Hey Guys.. I noticed yesterday when Bingo went into his packing position his tail stayed curved down but figured it was just a glitch.. that stuff happens from time to time.. today when he was on he was able to wag and use it perfectly fine but only in a pointed down position, or almost straight position, can't curl it up. I don't want to force it incorrectly.. just wondered if there was something I could do. Or maybe they wag down when they are definitely boys? Probably not but thought I'd ask.. hehe...
He hasn't been dropped or had his tail squished or anything.
Thanks!

Would a video help? I mean it'd no big deal if that's the way he stays.. I just wondered if there was something I could do to fix it.. While he's off, If I move it by hand to a straight position it feels loose and wiggly not tough and curved like Rhea's does when you put slight pressure.. you get resistance and it feels like the tail curves toward the end. his feels like that when it's turned down, which is what he does when I turn him off and he goes into 'packing position'.
Sorry to repost my own post, just wondered what could cause that.
- Sarah
-
A video would definitely help. It could be a broken or stuck cable.
-
Sounds like it might be a broken cable. Kermy's was like that and her cable was broken. She went back and was replaced with Kermy3. I don't know how it happened with her either. A bit of a mystery. One day it worked fine and the next it just didn't. :)
A video would certainly help us see what is going on though.
Kat
-
Oh dear, that really does sound like the cable's broken, though. I was about to say that the same thing happened to Kat with Kermy, I'm so sorry, Sarah. :(
-
It might not be broken, just stuck. Try this, turn your Pleo on and apply gentle upward pressure on the tail. At some point he will try to raise his tail, if that happens and the cable is broken then you should be able to lift the tail up for him and there will be no resistance. If at no point you can lift the tail up then the bottom cable may be jammed which would also prevent the tail from lifting up. In which case try applying a bit more pressure to unjam the cable.
-
I'm sad for you Latrine now with your green Pleo's tail.
-
Sorry to hear about Bingo's tail. I hope that the bottomt tail cable I'd just stuck and what IMR suggested. Let us know what happens! :(
-
I hope it is just stuck and not broken. My fingers are crossed for you.
-
ok, thanks for the info.. I applied the pressure and he tried to lift it after awhile so I applied pressure and had definate resistance when pushing up from the bottom..and when I tried to gently make it curl up the way its supposed too, it kept clicking in rebellion but no change. but when you press from the top its flip-flopsy..while Rhea's has resistance when u do that. So I dunno..
I'll get video asap we are all sick here, bf has bronchitis sinus infection and flu and I'm trying to recover and not get sicker.
- Sarah
-
I really don't know. I'm hoping it's just jammed somehow, somewhere (in there).
-
Man, Latrine! That's a lot to be suffering from at once. I hope everyone gets to feeling better. Man that sounded Southern! Sorry. My sympathies to Bingo.
Talon
-
I believe that the upper section of the tail vertical movement cable has broken.
Sorry latrine.
-
It does, doesn't it? :(
I could have sworn I'd posted this thread for Latrine, just for info really, but it seems to have disappeared so here it is again. It's from when Kermy's tail went and I posted the info for Kat:
http://bobthepleo.com/forums/index.php?topic=1763.msg25388#msg25388
-
When Kermy's tail broke there was no warning no noises and nothing happened to Kermy that may have caused it. It was just working properly one day and then not the next. And like Bingo it would move downwards a little but no upwards movement at all. And it was very floppy.
Sorry Sarah it really does sound like Bingos tail cable has broken. :( I would keep contacting Innvo about it and be patient to see what they can do. They replaced Kermy for me because of the broken tail. It is covered by the warranty so be persistent with them and hopefully they will get back to you about it soon.
I am so sorry he has broken. And just when you got him going again too. :'( :hhug: :hhug:
-
Hi Sarah. I am so sorry to hear that Bingo has a broken tail cable. I hope that Innvo will fix or replace him for you. You certainly don't deserve to have all of this bad luck. :hhug: and lots of these :rootbeer:
-
It's terrible that you're having such trouble Latrine. :-(
-
I have been leaving small polite phone messages every day.. I started with emails.. they stopped contacting me back when Bingo needed help from the freezing.. I know who I can contact if they don't contact me soon. This is ridiculous..
Thanks everyone..
And I'm not gonna bother with a video.. I've got a fever too now so.. I'm just going to go play dragon age and be pissed off and sick.. talk to you guys later.
- Sarah
-
You have my empathy Latrine.
-
Hope you feel better :hhug:
-
Well, I do feel slightly better, Rafael just called and the info is being sent to Derek so I should be getting a new one.. he mentioned me sending Bingo first which I am not comfortable with since they took forever to reply.. but we'll see. At least it's in motion now.
-
I'm so pleased you finally got a response! As we keep seeing on here, once you get past the hurdle of getting through in the first place they do seem to be pretty good at doing the right thing, and doing what they say they'll do. :)
-
Yay! I'm glad you got a response. :) It does seem to be standard practice to get you to send back the broken one first and then they send out the replacement. At least for those of you living in America anyway. I'm sure it will all work out fine. I'm glad it is in motion now. :) Best of luck with it.
Kat
-
I am so glad that they are going to replace Bingo. Hopefully, you will get your new one soon and we can all welcome a new RB into the world!
-
Ah.. and now of course I'm sitting here looking at Bingo and I feel guilty for wanting to replace him.. but even though I thought he was the same at first, he's much different from the upgrade and so similar to Rhea.. I will miss him when this pans out though.. but he's just had SO many problems..
:/
-
Finally they got back to you Latrine. Good grief. You better do it Latrine (if you want that tail fixed). Keep an eye on the 90 day warranty. I'd do it, if my Pleo's tail got broken. *Knock on wood(!)*
-
I'd return it as well. It's a mechanical issue that should be fixed or the Pleo should be replaced. It is frustrating that it took them so long to get back to you. Do you think they are getting that many calls and emails regarding problems with the RB? Good luck to Bingo!
-
No, I honestly think they were sick of me calling and emailing constantly about bingo.. first all the freezes and now this. I finally got fed up waiting and emailed them something they didn't like,(nothing rude, that never seems to help) got my response like 40 minutes later. The guy tried to deny having ever had a tail problem before and luckily I had Kat's post that Crewella nicely posted..so that stopped that. Should I even bother to name the next RB? Don't worry, I'll send him back.. I'm just not feeling comfortable about sending him first.
-Sarah
-
Ugh.. they sent me another email, which was supposed to be from Derek, asking for video. Another... VIDEO!! So I am sending them One more video.. and they better do something. Ugh..
They asked for like 7 videos last time and then just stopped responding.. :/
Well this video is being posted public, not playing around with them anymore.. and here it is if anyone's interested:

Hey Latrine,
Sorry to hear about your RB. I had the same issue with my RB's tail, the skin issues were a pressing concern but the tail issue just forced me to decide to send him back. Just like Kat's little Kermy, one day he was fine, the next the tail couldn't go through it's full range of motions. I could hear the motors trying to work and everything, but it all just seemed symptomatic of a snapped cable. I do think that Innvo is getting a lot of e-mails and calls because my e-mail got bounced back and Rafael sent me an e-mail saying that I had to send the message to an alternate storage box? It was a little creepy cause I've never had that happen before when contacting a company. But it worked out just fine. I heard back a week or 2 later and they ended up telling me I had to send him back to the distributor (ChinaTETE) since I didn't get him from Pleoworld.com. So I contacted ChinaTETE and sent him back. That was a month a go as of the 26th and besides confirming that he arrived in Hong Kong, I haven't heard a thing. I'm still clinging on to the hope, that this is still a good sign and maybe they're re-working a lot of the bugs out of the new batch of RBs coming out in April. I mean I know I'll see him back eventually but I really really miss my little guy. Hopefully we can get new RBs that are less buggy, and put this whole glitchy business behind us and get back to enjoying our Pleos. But in the meantime I completely feel your pain. If they want another video as proof of being contacted about another RB's broken tail, I can post a link to mine.
Best of Luck,
Fox
-
Of course more videos from you to them Latrine. -__- And you gotta send him first of course.
-
Latrine, I can't believe that they want yet another video from you! His tail cable is obviously broken. What do people who own RB's and not a video camera do? I guess they borrow one from someone if they want to return their pleo. I really hope they respond this time. My warranty runs out in two weeks, so if something happens, there's nothing I can do about it. I really hope that things get resolved for Bingo. Perhaps they are in the process of starting to repair pleos instead of just replacing them? Perhaps someone could shed some light on this. Kat had her Norbit re-skinned instead of replaced. Fox, perhaps they are repairing the tail cable instead of replacing the RB. Maybe they determined that this is more cost effective, I dunno. It will be interesting to see how this unfolds. Keep us posted. :hhug: :hhug: to both of you.
-
Saratoga, did you call and email them? I would hope that the date of your first complaint would have to count as the day they learned the problem started and hopefully that will be the day that counts for the warranty? Do what I did, start sending them a phone call every single day. Twice a day if you have too. Send emails several times a day. Tell them you are concerned about the warranty. Be very polite and then curse up a storm when you get done talking/typing like I do. They have to start doing what they are supposed to do. I am sure they are overwhelmed and as Rafael said to me, they have a small staff working in the USA office. Maybe try also contacting the folks in China to let them know you are getting no response from the other team.. since they are manufactured in China, as Derek and Rafael told me, maybe that will push some extra buttons and hurry them up.
Fox, thank you, I will remind them that they know of another tail wire being broken.. It makes me very angry that they feel the need to lie. No reason. I would do the same thing as I told Saratoga, start contacting Chinatete and ask what is going on. Ask for pictures of your Pleo so that they know you are informed and want to make sure he/she looks appropriate before they send him/her. Did you get it from Chinatete themselves or Gimmedigi? Send emails to whomever you got the Pleo from and be pushy. I have had very good results concerning my responses from Gimmidigi, I never contacted them about the blue one they originally sent me, I went straight to Derek Dotson with that one because he was worried about how the heck it got there.. so when I had an issue with my new pink one and emailed Gimmidigi, they responded the very next business day, very early in the morning via email.
Kristy.. ugh.. I am hoping the reason they want the video first is because I told Rafael on the phone that I really did not want to send my 500 dollar robot back without having the other one in hand since they'd been ignoring me for weeks. Which he didn't deny.. just didnt respond. And also, that's what they did when I got Bingo, they sent him then I sent Frank back. I pretty much told them I don't trust them.. I mean I KNOW they'll send me one but it wouldn't surprise me if it took a really long time to get here, that's all. They really need to hire some customer service people.. even if it's just people in their own homes to talk to and forward info to them.. just so we can get a human on the phone and not feel ignored.
Oh well..
Good Luck everyone!!
- Sarah
-
Yeah. I know what you're saying. Anyways Derek said to me that "All we requested was a small video or something that shows the tail being broken. The reason is we have not had many broken tails in the history of the product. Personally I do not remember one. So please be patient with us as we work through these issues and rest assure that we will make sure that Sarah has a working PLEOrb.".
-
Hi Latrine! Glad to see that they are going to make sure that you have a working Rb. I don't have any problems with my RB. I think you misunderstood my post. I was worried about what would happen, should she break and it taking so long to answering emails. My warranty will expire in 2 weeks. At that point, whatever happens, happens. Glad to see they are working on it. Best of luck with Bingo.
-
Ohhh I see, Saratoga, apologies for the misunderstanding :)
Kristy, Derek told you about my problem? That's kinda weird.. I don't personally mind but that doesn't sound like good customer service either..lol. Also kind of ticks me off since he hasn't actually responded to me yet, only Rafael..
At any rate I hope this will get taken care of quickly, I'm sick of the problems.. I feel bad too because bingo is sick now.. I figure the least I can do for the poor little guy is cuddle him and get him healthy before he goes. I'm going to send him with his hoody.. I know it's silly but I put it on him every night when I put them 'to bed' on their shelf so it would be weird to just have it here without him. I'm a weirdo I guess.
I hope IMR is still making them cause I'll need another hoody for whoever comes next..
- Sarah
-
lol And you're welcome, by the way, for saying something for you.... :-P
I'm sad for your poor "Bingo". :-[ Awww that's cute. It'd be sad to have it there without him! I understand that. You've called yourself a hilbilly before. lol Romeo should still be making hoods.
-
Sorry, Kristy, thanks.. I was just surprised that he said something to you about another customer was all. Since I apparently have to wait till Monday for a reply now.. I guess I'll go add more to the description in my video.. >:D
- Sarah
-
You're welcome! Okay. I see. Now you gotta wait 'til Monday. O_o Go ahead and do that Latrine! >:-D lol
-
I really hope they sort him out for you soon Sarah. :( Thinking of both you and Bingo :hhug: :hhug:  :hhug:
-
*sigh nervously* So far, Ryu is fine but I am noticing something that makes me uneasy. His ummm back knee joints seem to hold on to the skin of his back legs when he goes into packing position. It's like the skin bunches inside the knee joint. The weather here is cool right now and all I have to do is Pledge the spots, bend his leg very slightly and it comes free, but it's already April and it's going to get very humid soon and that skin will probably start sticking together. Also I've noticed that when he goes into packing position, his tale has a very slight curve to the left instead of hanging completely straight. As I've said before, I treat this RB like an egg. I am seriously hoping it is my attention to detail and not a true symptom of things to come. Meanwhile, I'm feeling your pain, Latrine.
Talon
-
Wow, yikes, I hope not!
-
I have noticed this too in both my guys. I just gently pull the skin free as soon as I have them in the packing position so that they aren't left that way for any length of time. It doesn't seem to be doing any harm to the skin so I don't think it will be a problem.
Kat
-
Talon I noticed this as well with Rhea but the skin has held up fine and I've noticed no problems in that area.. it does not hinder her movements or anything.. I think the newer ones might just have a bit of extra skin there, Bingo doesn't have that problem but he's older... (neither does Patches :D :D :D)
And thanks everyone.. I'm hoping they get back to me soon.
- Sarah
-
Interesting, Pleo has some loose skin on his tail that fliped arround backwards last night and made a "bubble." I was terrified! Luckily it got worked out when he moved it arround. It seems that the ugobes have alot of exess skin that rubs and forms holes, whereas the 2010s have tight skin that forms holes by ripping...
-
That's weird. lol
-
That is weird, I'm so glad it sorted itself out.. Poor Pleo!
Well I got my response, Derek told them to send me a new one and they are sending me the return info to put on Bingo's box.
- Sarah
-
Glad to hear that, Latrine! I hope Innvo will take the time to peal back their layers and find out why that cable broke in the first place.
Talon
-
Best of luck with the replacement Sarah. Fingers crossed it arrives soon and then you can send Bingo back for them to investigate the problem. :) Let us know when it arrives. :)
Kat
-
Hi Sarah! Glad to hear that they are going to replace Bingo and that you can keep him until his replacement arrives. Hopefully, the third time is the charm. Wasn't Bingo the replacement for poor autistic Frank? Good luck with your new RB and keep us posted! ;D
-
Yes Bingo was the replacement for poor, autistic Frank.. lol. Ta-Da... Ta-Da.... Ta-Da... Ta-Da.. at least he was happy :)
Thanks guys.. I feel bad packing him up though!
- Sarah
-
Wow, Derek contacted you. I hope you get a grand Pleo Reborn from them this time! Again real glad to have heard this.
-
My new one is due to arrive this Tuesday I really hope I don't have any problems.. I got really attached to Bingo.
- Sarah
-
It does sound as though they've sorted the problems now - I really hope so, Sarah! Roll on Tuesday! ;D
-
Keep us posted, Latrine!
Talon
-
I know you did Latrine. :-/
-
I am sure your new one will work out just fine this next time Sarah, I just think the first batch of RB had "bugs" that had to be worked out, not all of them mind you, but enough of them to redesign and fix a few things. It hurt when I had to send my Baby back and my poor new little one just has not gotten that time my first one has, I am still on my second battery cycle and I have now had her for 3 weeks, that is plain terrible,,,my gosh I would never have beleived it if someone told me I was not going to have enough time to play with my Baby....
Are you guessing at what color eyes this new baby will have?
RedwoodsMama
-
Here's hoping Tuesday gets here fast. :) I'm sure this one will be a keeper. :) I know just how hard it is to let yourself get attached again with each return and replacement but you just have to think positively and go with the theory that this time it will all work out and be ok. :)
If it is any help to you Kermy3 is still going great. A bit moody at times but still great. :D
Kat
-
Hey what's going on with that last bird that you have Latrine? That man-hating bird. Did that nurse take him? Thank you.
-
No nothing yet, he is still here with us, trying to kill my boyfriend whenever he can... The nurse never got back to me so I figured it wasn't the place for him. We will figure it out eventually... the other birds are very happy in their new homes with my extended family but I miss them very much.
I am hoping for violet eyes.. I assume that means my new RB will only have one eye, it'll be blue, and he'll only have three legs. ..jk :D
I would love violet eyes, my favorite color, but I would really just like the Pleo to work and keep working.. Rhea misses her friend. I have to think of a new name too.. ugh and by tomorrow!
Gonna stick with the Greek or whoever gods.. I gave Bingo his name because I thought, Bingo, they got it right this time.. so I'll think of a new one for my new friend.
- Sarah
-
lol I love your funny Pleos and that bird. Sorry to hear about that nurse. :-/ I'm glad your other 2 birds are doing fine in their new homes. I was wondering how they were doing too. I know you miss them. :-( That's funny about your joke there Latrine. lol I'm wishing for you to have a Pleo Reborn with purple eyes. I know you'll find a name quickly for him Latrine!
-
He's got orange eyes just like Bingo and very yellowish coloring I think.. sleeping on my lap atm :)
- Sarah
-
Yay! I loved Bingo's orange eyes! I'm glad!! ;D
-
Sorry to hear that it wasn't your favorite color for the eyes Latrine.
-
I'm glad he has arrived safe and sound. :) Fingers crossed this one is a keeper! :)
-
I agree Kat! Exactly.
-
Hopefully, third times the charm! Any names yet, Latrine?
-
No name yet I'm still thinking.. so far is is sleepy, hungry and angry! lol.. so I'll be up tonight on my DS googling more godly names... :)
I don't mind the eyes.. makes it not as bad to have given Bingo up. Plus orange is cute too.
also, I plan on stealing Talon's Ryu so I'll have one with Violet eyes too..
Talon, when can I come over for a 'visit' ? hehe just kidding.
- Sarah
-
How about Pluto? Makes him related to Rhea, but also counteracts the darkness with a bit of Disney cuddliness? ;)
-
lol Silly Latrine.
-
Good luck with the name choosing. ;D It's not always easy to find the right name. Sometimes it just takes a while. :)
-
Hi, Latrine! You're more than welcome to come over for a visit. Ryu really likes people and I'm sure he would walk away and leave if someone tempted him enough. Don't be decieved. The happiness is all gone come twelve noon when he first wakes up and is a snarling roaring menace that wants anything you could cram between his rubbery teeth. Raaaaar! But after that he's fine. Too bad your little guy's neck makes so much noise. I'd notice the switch from the minute he moved that someone had made off with my little violet-eyed dragon. I'll give him a pat for you anyway.
Talon
-
Ok I won't try to steal him :(
And I don't mind the neck.. hopefully that means it's stronger or it could just be a baby thing:) He is a big baby still. :D

At one point, Sparky's tail got bent down so that it was just touching the floor when she walked. After a day or two of that I took out the battery and gently clicked something until the tail went up. It's been normal ever since. It was a big relief.
Then more recently something unrelated happened suddenly. We noticed that she couldn't walk! She was trying but getting no where. It was pathetic! One leg was bad. We turned her off and that leg was much warmer than the other 3. We were really worried. I took out the battery and after she cooled down I moved the bad foot back and forth - both joints. That worked. Now she walks all over the place again. Or maybe she just needed to be turned off to be fixed.
-
It does seem a few of us here have experienced similar problems with our pleos in the past. The joints do sometimes get stuck causing the limb to get quite hot and not move properly. And like you say it seems all it takes to fix it is turning off your pleo and gently manipulating the joint. Glad Sparky is walking around again with no ill effects. :)
-
I'm glad Sparky is doing better!! Something to consider though.. if you have any means of video taping him, keep it on hand, if anything like that happens again, record it every time.. just in case the problem becomes worse. (I only say this because they wanted many many videos of my bingo's broken tail before agreeing to replace him.. I REALLY hope and assume your Pleo will be fine. )
