Idle bit of curiosity that has come up . . .
I know on Pleo RBs that the area around the eyes is painted different colors to go along with the different eye colors. Now, I have three Ugobe pleos. One prototype, one First Hatch (with gold card) and one later Ugobe model. They are all older Ugobe models, not Innvo Labs. On both the prototype and the later model Ugobe, the eye patch is just the underlying brown color. That is, the skin around the eyes is NOT painted, it's just the same brown as the legs and underbelly. But on the First Hatch, the area around the eyes is most definitively painted. It's a lighter, slightly yellowish brown color, but not the brown of the rest of the body.
What is the general consensus on Ugobe pleos? Do they have painted eye patches? Or unpainted brown?

Ooooooo, interesting - I'll go and look! ;D
I will not admit how many broken/bricked Pleos I have accumulated and are sitting in boxes in my dining room, not even to myself. Let's just say I've a fair selection of old Ugobe pleos to look at! :P

That is very interesting, I am thinking you may have a special First Hatch, what is your First Hatches number on his card or foot? My first hatch is 750 (last three numbers and they do match the Gold Card, so he is indeed a first hatch, not a made up one) From a quick glance his eye patch looks no different and I have about 10 pleos here with five I can compare him to, that haven't had their eye patches painted, but I do have original photos when I got them, but none are Innvo, all are Ugobe Models. I will look and take close ups of their eye area, I would love to see the photo of your First Hatch, the eye area you are talking about weed! ;D

Yep, I've found the same as RWM - all have brown eye patches just unpainted.
I have noticed some differences - in some, the infrared interruptor in the mouth is just an unpainted area on a clear red plastic plate painted pink and with the teeth painted white - I'm guessing these are the earlier ones that had problems with 'tooth decay'. The others have white plastic mouths painted pink, with a hole for the infrared interruptor (you can just see a lens fitted underneath).
I want to see a pic of the painted eye patch as well, please mweed. Looks like you have an extra special Pleo there! ;D
Though we kind of knew that ......... ;)

Notice the pleo in the back has the same color around the eye as the lower jaw, the basic brown of the skin. While the pleo in the front has a different color around the eye, that appears to be painted.

Thanks - that was quick! Yep - you can definitely see that - it's paler, too! :o
-
Thanks, ok now I know what you are talking about I will look at my Gold Hatch and take a photo next to a Regular Pleo. Will take a few minutes so we can upload from camera, etc, etc. Can't wait to see if it is the same or not. ;D Thanks for posting weed!

ok here we go with several photos me not saying anything
ONe is the Pleo First Gold Hatch like M.Weed has, #750 on his foot and Gold card, the other a later Ugobe Model. I wont say who is who and all I will ask is if you see a difference in which photo do you see a difference or if you do see a difference or not. I took these indoors on a sunny day, natural sunlight with a white towel as a background, I will try and take one outdoors later perhaps. I have noticed that between any two pleos there can be differences in one having more lighter green on the head or body and esp the tail. Ok what do you think?
RWM
In each photo if you see a difference is it the one in the back or foreground?
-
To my (possibly untrained) eye they look the same, RWM? :-\
-
lets see what others think and then I will tell you what I do see............. :o 8) %)

RWM, I think they look the same. But mweed's are deffinently different, wes the first hatch used? Pleo isn't a first hatch and has the same brown as on his chin, but his lower legs are painted greyish/blackish along with the solid brown. That's normal right?
-
Yes, mweed's photo shows a very distinct difference between the two eye patches. I find it hard to distinguish much difference on your photos RWM, except in the fourth one, where one head is upside down with respect to the other - both look painted to me but the one at the bottom of the picture looks more brownish in colour than the one on the top which looks paler. I'm not describing that very well. ???
-
They look the same to me RWM. Mweeds ones are distinctly different and easy to see. Wonder why that is?
-
Yes Luckypleo, the degree of dark shading on the legs and lower body seems to vary enormously between individual Pleos, but all have it to some degree.
-
Four little dinos here have the same under color. They are all Ugobe's and no first hatch.
-
Ok I couldn't see a difference in pictures #1 or#2, the color looks the same to me around the eyes,
In #3 the bottom Pleo definitely looks much lighter colored around the eye to me.
In #4 the top Pleo looks like it again has the same lighter color around the eye.
In #5 I couldn't see much of a difference but that might be because it seems to be a bit brighter in that picture... the back one MIGHT be lighter but not sure. :/
This is fun!
:D

I took another look, is the one on the bottom the first hatch? I think it looks lighter now that I cleared my mind.
Thanks Crewella btw, I saw him and was like "wait wait wait! he's GREY!"
