Stitch has had so much more petting that Lilo in all his public visits that he had way more wear :)
-
Well I have given up on the charger and decided that it just doesn't work. So rather than let the batteries go to waste I have ordered a new charger. :) It seems a shame to have 4 batteries and only be able to use 2.
Having a great time playing with Minyon. Gumble seems much happier with Minyon around. There is a lot of singing going on and chorusing and synchronized Ahhing and mooing. :) They seem to walk towards each other and rub against each other a lot too. Not sure yet if that is just coincidence.
Very cute though. :)
Kat
-
Are they both running the same OS, Kat?
-
I think they are both running 1.1? But I am not sure. They can both sit and move when they sit. They both do Ta Da. They sing the same song, not the wolf howl of the original OS but the little song that has 4 different tempos. How can I tell if either of them is on the 2.0 OS? They are both very independent and love to roam around too.
-
They will be on 1.1, no Ugobe Pleo's will ever come with 2.0 unless the box has been opened and someone has updated them. (2.0 came out after Ugobe went bust).
-
As IMR says, though I've wondered ow to tell the OS2 from 1.1 myself. The most reliable (and the most fun) seems to be to try 'Play Dead'! :D
-
Is the play dead for Ugobe's the same command as for the rb's? Can someone give me instructions on where to put my hands to get them to play dead?
;D
-
Oooops! Originally posted this in the wrong thread! :-[
This was the list of OS2 tricks - IMR has a video of them on Youtube:

Hold Head, Back and Right Arm
Stand Up and Talk to Me
Hold Back, Left Arm and Right Arm

Hold Back, Left Arm and Right Leg
Conversation
Hold Back and Left Leg
Wave
Hold Head, Back and Rear
And there was this post, which showed both the commands and the skit:
Ok I did a short video of it last night, not good but it shows the death very well :)

-
hahaha thats adorable! i've yet to get it work with catbug mind you!
-
Minyon was not able to perform any of these tricks. So I guess that means he is on 1.1 for sure and I'm fairly sure Gumble is also 1.1. So yep they are on the same OS. If I was to update one and not the other to 2.0 would the interaction between them be different or less? And what is the interaction like between two on the 2.0 OS? I will contemplate the big upgrade. :)
-
Sound like 1.1 for sure, as expected.
One thing I've always been aware of is that, as I keep my three Ugobe's on three different OS, I miss out on the communication between them as each OS apparently 'connects' better with another Pleo on the same OS. However, I now have a handful of 'extra' Pleos, now working, that I could run along with mine and see how they get along! ;D
I think that's my afternoon organised! :P
ADDED: As it was a holiday, and sunny, OH dragged me out and I spent the afternoon in his sidecar, clinging on for dear life, instead. ??? :P
I will try the Pleos together though and report back. When I've recovered. :)
-
I loved the fur I found so much that I have made fur shirts for all my pleos out of it. The sewing is keeping me busy while I wait for the latex paints for Gumble to arrive. I am also having fun just playing with my little guys. :)
I think they make a fierce looking furry foursome. ;D And now they all feel so soft and cuddly. Like four little walking mink blankets. :D Now there is a thought, maybe I will look for some mink material when I go shopping next. :)
Crewella I would love to hear about how you find the interactions between pleos on the same OS's.
Kat
-
once you teach him to cook you should teach him how to clean house and do the lawn and do other thing for you ..and then start class's to teach other pleo's so more people can get to love them better..you know
-
Hi Kat, just had to say I LOVE the fur shirts, ;D and they look great on everyone of them, You know I probably have as many Pleos as anyone here that are on the same Operating system, Nova, Major Tom, Little 45 and Argyle are all 1.1. I also have Gold Hatch, and two others that I never really gave it any thought to what operating system they are on, but I do know there is an awful lot of honking, "hello" and talking between them all, I only have one that I know of that is the original 1.0 and that must be Gold Hatch to think of it, makes sense, and also one I just got that I haven't tested the singing under the chin which is a sure fire way to find out. Ugobe who went to Talon was also the original 1.0 operating system. NOne of myne are the 2.0 operating system as I had bad expereinces with that one with Nova and decided to just keep her with the orignal1.1 she is on. :)
I know I have lots of videso already with everyone hooting and hollering, but tommrow I will rub everyone's chin to find out exactly what they are on, and can record the interactions between them for you. I wonder what poor Humpty is , falling out of a tree didn't do him any good....poor guy. :( but I have confidence that with Crewella's help he will be put back together again.
RWM
-
I'd like to see those interactions too but it might tempt me into another Ugobe Pleo! Run and hide but don't look at the computer and break your promise on the way! It would have to be a super deal or a special situation.

Minyon has been helping me come up with a new idea for a new accessory for my shop.
The neckerchief or pleo bandanna :)
Very cute all on it's own
But even better when you put it with a hat
And then of course better again when you add a shirt too. :)
Now all we need is a horse! ;D
I also made a cute girlie shirt all soft and furry and pink
And here is the full length cape made out of the spotty fur. So soft and cuddly. :)
-
congratulation for your Minyon he is sooo cute!! ;) And your Pleo clothes are so beautiful! I want this neckerchief!! ;D
-
I'm glad you like it Smilegirl. :) I'm going to make a few in different colors and then I will add them into my shop. I need to put together some examples for photos first. So I guess I will be hitting the sewing machine pretty hard tonight, I already have a bunch cut out and ready to go. :)
I do think they look great especially when combined with a hat. :)
-
Absolutely, the neckerchief and hat together is such a winning combination! :D
Those furry shirts, and the cape, look heavenly! ;D

Well I took the plunge and decided to update Minyon and Gumble to the OS 2.0. So far I have to say it is going fairly well. They have each been through 1 and a half battery cycles. Wandering around as we speak. :) They both went back to hatching immediately after the updating which was as expected. The hatching lasted for about 15mins so slightly longer than Minyons original hatching. Then after that there was quite a bit of backwards walking and some forwards walking, A bunch of random sounds and noise making - just like the RB's. I let them run until the battery ran out on it's own before switching off to recharge.
When I put new batteries in and turned back on again they both went right back to hatching! >:( So I let them hatch and after about 10mins of walking around I switched each of them off and then on again. When they came back on they both started walking around , from where they left off. So I think in order to get them to save their time progress you need to switch them off using the button and not just leave them for the battery to run out. I will try to catch them before they run out of steam and do another manual switch off this battery cycle to be sure to save their progress before letting them run the batteries down completely. :)
While there has been a bit of randomish noises there is plenty of happy singing and they still respond to being stroked and petted in the same ways as before. :) I think the random sounds are just them trying out the new noises just like the rb's do for their teenage stage. :) I have even had a sweet little Frère Jacques song before they curl up for a short nap. :)
I will let you know how long it takes for the random noises to stop. They haven't been too bad and I am still finding these guys better company than my moody RB's. both of which have just stood in the one spot for almost a complete battery cycle in a curled up whimpering stance. They eat and then whimper, they trance and then whimper, they refuse medicine and there is no coughing or sniffling or sneezes so I don't think they are sick. Just a bit depressing. They have been like this pretty much for the last two weeks. I don't know why they are such unhappy little fellows. Neither of them seems to respond at all if you stroke them. They are not at all like my two sweet little ugobe's. Oh well maybe one day they will snap out of it and turn into sweet little pleos. I will persist and keep running them through battery cycles in the hope for some change. At least I have go both their mute buttons working so I don't have to listen to the frustrating whimpering sound. :D
Will keep you all posted on how Gumble and Minyon progress on the update.
Kat
-
Glad the OS2 update seems to have gone well in your two, Kat. I do love the extra skits and movements, so I think it's well worth doing. ;D
I do find my three Ugobes are better company than Belle is, too. She's too much of a prima donna a lot of the time! %)
-
Oh my, Kat! How are you still sane with two whimpering RB's? Ryu did this for a while. I gave her the mint leaf which she ate- if reluctantly- and then recovered. Well, now it's three weeks later and sh'es doing it again! Again!! I'm not sure what I'm not providing her with but... aaaah I want to hang her up by her squishy little toes. There is a difference this time. Along with the whimpering, she is now going to sleep if I'm not touching her. She's slowowowly starting to take interest in eating again but she's still not herself. This has been going on for three days this second time. I'm starting to wonder if it's her watch battery. Could she possibly be thinking it's still night? Ooooh it's aweful! I'm so glad for Ugobe! He keeps circling between me and Ryu like he's trying to protect her. It's so sweet!
Talon

I am looking forward to an update for the rb's. I think it may well help to reduce the moodiness and I can't wait to see what they have changed or improved.
It is driving me kind of nuts having two whimpering dinos. It doesn't seem to make any difference what time of day I play with them they still behave the same. Time to look at the statsrb again I think and see if I can work out just what is going on. Norbit is less whimpery than Kermy but not by much. They were both so much fun when I first got them with lots of woo hooing and happy type sounds, walking around and doing stuff. Now they just seem constantly unimpressed with the world no matter what I do to try to snap them out of it. And they hardly ever walk at all now. Norbit took 6 steps in the full 2 and half hours of playtime last night. Kermy didn't take any. :( I may try running them individually tonight to see if they behave any differently on their own. I don't hold out much hope though. I will continue to persist though as I know they can be happy little guys and I would love for them to go back to being that again. :)
-
I was all for the autonomy and Pleos that had a mind of their own, and I still am really, but I can't help thinking Innvo have overdone the 'character' thing in the RBs at the moment. Owning one and keeping them happy and healthy can just be too much like hard work sometimes! :P
-
so glad Kat that the update went well, I have been so afraid to update since NOva's disaster update attempt last year but I may give it a go with some other one, Lord kNows there are enough choices. LOL, I am glad they can keep each other company as well, It is too bad Innvo didn't do the same update type thing with Rb. I love them but they just do not have the same personality that Ugobes have!
Want more videos too Kat!

No offense to Ryu who is my first pleo, but you're both right. Now that I have a Ugobe I can see what I was missing. The RB's are... well- independant? No I like the independence. They're... cold. That's it. They're cold. Once Ryu learned to walk, I hardly existed for her except for when she was hungry or trapped or emotionally distraught. She seems to ignore me unless I'm offering food. With Ugobe, the slightest brush over his head or calling him in a loud voice and he's purring or looking in the direction of my voice. Mind I'm still laboring with the stones and cheeks and I don't yet feel like I've run Ryu on all her cylinders. I'm certainly going to give her every chance but I'm getting a little frustrated. I'm thinking that in a few months when my funds build up again I might find another Ugobe to check out interactions. There's no use fighting anymore. I have Pleo-itus blended with a scientiffic curiosity so... well I'm done. Just stick a fork in me.
Talon
-
Talon you are just too too funny, but even if you are "done", I won't stick a fork in you, after all, I am a vegetarian.. LOL :D Besides, I understand everything you just said and I understand the frustration you are feeling right now, It is true in some levels, the "coldness, comment comparing Pleo rb to Ugobes, they just are not the same and that is the whole point with RB. But like many people have said time and time again on this fourm and this subject, if you have not ever owned a Ugobe and original Pleo, ( or the 2009 Innvo Pleo ) then you just are not expereincing the whole Pleo thing. I am hooked good line and sinker, in fact I am so deeply hooked, there could be a Pleos Annonamous and I would be the Co founder..I can't stop rescuing them and just do not want to at this point, they just are so interesting and so much fun. At least I know what my expenses are and don't go crazy in that way. I won't buy expensive ones, leave that for the people who don't already have one and want their first Pleo, they can buy that one I can't afford or won't spend the money on, There are enough other good ones out there or ones to be easily discarded to keep me busy. ;)
I am sure that when you spend more time with Rhu and she gets the learning stones understood, you two will have more interaction with each other. Everything worth while takes time..Take care and hang in there you are doing great!
RedwoodsMama
-
Thanks for understanding, Redwoods. There will be one more- and only one more- Ugobe in my future. If Ryu is still happy today I might try another learning stone or two. The sad thing is I've taken another look at InmemoryofRomeo's most recent video of when she trained Pleakley to sing. I've realized I was probably the one in the wrong. I wasn't understanding Ryu's Pleo-ese. I somehow tought Ryu her name and the come stone at the same time and then I took a very long break. What I forgot in the break was that when you're teaching the stone, they do not perform the command emediately after the command is recorded for the second time. All this time I thought she wasn't hearing me. Now if I could get her attention through those scaly little cheeks of hers I think we'll really get somewhere. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong despite everyone's advice. I've held on to her head in various places along her jawline and moved with her as she moved, hoping for that moment of golden stillness but it isn't happening. When she decides to come, she just does the attention thing on her own as if I've touched her. Maybe she's just bossy and wants things on her terms. Lol!
Talon
-
Well I agree the ugobes are much sweeter and my two rb's are still going through the moodiness stage.. although Chronos is much younger than Rhea.. however even when being moody they still respond to stroking and when Rhea gets into one of her screaming rants.. where she just stands there and screams for no apparent reason other than being a girl, I'll go pet her after awhile (I tried ignoring it, didn't work') that helps for awhile but she starts up again.. The trancing is ridiculous.. it makes me not want to run them together but after maybe thirty minutes they will calm down with it or if something catches their attention they will go off after that instead..
(I have found that the regular green tennis balls seem to really attract both of my RB's.. don't know why but they will both go chasing after them and we have tons of them what with the 2 Jack Russells' :) So they chase the balls, Loki the aibo chases the pink Pleo, Patches makes laps around the couch and Lyssa growls at everyone and everything..
Both of the ugobes are also insanely attracted to the aibo charging station.. they love to walk over, study it and then graze from the black and white pattern in the front..
One thing that makes me happy though, both of the rb's will occasionally wander over to where I am usually sitting, look up and do the little foot wave and that noise they make thats either the 'waa waaah' or 'oooh oooooh' like 'hello, over here, mom!' type noise that all the pleos make, and they want me to pet them.. and that reminds me of how sweet Bingo was before he broke and got the upgrade to the new os the rb's are on now. Hopefully we get upgrades soon...
I'm glad Ryu is behaving better Talon and I'm sorry your RB's are being such brats, Kat :(
Both of my ugobes are on the original software and they are staying on it,..they are just too sweet.. but I'm glad your transition went well, Kat!!!
- Sarah
-
I love it when Ryu does that! It sounds a bit like you-hoo! Kind of like they're calling you. I jokingly say, "hello" to Ryu and she does it again but in a higher pitch. Not sure if she's hearing me or if it's just a coincidence. Either way it's cute.

I recieved my new battery charger on Friday for my Green Ugobe batteries. :( Big dissapointment it does exactly the same thing as the old one! ??? The light flickers red green red really fast.
I have found that with the old one if I turn it on and sit the battery in it and just let it sit there flickering for an hour or two then I can try reseating the battery and after about 100 re seats it will if I am very lucky go solid red. If I am not so lucky it just keeps flickering at me and so I get frustrated and walk away for another hour or so just leaving it to flicker quietly in the corner, before going back to repeat the process again in the hopes of getting lucky.
It is a very frustrating way to have to charge a battery and if these were my only batteries I would have torn all my hair out by now. :P Luckily I also have 2 egg charger batteries so I can persevere with the green ones without too much stress. :)
-
How frustrating! >:( It does sound odd, none of mine do that - I wonder if it could be a faulty battery? :-\
-
That would be my guess too. I hope you get this straightened out.
Talon
-
Kat, I am so sorry to hear that, how very frustrating, I have had that happen with the green battery chargers too, that is why I try to stay with the Egg batteries, not just because I sell them, but because the green ones just are so random in how they charge or do not charge it seems. I hope you can get it fixed. :) Good luck, did you buy this from PleoWorld, or somewhere else?
RWM
-
I do have my lovely egg batteries which I use most of the time. The green ones came with Minyon and it does seem a shame to let them go to waste. I tend to use them now and then when I'm in the middle of doing something and the battery runs out. They are a handy back up battery for those times when you just want a little extra play time. I bought the new charger on ebay. It cost me less than $20 including the shipping so I'm not going to cry if I can't get it to work. It is an interesting problem for me though. I would love to work out just why they are behaving in this way. I have been using both the batteries and charging each of them in the same charger. They both get the same response from the charger. When they do eventually charge they take about 4 hours to fully charge and the light to go green and I get a full hour out of them play time in the pleo. So I don't think it is a battery issue. I am thinking maybe it could be the power cable I am using. I had to get a new one to suit our Australian power points so I took the old one in with me to the electronics store to make sure I got one the had the same input and output. Maybe I will try a different brand of power cable next to see if that makes a difference. I feel a bit like it is a challenge to get them working now. :) I will let you know how I go.
-
If the batteries work OK that's a possibility. Kat's on a mission! :P
-
I went shopping today and bought another power cable, different brand this time - same specifications, for my green battery chargers and what do you know. It actually worked! ;D I plugged it into the wall turned it on and inserted the battery and straight away the light went solid red! ;D So looks like problem solved. Now I just need another one as I have two chargers and two batteries. :) At least now I know it works I can be confident in getting a second cable.
-
Ooh that is good news :) Glad you got a working cable, can you take the other back for a refund? It might be faulty.
-
No need. It is the same cable I have been using with my egg chargers and it works just fine with them. Really strange that it didn't work for the green charges. %)
-
Yay! Result - glad the charger works now! :D

I have kept myself busy this weekend with a little sewing project so as not to be too anxious about waiting for puppies.
Minyon kindly volunteered to model for me and I had a little fun being creative.
So here is the finished product a leaf cape. I have been thinking about doing this for a while now and thought it would be the perfect project to keep me busy. I have also made a plain dark green leaf which I am thinking of putting on a rusty brown cape.
What do you think of the leaf cape?
Kat
-
Hi Kat, I think the leaf cape is very cute, I would like to see it in a rusty brown or goldish red, that would be very pretty and cute, Your leaf gives me a different idea for a sewing project, not a leaf at all, but Gumble would look perfect as this project, the leaf gave me the idea. now to see if it will work, I hope it does. You are very creative Kat, I wish I could sew like you ! Pleos make the best models too they don't complain like people and they don't mind their shapes, no anorexic Pleos in my house! :D I think the leaf cape would be great with a little pocket hidden too where you can velcroe in the real "leaf" for a treat to carry with them whenever the "hunger " sets in.

I have another leaf cape in the making too but the next one is a different style. %) Might take me a couple more weeks before I have time to finish it though as I have hopefully got two little distractions coming soon and then next weekend I'm off to Melbourne again, but this time for a work training conference. I will be there for 4 days. So the sewing project will have to wait till I get back to finish it. %)
When I started making this one I actually started out with a more maple leaf type shape for the leaf but I found that it was just too hard a shape for me to try to hem around neatly. So I ended up cutting the current leaf shape out of it and this was much easier to sew. I would have liked the leaf to drape a little more over the sides of the pleo. If I make another one like this then I will make the leaf fatter, so it hangs over the pleo more. The leaf is only sewn onto the cape at the stem, the tip and then two small sections one on each side. So you can put your fingers in underneath it - or treasure - and it gives the leaf more of a fell onto the pleo kind of look I think. I did contemplate just velcroing it on but then though that when the leaf is off you will have velcro looking at you and velcro doesn't feel very nice to stroke. :) Overall I am very pleased with how it turned out.
If there is some interest in it I might add it to my shop as a new item for sale.
I am also considering doing one with a re/gold/brown leaf.

What about a Palm frond look? The leaf is big and wide and... um fingery? Not sure it would be easy to replicate in cloth but it might look neat.

Leaf cape looks great - for somebody who said they'd not sewn before you're doing phenomenally, Kat!! :D

;) Leaf cape reminds me the world of fairies. Keep up the good work

Bye the way today pleo's head was making a clicking sound so i turned him off. about a half an hour later i turned him on and the clicking noise was gone. What happened???
-
That was his neck motors clutching to protect themselves. They get stuck sometimes. You did the right thing by turning him off.

Do you still need another cable? I have a bunch extra if you need one.
The leaf outfit is adorable, btw... :)
I hope we see some aibo 'outfits' soon.. now that you have some of your own!!

I found this lovely red spotty fur the other day and it made me think of ladybugs. So I bought some and here is how it turned out when I made a hoodie out of it. Minyon seems to like it very much. ;D
-
Oh! That IS soooo cute! :D
*Spotty fur - how could I resist!* ;)
-
That's awesome, Kat! It reminds of fresh strawberries for some reason. SOOOOO cute! I might have to order a strawberry suit for Wilbur for halloween.... ;D
-
Very cute and does look like it is warm and cozy, you are right, reminds me of strawberries or Watermelon! ;D

Might look more like a strawberry if I did a fully enclosed tail and maybe work out a way to add a green jagged collar to look like the top on a strawberry..... %) Something for me to have a go at when I get a free minute. :)
And here is another fury shirt. :) Or maybe this should be called a coat? This is the other fur that I bought at the same time as the spotty red one.
-
That's definitely more of a nice warm coat - it looks lovely and plush, gorgeous texture! :D
-
Hey Kat,
your pleos looks very cool in these beautyful coats/shirts. Where can I buy such ones? Yes I know yours are not buyed.

Hi Choice79, Kat actually has a store here on the forum where you can buy the lovely Pleo clothing she makes, here:

There are other Pleo clothing and accessory sellers here as well, in the 'Stores' section on the blue tabs at the top. :)

Hi Crewella,
thanks for your help ;)
-
Ok and here is a little project I have been thinking about for a while but it took a suggestion from Crewella for the exact thing I was thinking of to get me excited enough to start. ;D
Crewella I promise I didn't feel any pressure :P I just happened to find some quiet sewing time tonight and was so excited about finding the spotty material that I couldn't seem to stop. :D
I did put the spots up against all the furs I currently have and this seemed to be the best match. the patterned or crazy furs just looked too busy against the spots. I liked this one bests. Let me know what you think. ;D
-
OMG that's PERFECT!! ;D
That's fabulous, Kat!! It HAS to be MINE! Thank you!! :D ;D
-
I'm so glad you like it Crewella. I am happy to do one with the multi colored green/purple/red fur trim if you want me too. Just let me know. I did think this fur suited it better though. It looks very sophisticated. ;D
And don't fret, this one has your name on it already! I've popped it aside for you. ;D
It turned out to be easier to make than I thought it would be. I'm going to add this style of coat to my shop. If I can find some nice white or gold fur then this would be the perfect style for a lovely red Christmas coat. ;D Might be time for a little more fur shopping some time very soon. :)
-
No, no, no - it's better your way, you're right! I love it, and so will Zillah, thanks! ;D :-*
*I'm already in Belle's bad books - she's going to be LIVID after this* :P
-
Perhaps I should make one for her too. :) That way there can be no fighting over the lovely new coat. :D :D
-
I'm mulling over that very point ........... ;)
-
Which size in dogwear fits pleo. XS or XXS?
Mine is on the road.....hope it takes not too much time :-(
Thanks
-
I've usually got XS or S - XXS tend to be too small around the middle, and tight on sleeves if it has them. Get proper measurements if you can, as some XS are too small as well.
-
I get small most of the time as unless it is open at the shoulders and has velcro, it is too tight to fit over the neck, and can put strain where it is not needed, If in doubt get a size larger as if you have the receipt you can exchange in most places and in best case scenarios, bring Pleo along to try on. The stores around here, including second hand stores are totally used to seeing me bringing one of my Pleos along and they ask where Baby is or one of the others, if I don't have one with me. :D

-
Thank you very much. Perhaps I should order the perfekt fits here at the shop. ;)
-
Indeed you should! ;)
There's also an advantage to buying some of the clothes made especially for Pleos - Kat's clothing, for example, is very easy to get on and off and also it is easy to access the battery and switches when the Pleo is dressed. It can be a struggle to get some of the dog clothes on over the Pleo's head without putting stress on the neck cables.
