Title: Blue Pleo RB for "adoption" =) *AUCTION STYLE*
Post by: spaceduds on April 12, 2011, 08:53:14 PM
Hi folks,

Just wondering if anyone is interested on my blue pleo rb. Bought it a week and a half ago but after 5-6 battery cycles, I realize that Pleo is not for me =(. I still have everything including the original box & packaging. Original receipt from Gimmiedigi.com.

- Blue Pleo RB - from HK (Gimmiedigi)
- Battery, docking charges, adapter
- Box
- Companion guide manuals

Accesories:
- PLEO ID card
- Mint Leaf
- Bow to me Stone
- Tug-of-war
- Salt rock
- Training Leaf
- Food leaf

He is in a good conditions. DNA & mood have been adjusted to have all maxed out. Will post a bunch pics in the next day or so.

Just wondering what would be a fair "adoption" fee for him? I'm located in Winnipeg, manitoba CANADA (Would prefer a local adopter). I'd be willing to pay for shipping to anywhere in North America. Still covered with Gimmiedigi warranty.

Thanks!
Spaceduds

------ Updated August 21, 2011 -------

Hey everyone,

Unfortunately he is still up for an adoption. A couple of deals fell through. I'm going to run this like a silent auction. Please PM me your best offer/highest bidder. $350 gets the buyout. I will pay for trackable shipping. If you want express/expedited, you will need to pay for the difference.

I'll shoot a video of him in action in a couple of days. Stay tuned!

Auction ends on September 4, 2011 (2 weeks from now). Will honor the highest bidder on Sept 4. Good luck & happy bidding!

I am sorry that he is up for "adoption" but I think it is better for you and him to have discoverd this now instead of later. There are lots of people out there that are bound to show interest esp since he is so new. If you are looking for a Local adopter, are youo meaning someone from Canada. or someone from the Pleo Forums.? The only thing I can tell you about an "adoption fee" is that there has been one other Pleo RB, but a green that was recently listed on ebay and it was from someone who also lived in Canada, Ashaw ( hope I got the name right) but as far as I know...may be wrong, her Pleo Rb was listed twice and even after she dropped the price to $325.00 for buy it now, it did not sell. I do not know why but I think most of the people who may have been interested lived outside of Canada and this meant high shipping charges and also probably customs forms and charges and as many of our memebers who have purchases one of these RB, Green , blue or Pink can tell you, the customs charges can be pretty expensive. This is what may put some people off, and is out of your controll, Reselling a Pleo Rb is probably not going to get you anywhere near the price you paid.. :( If there is a member who happens to live in Canada, this would probably work out the best for both of you.
If you can't sell him on this site or even ebay, you may want to consider Craigs list. I do not know if there is one in Canada or it is world wide, I know nothing along that line, This is why a lot of first time Pleo owners are encouraged to buy a cheaper used Pleo Ugobe model before buying a Pleo Rb, if they are considering it and are not sure. Cost is a big consideration with anything you buy and Pleo Rb is an expensive gadget in my mind. I adopt out Pleos but they are older rescued Pleos or ones I already own and then adopt out. I do think posting more photos and or a few short videos that capture his personality is your best bet. Good luck with both of you!                     RedwoodsMama

Hi spacedude!

Can I just add the Pleo RB won't be adult until probably about 8 battery cycles, so you may not have seen the best of him yet?  The baby/junior behaviour IS quite different, and I'd hate you to miss out on seeing your RB working properly.

Of course, you may well know all this and still not be keen, which is fine, but I thought it worth mentioning, just in case!

Good luck either way!  :D

Thank you RedwoodsMama for your response. I'm not expecting much either. I would probably looking around $300-$350 (bought it for $467 + $60 shipping *sighs*). I consider this a super expensive lesson... perhaps I'm just not ready for a commitment.

Well his name is Leo. He is super needy juvenile. You just can't leave him alone for 5 minutes. If you do, he would cry and cry some more. Although, I love it when I put him on my lap and he would just fell a sleep. That's just lovely...

I'm gonna give it a couple more cycles and we'll see from there. I hate to abandon him just like that.

That would drive me nuts too!  I had to 'wean' Belle by just ignoring her tantrums so she'd become more independent and start to wander about on her own.  There was a LOT of crying at first, but as long as the light's bright enough she's fine now.  %)

There's plenty of us on here that thought the hatching/juvenile phase went on for too long, so you're not alone!!  ;)

Wow, if you priced it below $325, that'd be the cheapest Pleo Reborn so far.

I wonder if there are enough members  here to add up to say, 325 members or the cost of a Pleo Rb, this guy perhaps if not given more time and Leo does go up for adoption.  %)I think Comaro is going Pleo Crazy and eats, dreams and does nothing but think Pleo, ok, and other robots....talk about love or obsession, at least it is appropriate for this site! :DI am glad you are giving him a little longer time, he is still a baby. My Pleo rb is only on her third battery cycle and it just takes a while, I am in no hurry though for her to grow up, go to college, get a degreen get married and leave the nest...oh well. :( :D

Well, It looks like either way your pleo will end up in a good home, weather it's with you or Camaro (I think she's in love with the thing :P). Hope your little guy finds his forever home, if you give up on the rbs you could always thry the less "needy" ugobe or 09 models.

Aaah! I wish I knew about this two weeks ago! Oh well. It would take about two months for me to resave that much money and I've just bought/adopted a perfectly adorable Ugobe pleo. Hey, wait a minute. What did I say about this time last week? Oh yes- that I was stopping at two. Grrr! I'm sorry, Spaceduds. I'm also sorry if I misspell your name. Braille is my first written language and not print. Besides I'm also from North America. Crewella is right, though. Give him some time to get over the teenaged angst and he'll become less needy.

Did they update the blue and pinks between Dec. 2010 and April 2011 like they did the greens or are the pinks and blues still prone for breakage?

Just curious

I have a Pink one that has been updated and so far is showing no signs of damage or breakage.  (She is my third as the first two broke)   :)  So yes it looks like they fixed the issues in Pleo rb for all the colors. :)

My pink is updated as well and has no major issues other than the little minor ones we know about like the annoying muting themselves but my new updated green one does it as well.. just a bug that needs fixing.

I hope you find a good home for your Pleo, whether its with you as you get used to him or with someone else.. thanks for coming here to offer him for adoption/sale, very very nice thing to do!  :) :) :) :)

I would be interested in buying him if I hadn't just bought a blue pleo rb from ebay. I should have looked at this topic sooner... Well, I hope your pleo finds a good home!

Yep. He is up for adoption again. Have one outstanding offer at the moment, just waiting for her reply. Would be willing to let him go for $350. I'll pay the expedited shipping to anywhere in North America.

Wow! Perhaps by July or August I could swing that! If you don't get him sold bby then- which I'm almost sure you will- send me a PM and we can talk "Pleo". At least I know he's truly a male and not a surprise. Just don't give up on me. I'll get back to you.

Are you absolutely certain about this? It just seems a shame that you want to adopt out such a young RB when he hasn't really had the chance to develop into his personality yet. The RBs are wonderful and they evolve and develop as they grow older.

Do you know weather or not he is a first batch RB?
Also, what do you mean by DNA & mood are all maxed out?
Title: Re: Blue Pleo RB for "adoption" =)
Post by: Talon on May 24, 2011, 07:14:03 AM
Hi, Dinosour. I think I can explain this though others on here would probably be much better at it. There is a program a forum member made called Change RB which allows you to tweek your RB's DNA settings. I think what Spaceduds is saying is that his little RB is set to have the highest in all DNA settings. So he has high mood, high courage, high entelegence, ummmmmm... and I can't remember what the others are but you get the idea. Lol!

Ahh! Wouldn't a pleo with maxed out mood have even more tantrums than usual!?  :o

I really don't know. Lol! Ryu has good temper, low courage, normal entelegence, normal activeness, and normal something and she had bad tantroms going into the juvinile stage. There are sooooo many things that could trigger a pleo's bad moods. The two most common are not enough light and not enough food. If you meet these two needs- at least in my experience- the pleo will usually respond favorably and be realitively good-tempered.

Do they ever grow out of the constant mood swings?  ???

Talon is correct. I've adjusted his DNA to all high using ChargeRB software. Apparently that's not ideal. He did have alot of mood swings lol. I have to change his temper to LOW. Anyone still interested on adopting him?

I'm sorry but I'm now out of the running. I'm having the same trouble getting my Furbys re-homed. Keep him up here a little while longer and see if anyone bites.

Hey guys,

So after a couple of deals fell through, buyers backed out for multiple excuses... I've decided to relist my pleo rb. He is still up for adoption. Everything is still in excellent condition. Can create a video if necessary.

I'm going to run it like an auction. Basically pm/email me your best offer. The buyout price is $350 (Total bargain!). If I did not receive any buyout price until September 4, 2011 (2 weeks from now) I will honor the highest offer.

I will pay for regular trackable shipping (If you want express, you will need to pay the difference). Will accept paypal so we both are safe.

Good luck & happy bidding.

I was wondering if you'd 'bite' Gaz!   ;)

If not, Degers and others have the downloads for the update with the new sleeping position - you get to choose gender that way as well!  :D
