The Pleoroom forums are running a contest to see who can post the most. I like the idea of having a contest, but I've know how much some of our members here can post! I'm not sure we could handle the output if they tried to post a lot! ;)
PleoWorld even had a contest or two . . . That went over with mixed results. And while some may want original design artwork of pleo from Caleb Chung, I would prabalt have to bribe people to take signed original Bob the Pleo strips! :P
So, is anyone interested in having a contest? And what type of contest? ???
-
Please not a post the most contest :o I don't want to see our lovely forums filled up with spam :o
There are lots of artsy people on here, how about an Art contest?

Ilike doing art, just I don't have a tablet. :'(
How about a Natural Pleo picture contest? Like, a Camarasaurus in its natural habitat?
-
I don't have a tablet either but I manage :) It wouldn't have to be computer art, it could be any form :)
-
I would love to have a signed comic strip of yours. The contest would have to put us all on an equal keel. No art, writing, amount of posting or photos.
Perhaps a pleo hunt or looking for the crystal leaf. ;D
-
What! No art!? And I had a great idea too. Of course my not being able to draw stick people, let alone stick Pleos might have handicapped me just a little bit. ::)
-
A agree with not doing the post count thing. Don't want to be flooded with nonsense. I would like to see more people posting, though! ;)
I like the idea of an art contest, and the Spring Tomato Harvest Festival is only six weeks away . . . But the equal keel is a tricky thing. If it's too equal, then it just becomes random. Some may be better at drawing, some at making gingerbread houses ;) , some at writing, and some at videography. Some would complain that a mental challenge isn't fair to everyone either, because some are smarter than others.
But it does need to be something that any and all could participate in, and that has a fair way to judge.
The Italian forums did a "dress up your pleo for Christmas" contest.
I also like the idea of the entry being a photo, because pretty much everybody can take a picture.
-
I'm mentally challenged in the writing area but definitely can handle dressing up a pleo/pleos. I guess Spring is almost here. Tomato time. ;)
-
I like the idea of a art contest. :) I also like the picture one. My pleo has a lot of clothes. :D
-
I like the idea of a writing contest personally, and I'm not bragging, but I've been writing stories and poems and pretty much anything you can imagine for years now (and probably have better experience), so I guess I'll just forget about that idea. Not to mention, you never know but there might be others out here like me!
-
I love writing :) I've had some works published, although nothing major, just a poem here and there :P But a contest realy needs to be something as many people as possible can do, so I vote for a photo comp :)
-
Photos are good! :)
-
Well, I like all your options! Why not have ALL 3 contests??!! We should have a writing, a drawing, and a photo contest. Let's revive Pleo, bring the spirit back. This way, you can choose which contest you'd like to enter (or might be better in). Because for me, when I was reading this I got all excited! I was like ' I love writing, and I never thought how much fun it would be to write about Pleo'. Coincidentally, I have a fabulous Pleo picture I drew. And I went goo-goo over the idea of taking cute photos of our little dinos all dressed up. So if you ask me, I vote all three....Or either one for that matter! ;D Oh! And you should be able to participate in all the contests simultaneously if you so desired. ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)
-
Oh and you know, speaking of drumming up interest gives me a good idea, we should also have a skit comp using the tools available to us so far :)
-
Gucci, I love that idea of all threel
I messed around with a skit a tiny bit but any help I can get would be appreciated. Not being much of a computer person, it would be fun to have a group of us learning how to do them together.
-
I really should write a guide lol, but it isn't that hard...really...maybe...
Just open it up and play around with it, that's the best way to learn :) *goes to work on guide*
-
Yeah, I've never never tried any skits, at most I might've once or twice tried the love-struck one. So I'm with Fancy on this, I'm not the most tech savvy of the bunch. A beginners guide would be so awesome. I wouldn't *make* any per say, but I would like to learn how to use other peoples. Heck, I'm in agreement with romeo, have a skit competition. Why not, eh? So, I change my vote to all 4 options. :-D
-
I'm not so sure on the skit one. :-\ I'm not really good at doing skits,or making them. Anything else i'm fine with. Like drawing, pictures, and costumes.I love the ones of the elves in Italy.Especially the one where it's the body of an elf and the head of a pleo. :)

We all wonder about contest ideas, but the real question is"What's the award?" ;)
-
Possibly an autographed comic strip by Mike weed. I would go for that. My favorite comic strip.
-
The bitter-sweet gratitude of saying 'I beat you!'. Hehe, what?! Well, that's good enough for me. :-D
-
Maybe the winners Pleo could appear in a special edition of the Comic strip :) That would be so cool 8)

A giant Hershey's Kiss. :P
-
Well if we're having one when will it happen? ???
-
Finalizing details. Should kick off in a day or two . . . :)
-
Awesome! Can't wait ;D
-
I'm ecstatic!!

Looks like we're gonna go with four different styles of contests to address a number of issues, allow for a variety of submission types, and (of course) to maximize the fun!
Tomorrow, we'll start out by kicking off the ones related to the Spring Tomato Harvest Festival (it's a Bob the Pleo thing).
We will also start off the first "creatve arts" contest.
And, in another week or so, we'll try to get one or more publicity or Technology contests going!
March promises to be fun! So stay tuned!
-
Yayyyyy!! So, what do we do today?
-

Okay I feel a little lost (which isn't very hard to do) The only contests so far are the tomato pic one, and the haiku, right?
-
Close :)
There is the Haiku contest.
The largest/most/best tomato/Pleo pic contest.
The Spaghetti sauce contest.
And...
The best tomato costume for a Pleo :)
-
Well, you're both right. I was thinking of the Tomato Harvest Festival as one big contest. We haven't started the publicity or technoligy contests yet. I was going to start the next one on Monday.
-
COOL!! I just get so easily confused. Hehe thx guys.
