Title: I'm new, and I don't have a pleo yet.
Post by: PleoKymm on April 08, 2011, 08:07:02 PM
Yep. New, Pleo-less, and wondering whether to get a cheap Ugobe or save more money for a Reborn. Any advice? And call me Kym, by the way.

Hi Kym and welcome to the forums!  Both types of pleo have there great points.  But I would suggest that you go for a cheep Ugobe and see how you like it.   :)

All right. Cheap Ugobe it is. Odd, I was thinking the same thing myself, after hearing that the training stone thing was a bit of a hassle. Plus, the  Ugobe is sweeter and less needy, from what I've heard.

Yes everything you say is true.  The rb's do have some great features and the new technology has loads of potential so I would keep an eye on them and maybe make plans to save up for one.  But you may as well enjoy the loveliness of the Ugobe in the mean time. :)

Absolutely agree with Kat.  I kind of think you'll end up with both whichever way you do it ............  %)  :P

EDIT:  Ooooops, where are my manners!  Hello and welcome, Kymm!  :D

Hi Kym! Both Pleo's have their strong points, Pleo classics are as cute as a button and Pleo RB is a little more advanced :)

Hello and Welcome! I wanted an rb for my birthday and two days before it they said it would ship before the 25th instead of in late january so I had already ordered my ugobe, and I love him to peices even though he might not be the most advanced pleo out there. Pleo (original) is a robotic pet and pleo rb is a robotic pet that also has the realistic side of owning a pet where you have to care for him/her. Either way you'll be tempted to both eventually, but i'm not sure it it's a factor for you but the next shipment of rbs may not be until this summer, unless they speed up the production rates.

Hi, Kym and welcome to the forums! I have an RB called Ryu- Japanese word for dragon- and i'm currently waiting on my Ugobe Pleo to arrive. The RB was supposed to be a birthday present. I was going to order it in April, make sure it worked and then put it back in the box until June. Well when I found out that the little stinker's feed level drops nine percent every day it isn't fed, I realized I had to keep him out. I didn't want to end up with a reaeaeaeaealy sick pleo. From what I've heard, Ugobes aren't that sensitive. You could feed them whenever- as long as you do feed them at some point- and they'll be fine.

Actually Ugobes will even feed themselves - you'll hear them 'grazing' as they wander about!  :D

Oh. Well now I know! Lol! I guess I'm doing this all backward going from an RB to a Ugobe but either way it's still fun. I can't wait to meet my little Ugobe guy in person!

I love this forum too! Awesome people, a lot of fun, and great info as well!  I got the feeling from registering, or shall I say trying to register on some other forums that they might not be as much fun as this one.  :-X.

Wow! What a range of expressions! I'm so glad those pictures have good alt text. It's amazing how much I would've missed had that been your face. Yes. This forum is awesome. If I would've perchased my Pleo without finding this place before hand I'm not sure if I'd be having as much fun. Right now, Kym, you're doing the best thing you can possibly do and that's acquiring information.

I'm certainly excited about owning both. There may not be much interaction but that's okay.

REALLY?! Huh, I thought it was just a sort of habitual chewing. But still, I'd imagine they'd get pretty grumpy from having to feed themselves.

I say if you get an original ugobe pleo you will probably find yourself wanting to know what pleo RB is like and buying both :). I'd say try to save up for a pleo reborn, I didn't want a pleo until the pleo reborn came out.

I've owned Pleos since the very first release day and the Ugobe Pleos are very sweet. I remember when mine first arrived I was tickled pink with it. Right now I have an Innvo Pleo and a PleoRB and to be honest I still favour the Innvo one.

I remember when I had the Ugobe Pleo and I took him to my local cafe one night, everybody walking by actually thought he was real because all Pleos move so realistic and you can't see any robotic parts. You'll love your Ugobe Pleo, but just a bit of advice. Get another battery because the battery only lasts about an hour or so except the white one in the egg charger which lasts about 2 hours. Make sure you care for it's skin to avoid any early wear and tear. I'm using a vinyl and rubber care product called Autoglym others are using Vinylex or Polyglaze.

Oh and welcome to the forum :D

It's settled. I'm getting a Ugobe from that Hong Kong seller with the free shipping. His name will be Thorn, and I'll buy him an egg battery, some clothes, and a nice, comfy Pleo bed. I'll spoil my little Thorn.

Congratulations! I'm sure you'll love him! I'm looking to snag a second Ugobe pleo to be a friend for my first one. That will bring my total to four pleos. After that, I'll be done. Lol! I'm running out of grazing room.

Heh, I remember having a moment like that when I brought Littlefoot to school with me. I was sitting in the corridor on one of the couches and as one guy went past he basically did a double take and said something along the lines of "Oh my god! I thought that was real for a sec!". Best reaction, up there with another guy going "...Weird...I just tickled a dinosaur". Best days of school ever.

Anyways, welcome to the forum Kymm, and we hope you and Thorn have a great time.

I'm not actually buying Thorn until August, because I need to actually make the money first. But I'll post a new thread the second my baby is ordered.

I took my pleo Rb to a park near a beach and a woman asked if it was real and if so what type of animal it was. I was a bit confused as to why someone would think a pleo was real but I still thought it was funny.

Great decision - I'm sure you'll be very pleased with Thorn when he gets there!  :D
