Happy Valentine's Day!
(The pic won't show until it is approved by a moderator)
-
I've approved the photo, I'm not quite sure how this approving thing works yet, I'm awaiting instructions from Mike.
-
Thanks Degers,
How come they have to be approved anyways, surely no one here would post something inappropriate :o
-
It was more of a software glitch. When we tested it as guinea pigs, everything worked fine, no approval needed. When I enabled it for everyone, the system started wanting approvals. And, of course, it happened on a weekend my internet service went down. I've been out since Friday. Looks like the culprit is the WAN portion of the router got fried.
As of right now photos don't need approval, but comments do. I'll see what I can get straightened out today! :P
-
Hehe technology, don't you love it, so many quirks and quibbles :)
-
That's a really cute background, good job inmemoryofromeo! ;D
-
That is such a cute picture. I wish i saw this befor Valentine's Day. :D

I loved these. Glad you posted them here. I missed seeing them. My favorite is the pleo looking up at the mountains.
-
Yeah I like that one too :) And the oil painting kinda one :)
(Please note never ever immerse your pleo in water! These pics are all done by trickery.)
-
Those are so cool :)
-
I LOVE THOSE!! I remember those, gosh I missed those. I made sure I *saved* them this time. Now I'll always have them. :-)
-
Funny, this is what I did last time I was waiting for my Pleo to arrive :) Its a good time waster :)

How do you find these fantastic background photos? :)
-
These are some of my photos :) I prefer to use my own pictures, with the exception of the Yellowstone park one and the two using windows vista wallpapers these are all my photos. The Pleo pics all belong to Ugobe though :)
-
I made the image "Pleowater" wallpaper for my screen and when I powered up, my better 3/4ths noticed right away and said she kind of liked it. I would like to make one of the bumper stickers, but I don't have a car in The City. I ride the MUNI buses. I wonder if MUNI would mind or care if I slapped one on the back of a bus before I got on? ::)
-
Haha that'd be awesome :) Free advertising for Ugobe :)
-
Haha too funny guys. Once again, we are all mesmerized Inmemoryofromeo! I love love love these! Hehe I noticed the swan one was on Matilda's Facebook. :-)~
-
I didn't think the black birds were geese or ducks. The black swans are gorgeous. First time I've seen them other then the ballet "Swan Lake" ;D
-
Black swans are some native Australians :) They come up really close and they will feed out of your hands, they can be quite big, a good sized male is about the same size as I am when I crouch down to take their pics :) We attracted these beauties with a bit of bread though they stuck around for quite a while even after the food had run out, they were very co-operative just standing and posing for my camera :)
-
Up here in Texas, the geese are Canadians enjoying the warm winters before flying back north. They can be quite mean, and will chase you!
-
Here in the bay area those geese from Canada have gotten lazy and stay all year. And the grass doesn't grow well from too much fertilizer and the walkways can get slippery. ;)
-
Ewww, but they are lovely birds :)
-
Actually, I like watching the Canadian Geese. I'm a bird watcher and here they are adapted to humans and don't bite much. My dad used to raise them when I lived in the hills as a kid and those did bite. I also have seen a black swan here swimming around at the San Francisco Zoo and they're beautiful animals. However the Canadian Geese here aren't as welcomed especially around Oakland's Lake Merritt. :P

Hey, do you know the Australian Bunyip legend? It can turn people into black swans. 0_o
-
Erm... never heard of that, and I live here :o
The Bunyip is a mythical beast that is our version of a lake/swamp monster as opposed to the Yowie which is our version of Bigfoot.

Yeah, it can cause flood waters to rise very high, and anyone who touches the water will supposedly turn into a black swan. :o
-
Must be WA or NT version of the legend, certainly not common here in VIC. :)
-
That's interesting. :)

These desktop backgrounds are beautiful as always. You are one talented gal!
-
Just made "Lost Pleo" my wallpaper. InmemoryofRomeo, are the pictures you use from Australia?
-
Thank you :)
The top one isn't Aussie, that is a Californian red wood grove :) The bottom one is my Nan's garden :)
-
I didn't know if you had redwoods down under or not. So I got your Nan's garden. Anything in the garden that would attract a pleo out into the "wilds"?
-
If we do have any redwoods they would be imported, we do have some lovely ancient rainforest in Tasmania though :) They were used in the walking with dinosaurs film.
Plenty of tasty herbage to tempt a Pleo in my Nan's garden, especially in the fern patch :)
-
Yet again, you simply amaze us!! I love the 'garden scene'. I'll be sure to save it. It looks as if it might even be a **real** pic!! (But knowing you, I have the feeling you made this one.) ;-)
-
Lol in the words of tony the tiger "They'rrrrre GREAT"
-
Lol I had to google Tony the Tiger :P We don't have that cereal here to my knowledge :o
Yep it is another 'made' pic ;) If I put a real Pleo there it would be about the same height as the bottom layer of rocks :P Once my new Pleo arrives I am going to experiment with some photography in the outdoors :) (Not long now YAY it arrives on the 19th :D)
-
By next week you will have your new baby dino. Yay!!! :) :) :)
-
Celebrating the impending arrival of my new Pleo with a very up close piccy :) (For those of you who aren't super with computer images you can right click on the picture and choose copy image location and paste that into your address bar to bring up a picture that can be enlarged, which is better for larger monitors)

-
awwwwwwwwwwww. How cute! :)
-
Thanks :) Lol they look HUGE on my 17inch widescreen :P
-
I love the flower. :)
-
Looks like the pleo is thanking the bee for the flower. Cute! Cute!

Hi InmemmoryofRomeo,
I kept right clicking on a bunch of different occasions trying to get this picture, but "copy image location" just didn't show. I mostly use Internet Explorer and when I switched to FireFox it worked fine. If you keep coming up with these great shots my lap top is going to get confused. ???;)
-
Sorry I never use IE :P Ok for internet explorer you will need to right click and go to properties, a little window will come up and in the middle of it will be the picture link, however to make life a little easier on everyone here they are:

-
Oh, my! That barely gives you time to work on a costume!
-
I'll stay up all night if I have to :P But it runs until April 4th so I should be able to make one (or two) by then :)
-
Hehe I can't wait until your new Pleo gets here. That was such a culture-shock to have heard someone saying "I had to Google Tony The Tiger to see what you're talking about" LMAO
-
But how may people here had to google "wombat" to find out what they were?
-
OMG!! That is sooooooooooooo true! Hehe when I heard wombat, I had no idea what that was. Well I heard of it, but little did I know it would be this cute and cuddly little fuzzball from Australia.
-
Lol we don't have tigers on our cereal :P We have Toucan Sam, Snap Crackle and Pop, King Wheeties and Din-O-saurs. lol Actually some of those are probably American cereals too :)
But it is the same as me trying to explain what a jaffle is, or why Vegemite is the best sandwich spread ever ;)
(A jaffle is a cast iron implement that hold two slices of bread and a filling and presses them together to form a tasty pocket, it is then placed in hot coals to toast, taken out and eaten :) Nowadays though you can get fancy electric ones :P but they taste better cooked on the fire :))
-
WOW!!! The world is SOOOOOOOOOO much bigger than Brooksville, FL.! That's so cool. I truly love learning about the different faces of the globe, it is so fascinating. We have toucan sam, snack crackle and pop. The others, IDK. I love fruity pebbles, and lucky charms. Lucky Charms has the leprechaun. Hehe, remembering a Aussie friend I met (AKA interrogated--I asked her every single question I could fathom about Australia) she told me about this 'vegemite'. -tilts head to the side, showing confusion- I don't remember what it was but the name is familiar. Is that veggie cream cheese (neufchatel cheese)? Isn't that so wild how things can be so different all over the world? That always fascinates me.
-
Vegemite is a thick black gunky spread made from yeast and is the worlds richest known source of vitamin B :) Its really yum, but Americans just don't seem to have a taste for it :P Interestingly though Americans now make it after buying out Kraft, which used to be an Aussie company. A health group recently tried to ban it from Australia because it has a high salt content, needless to say the campaign went really really badly lol.
We don't have Leprechaun cereal, we have Skippy-o's though shaped like little kangaroos :P
I used to live in a place called Brookeville, it had a population of six people :) Me and my dad in one house, my nan and pa just down the road and two other blokes just up the road :) It was so peaceful up there :)
-
When I saw your vegemite I immediately thought of Vitameatavegamin. On an episode of "I Love Lucy,
Lucy was doing a commercial selling bottles of a vitamin drink. It took so many takes that Lucy became drunk. This was one of the funniest episodes, ever.
Have you seen the reruns IMR?
-
I love Lucy ??? Nope never heard of it... I just googled it though, it was made in 1957 :o I wasn't even born then :o
For those who aren't familiar with Vegemite...
(http://images.google.com.au/url?source=imgres&ct=img&q=http://pluaustralia.files.wordpress.com/2009/01/vegemite01sizedmj3.jpg&usg=AFQjCNF5gVeuP_ahl5vph-qSt9vF6zsBkg)
-
When I was young, (soooo long ago,) some of my veghead friends talked about Vegemite, but I never tasted any.
-
Its not really something you can describe lol, its salty, but you don't really notice the salt, very strong, thick... I practically live on the stuff but I can't describe it lol.
-
Oh I love MARMITE!!! I eat marmite every day on my toast! :) It's just like the Australian vegemite, just a different name. It's made out of a yeast extract! YUMMY!
It's said that you either love Marmite or you hate it.
-
This is SUCH culture shock!! They have vegemite/marmite, but have never heard of 'I Love Lucy' ("LUCY!! YOU GOT SOME EXPLAINING TO DO!!") Hehe, that is as American as apple pie!
However, as far as this thick gunky yeasty thing, I think I'll let all you folks keep it. It just looks like black tar. To each his own, eh? (Trust me, I've ate some 'adventurous' stuff too)
And for Brookeville, hehehe they're pretty much the same. We are a pretty small town (A LOT more than 6 folks though)
Here's our govt site-http://www.ci.brooksville.fl.us/
-
Is there any way you can see the old reruns of I Love Lucy? She was the best comedian ever. If you can find any, please watch some of the episodes. Besides being so funny, it will show you what the 50's were like here in America. My favorite episodes where: Lucy at the chocolate factory, Lucy door to door sales person.(she was doing home per menants.) and had to put some pocket curls, named that because if you over process hair it breaks off roller and all. You had no choice but to hide them in your pocket.(poor ladies) and Lucy stomping on grapes for wine.
BTW, I was a cosmetologist years ago and never had a pocket curl. TG! ;D
-
Ha ha I agree with fancyfont, I loved the chocolate factory one. I think (if you live in US) that you can rent and buy the episodes at a video store and they sometimes come up on TV Land if you have the channel. They're really funny :)
-
Wow Brooksville has a website ??? Lol I was the only person in Brookeville who even knew what the internet was :P
I asked my Nan and Pa about I love Lucy, Pa thinks he might have an episode or two somewhere in his old video collection, he said he'll take a look for me later :)
-
I hope your pa still has a video or two of Lucy. Once in awhile I'll see an episode on TV and can't resist watching it. Still as funny as ever. :)
-

-
And then there's PLEO! Awesome! 8)
-
Haha love the D-rex.. :D didn't notice him at first! haha I love it, its my new background!
-
I wish D-rex would hurry up and come to Australia :P I want one to do a Pleo/Rex rematch :D With a little programming help for Pleo of course ;)
-
Totally awesome!! You rock IMR! I (secretly) despise d-rex and roboraptor. Pleo has my soul dedication!
-
Don't worry lol, D-rex will get whats coming to him *does evil mad scientist laugh* ;D
-

Today, here in California, is your yesterday. Does that mean you have your new little dino? I can't wait to hear and see all about it. I want to be glued to my chair every minute Wish we could all be there to meet your new arrival. :) This is so exciting!
-
dot, dot, dot??? Where is Pleo, IMR? Or should I say how is Pleo??
-
Wish we could all be there to meet your new arrival. :) This is so exciting!
Don't forget the pictures! ;D

Thank you :)
Easter ones coming soon :D
-
Thank you :)
Easter ones coming soon :D
Yay!! I love the spring time.
-
Its Autumn (Fall for my American friends) here :) Almost winter :P Not that we get much of an Autumn :P All our Native species of plants are evergreens :)
-
Oh yeah! You're on different seasons! Duh!! Autumn/Fall I suppose they're one in the same. We are currently coming out of Autumn/Fall right now, and into Spring time.
That is so wild, I can't imagine it being Christmas and it's hot outside. Or vise versa for that matter, having a cold Easter.
-
Easter is usually still pretty warm. But I have had Christmases where it has been 40C when I was younger and we went camping for Christmas with all the family but we just spend all day down by the river :D These days though we have Christmas at my Nan and Pa's, they live in the mountains where it is cooler :)
Ahhh spring time, the best time of year :)

I could go for the egg. Maybe with a spring setting. Pleo came to life last Easter. I think he could go for that. :)
-
I think it could be done ;) I'll have a look see shortly :)
-
I have done one, it isn't quite what I wanted but I couldn't find the right picture. I will do another after I go shopping tomorrow and get what I want :)

With chocolaholics around here, this poor little pleo might be in trouble! ;D
-
Mmmm chocolate :D Oh wait I have chocky in the cupboard :P

-
Ah rubbish, IMR!! I love the chocolate pleo look! This one's a great pleo desktop!! (And yet another I have to save 8))

Ick. I hate marmite. LOL
Anyway all the backgrounds and stuff are amazing! I saved all of them. XD
-
*is insulted* Marmite tastes absolutely nothing like Vegemite :-X There is nothing like the real deal Aussie Vegemite :) (I wish I could send you all some to try :))
-
I'll try just about anything vegetable. The most exotic thing I've eaten was a live bee larva. The worst thing I ever ate (sorry Scotts,) was haggis. I would love to try either Marmite or Vegemite. 8)
-
Muhaha got my hands on some fancy new add ons for Paint.net :D
(http://i352.photobucket.com/albums/r358/EStar5Diva/FirePleo.gif?t=1238987937)
-
Looks like the Pleo from the James Bond movie "Goldfinger." ;)
-
Looks like a bronzed casting of pleo. :)
-
For the first time ever... a picture with a background created completely from scratch :o
(http://i352.photobucket.com/albums/r358/EStar5Diva/PleoSky.gif?t=1238992743)
-
It's wonderful!! Is this done by using Paint.net??
-
Cooool! 8)
-
Paint.net with a few add ons :) And some help from a few tutorials on the paint.net website :)
-
Some more experimentation with sky and grass... (Sorry these two images are only 800x600 didn't realize earlier)

Monarch butterflies are my favorite! ;D Most butterflies only last a few days to a few weeks after they pupate. For them it's hatch, eat, form a chrysalis, pupate, emerge as a butterfly, have fun, lay eggs and die. The Monarchs in California on the other hand live long enough to migrate to Mexico in the Fall and winter over and then they or their offspring have a return migration in the Spring. When they lay their eggs, they lay them on milkweed plants from which they ingest a poison which is harmless to the Monarchs but nasty to birds. Any bird dumb enough to try to eat one will immediately spit it out because of the bitterness and will know not to try it again. 8)
-
Beautiful desktop!! IMR
Interesting facts about Monarchs, 49er. Learn something everyday, here! :)
-
That has to be once of the greatest migrations on Earth :) The little tiny things have been found actively flying at 20,000 feet which is absolutely amazing too.
-

I've been in an old volcano at 15,000 feet (4,600 m) and the air was thin enough that I'd have to pause for breath every few minutes. Flying at 20,000 feet (6,100m) is incredible in it self. But the greatest aerial migration I know of is the Arctic Tern, at about 20,000 miles (32,000 Km) per year. If that interests you, check out the movie "Winged Migration" if you haven't seen it all ready. :)
-
I have seen that, but I was referencing more to the size of the creatures making the migration ;)
It is almost winter here and so I thought I'd do one wallpaper that wasn't quite so sunny ;) If you have xp I believe you can use it as an animated background but I'm not sure.
Please note: NEVER EVER LEAVE YOUR PLEO IN THE RAIN!!!
-
That reminds me of an old song, "Don't leave your records in the sun. "What's a record? ???"
-
Records are excellent frisbees ;)
The rare and elusive Snow Pleo sings with the wind in a blizzard.

And catching a snowflake on his/her tongue. ;)
-
Well you did say there's skiing in Australia!! ;) That doesn't look like a bunny hill to me. ;D
-
That reminds me of an old song, "Don't leave your records in the sun. "What's a record? ???"
A record? Like the old CD-ish things?
-
I've been on Mt Hotham in a snow storm attempting to get snow chains on the car :P Not fun :P We don't have bunny hills, but we have bunny tows ;) (Its a child friendly ski lift)
-
That reminds me of an old song, "Don't leave your records in the sun. "What's a record? ???"
A record? Like the old CD-ish things?
Yeah, like the Ooold CD-ish things, except about 12 inches (30.5 cm) across and mostly black. If you go to a good museum or a very well stocked antiques store you might see one, (if you're lucky. :D)
-
Or you could just check my living room, we have piles of them :P (I told dad they are going in the dustbin if he leaves them to me in his will ;))
-
They work well for skeet shooting. ;)
-
You must be a lousy shot if you need something that big! :D

*sings* Starry, starry night... paint your palette blue and gray...

-
lol "HUH" sounds like a pleo alright lovely pic too!
-
IMR, Did you paint the balls with ferns? Beautiful pictures!
-
Kind of lol, you create a blank page with whatever pattern you like (In this case ferns) and then apply them to a 3D sphere, so the pattern comes first :)
-
AMAZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (saved all of 'em too!)
-
Hey could you do a Summer wallpaper? Like Pleo at the beach? hehe
-
Absolutely :) I'll do one soon :)
-
I'll have to wait til morning for better light to take some photos :)
"Where's that pesky human?!? I ordered a Pina Colada an hour ago!"
-
It looks like Lilo's had one Pina Colada too many already! ;)
-
lol Yeah... Oh man I just had a image of Pleo wearing a bathing suit and playing with a beach ball in my mind... WOW LOL
-
Now there's a place I would love to be! ;) One smart pleo! :)
-
lol Yeah... Oh man I just had a image of Pleo wearing a bathing suit and playing with a beach ball in my mind... WOW LOL
Well I can do that too ;)
-
Really? I'd like to see one lol :)
-

-
You have really out did yourself with Lilo in her bikini! :) She is going to get lots of whistles from the male dinos! ;)
-
Lilo is blushing ;) I couldn't resist :) I love a challenge :)
-
SOLD! That is now my desktop wallpaper! And where did you get that bikini?
-
The bikini is my creation :P Lilo swears she will never wear it again ;)
-
The bikini is my creation :P Lilo swears she will never wear it again ;)
hehe it suits her very nicely i recommend she wear it again
-
Yeah and since Summer is near, she should wear it lol...
-
IMR!! LOVE IT!! Cute, cute, cute! They both look ADORABLE! Lemme guess, you were inspired by us Floridians right? LOL Had to throw that in.
-
Lol absolutely Gucci :D
Sadly Magical, it is almost winter here in Australia, and the beach has been traded in for a nice warm fire for me :)
"Can someone fetch the ball for me? Huh?"
-
What!?! No more picnics in the 120F heat?
-
IMR, You should be making calanders to sell. All of these photos are wonderful! :) :) :)
-
LOL And here in NJ- US it's 85-90 degrees, as summer will begin soon lol... And another cute picture!
-
IMR, You should be making calanders to sell. All of these photos are wonderful! :) :) :)
I so agree! IMR is so talented! I vote she makes calendars and makes the pleo clothes!!
-
*blushes* Is not talented just patient 8) *ruminates over the calender idea*
-
Don't sell yourself short, IMR! You can do anything you set your mind to! (Which I sooooo think making calendars is possible!)
If I remember correctly (which I do), the lady in PA who had Linus & Schroedder made a cute calendar. *wonders why MAGGIE44N never made her way here*
-
Oh you can find her on YouTube... I've seen a lot of her videos... You could probably e mail her to come here... :)
-
I can easily do a calender, but it is a little pointless at this time of year, snapfish does nice ones and they have quite reasonable prices :) They also do lots of other gifts too, once Stitch arrives I am getting a Lilo and Stitch t-shirt made ;)
-
Maggie44N sent me a darling calender of Linus and Shroeder. I cherish it. It's hanging right here by me. I hope she will eventually join us. She is a talented lady. :)
-
Sounds good :) She must know we are here, I remember the calender but it was very expensive for me :P
(http://i352.photobucket.com/albums/r358/EStar5Diva/PleoHatch.gif?t=1240983371)
-
Aren't they a little too young to be raising their own baby? (but other than that, very cute!!)
-
They are just wondering why it's taking so long for their sibbling to hatch!
-
Phew! I was worried there for a moment. I thought they were too young for the pterodactyls and the Jurassic Insect stories!! :D
-
Hehe 49er :D
HAPPY BIRTHDAY SPENCER (GUCCI) !!!!! ;D
(http://i352.photobucket.com/albums/r358/EStar5Diva/pleoparty.png?t=1241139803)
-
IMR, What a gorgeous birthday card!! Cutest I have ever seen!! :) :) :)
-
Great picture ImR!!! :) What was the background from?
-
The background is Brighton Beach, Australia, not our nicest beach, but certainly the most colorful :)
-
If anyone would like to use these pictures to create cards, t-shirts, mugs, mouse mats etc. You can access them all here:
http://www4.snapfish.com/thumbnailshare/AlbumID=378270019/a=260245019_260245019/otsc=SHR/otsi=SALBlink/COBRAND_NAME=snapfish
You will need a Snapfish account to create and purchase gifts, you can also upload your own pictures. I have used Snapfish many times to create photo books for my family, they have excellent service and their products are of outstanding quality. Oh and their calenders are to die for :P
-
IMR, Thank you so much for sharing this information and your work :) Your pictures are magnificent!
-
do you actually get winters in austrila?
-
It was minus 2 degrees Celsius last night (28 F) and winter hasn't started yet :P We get snow in the winter :)
-
How low does it go in Vic?
-
I am in Victoria :P It gets colder in Tasmania :)
-
IMR, Have you seen any of those giant bird-eating tarantulas show up in your garden?
-
Sadly the giant bird eating spiders like a warmer climate, they are further north :( The biggest spiders we get are huntsmans which can grow pretty big, about the size of a soup plate including the legs. But bird eaters are much bigger in the body with compact legs, huntmans are kinda flat with really long legs. :)
Its so cool when you chop open a log and a whole family scatters everywhere :) Huntsman:
A decent sized bird eater:
-
ImR, is that your hands with the bird eater? 8)
-
Lol no I've never had the opportunity to hold one of those beauties, only huntsmans :) (The darn thing crawled up my trousers :P Gave me a heck of a fright :o)
-
Are the Huntsman lighter than they look and are their little feet velvety soft?
-
Huntsman are very light, I didn't even know it was one me until its little clawed feet dug into my arm :P (They have little hooks on their feet to grip trees and bark in their natural environment)
The bird eaters however have soft pads on their feet, and they just tickle although they are heavier so you'd notice one of those if it was on you :)
-
I hope these are non poisonous spiders! ;D My dad would love one of these as a pet. ::)
-
They are venomous, but not dangerous to humans, a huntsman bite just leaves a lump for a week (yeah I found out the hard way :P).
I've had pet huntmans, but a bird eater would be pretty cool, they come in some lovely colors :)
-
Would that be a small lump like a bump, or a large one like the one Marty Feldman had in "Young Frankenstein" :D
-
IMR!! Awesome job on all these backgrounds! Mostly of course, my birthday e-card! That was so nice of you! Thank you so much!
Yep everybody, you know what they say, it's better to be over the hill than buried under it! 19 years down, how many more to go?
-
I would love to be 19 again! I'll trade you Spencer! ;D
-
Hehe, just a small lump 49er, not much bigger then the diameter of a bottle cap, and only a few millimeters in height but different people have different reactions, my dad doesn't even get lumps :P
You are of course most welcome Spencer :)
-
yestersay a spider crawled up from my bed while I was in it! It freaked me out a lot.
???
-
Yeah spiders in my bed would be a no go for me too :o I had a mouse in mine once :P It escaped my mouse mansion and ran over me in the middle of the night lol, scared the bajeebas outta me :P
-
I've had scorpions. We both had disagreements with each other. Don't like being awakened by a sting. >:(
-
Come to Florida, Y'all! We got'sta deal with spiders, roaches, moths, lizards, fleas, mosquitoes & those bloody ants! I'm sure there's quite a bit more, and surely not all of these appear all the time. But it's just a thing you have to deal with. Bug bombs or not, they surely always show back up! Gotta love living in Florida, y'all! :P :P :P :P :P
-
And those are probably just the ones that live in your apartment, as I recall the south. Gucci, you didn't mention the cockroach bulldogging events or the swamp marsh mosquitoes carrying off small dogs and cats! ;)
-
Eww, gross! Spiders! I'm an arachnaphobe. :-[
-
Actually 49er, we have something called 'swampfest'. It is held annually in (you guessed it)-a swamp! It is nothing but a big ole convention for hillbillies to buy and sell and just be plain ole hillbillies. Needless to say I was dragged each year by my grandma as a kid. Boy, I'll tell you what, they have THE BEST fried green tomatoes I have ever ate! (My mouth is watering.....)
-
Fried green tomatoes ???
Sounds interesting...
Here is a pic I took yesterday, as you can see the weather wasn't the best :) This part of the coast is rocky, but on either side is endless stretches of sand :) (I'll put up some more pics soon)
-
What a terrific photo! I'd like to be there right now! :) Never had a fried green tomato much less a fried red one. Loved the movie, however! ;)
-
Beautiful photo, IMR!!
@Fancy & IMR: Just try them! They're delicious! There was in fact a movie called fried green tomatoes. It must just be a southern thing...
-
If you are inferring the menu in "Fried Green Tomatoes" is normal southern fare, I'll pass. BTW, my better 3/4 and fried green tomatoes don't agree. :P
-
I don't think I could even handle red ones ;D
-
:o :o :o
WOW! I can't believe either of your responses! [to me] they're really good, but I suppose that just might be my southern pallet! I suppose that expression "to each their own" holds a lot of truth. I'm sure there are quite a few things californians eat that I'm not too keen on, particualrly that sushi!! Yuck.
-
(http://i352.photobucket.com/albums/r358/EStar5Diva/PleoMother.png?t=1241942337)
-
ImR,
I showed your Mother's Day Card to my better 3/4 and she enjoyed it immensely! ;D
-
How beautiful, ImR! Love the colors! :)
-
Thank you Fancy :) (My Nan's favorite colors ;))
Glad the other 3/4's liked it 49er :) Did Pleo give his mum a big cuddle for mother's day ;)
-
Glad the other 3/4's liked it 49er :) Did Pleo give his mum a big cuddle for mother's day ;)
Nope! She's jealous. Pleo gave his dad (me) a big cuddle. :D
-
Lol silly Pleo :P
A raft of one legged seagulls ;)
-
And then there's bathing beauty, Lilo, Trying to look like a seagull standing on one leg. So cute!!! :)
-
A raft of one legged seagulls ;)
So ImR, how long did it take you to catch all those Silver Gulls and tie one of their legs up? To position them did you glue the free foot on a rock and bury it in the sand for that natural look? Humm? Looks like you got carried away and tied up both legs on one. Wait a minute, wait a minute. I know what you were doing now! You were making a birdie version of an Ikebana arrangement to accent Lilo at the beach. ;)
-
*dies laughing* Well AJ helped fetch the gulls... and I always carry super glue in my handbag... and in fact they were glued to a piece of driftwood... 0:-)
Seriously though, you know the weathers bad when they don't take off :P
-
You're sure this is the only way across :o
(http://i352.photobucket.com/albums/r358/EStar5Diva/PleoPelican.png?t=1242041012)
-
You're sure this is the only way across :o
I thought Lilo looked like she was having fun on the back of that Australian Pelican. I imagined her using that large bird as an organic surf board and yelling, "Surfs Up!" while waiting for the next big wave. The big question in my mind is this. Would Lilo be daring enough to go out on the end of that bill and "Hang Six!" 8)
*dies laughing* Well AJ helped fetch the gulls... and I always carry super glue in my handbag... and in fact they were glued to a piece of driftwood... 0:-)
I see! An aspiring Heather Jansch!!! ;D
-
another great pic IMR! whats next for lilo? swimming with great white sharks maybe? lol
-
Or Hammerheads! :D
-
I like Tiger Sharks. And.. what's it called, was it "Blue reef shark?" ???
-
Oh I so have to dig up my shark pics, *writes sticky note*, Scuba Lilo :P
There are lots of reef sharks, blue tips, blue fin, black tip, white tip, wobbegong, nurse sharks...
-

Great white sharks are easily the best! lol, sorry i wanted to be a marine biologist a few years back so i could study sharks lol, but science is not my strong point so excuse my shark enthusiaism, though if you want a real challenge IMR you could do lilo vs the megalodon lol
-
Now how would I fit Lilo in the same pic as a behemoth like that lol. I think Great White Sharks rule too :) My dream is to swim with one outside a cage :)
-
You or the great white :o
-
Preferably both ;)
-
Pleo isn't afraid of such a beautiful creature...
-
This one is priceless, IMR! :) :) :)
-
no way imr thats my dream too! after i finish uni of course lol! we should go together.
What a beautiful picture, now making it my desktop background :D
-
Lol awesome, I have to finish uni too though :P I'm studying Secondary English/History teaching or Primary school teaching (haven't quite decided yet I only just found out that the university has changed Primary to be available via distance ed :) ) What are you studying?
-
(http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h29/kisumi-/Megalodon.jpg)
not a desktop picture and not quite to scale (couldnt make pleo small enough but though it would give a general idea of size lol
-
Ooohh kisumi Charcharodon Megalodon am i right? :)
-
Carcharodon Megalodon too many h's hehe but yeah, really facination of mine :D

IMR, that one's fantastic! :o
-
Aww, Lilo & Stitch...on the hammock, or underneath it? That is the question!
Great pics, IMR!!
-
Its been a while since I've done a new background... this one is inspired by Walking with Dinosaurs ;)
-
It reminds me of the saying about dog powered sleds that the scene never changes except for the lead dog! %)
-
It is walking with the dinosaurs! Darling! :)
-
Its a girl :)

Jade wants a pink blankie now. I hope she doesn't pick up on all the other accuterments. I'd go broke! :o
-
Lilo and Stitch have been demanding a dressing gown and bunny slippers like their Mum has ;) Almost finished one set... but I need to work out a more economical way to sew the slippers/booties, they take about an hour a set by hand :o I can't be spending an hour on each set if I am going to sell them on ebay :o
-
Who's a pretty boy?
-
Stitch has a new admirer! ;) What a gorgeous photo!

IMR, Great photos! *wonders where on Earth I've been!*

Happy July 4th to my American friends :)

Thank you ImR. What a fantastic photo! Love the sparklers around pleo. Amazing! :)
-
Wowza!! Typical IMR-just when you think you've seen it all, she shocks you with even more *beautiful* backgrounds! Keep up the good work, girl these look GOOD!
Happy 4th to all my American friends... ???

When i found out i was going to walking with dinosaurs i looked it up and that's how i found out about pleo. :)
-
Hehe :) I found out from the news lol, love at first sight... although then I had to wait four months for them to actually arrive here :P
Walking with Dinosaurs: The live experience... was just fantastic! If it ever comes back to Australia I am going to go see it again :P
-
I downloaded every one!!!!!!

My gosh, I've seen it! It was spectacular! Of course, I cheered when the Allos came out. <3

I bought front row tickets so I was at the perfect height for t-rex to come and roar in my face ;D That ticket was well worth the extra forty dollars and the 12 hours by car, bus, train and tram :P My dad regrets not going to this day ;)
I've been feeding the parrots outside for the last couple of days and finally got them calm enough to get some good snaps :D They look a little scruffy at this time of year and their plumage is a bit duller than the spring plumage but they are still pretty :) The blue and red ones are Crimson Rosella's and the one with the green is a King Parrot :)

The Brachiosaurus head passed by so close..... And what's funny is that the stupid Ankylosaurus just stood blocking my view there while I tried to look at the Torosaurus. XD

At least you get to see parrots in wildlife!!! Us New York City people have to go to the Bronx Zoo or our birds are the pigeons eating the leftover burrito on the sidewalk next to the power plant!!!
-
I have never seen prettier parrots then these. Wow!!
-
Wow! So many Pleo backgroungs, I love 'em all! My picture-editing skills are no good, but it would be fun to experiment around with putting pleo in outrageous settings...
-
It is a lot of fun :) Give it a go, it is really not that hard :)
-
Is paint an okay program for doing these? I mean, paint really isn't professional at all..... But I'm still learning about it, so is it possible to do these on paint? Just wondering? I mean, you can cut and you can copy and you can paste. Is that all that's required? :-[

Well you could make a background but it would look nothing like these ones. Paint is terrible
-
Its not possible Allo, you need layers. Paint.net has layers and is free ;) Its the same one I use, why don't you download it?
-

One more download and this computer will explode. 0______o Maybe on my laptop.
XD

Its a very small file, only a few meg if that helps :)
-
Almost beach weather again...
-
So ImR, Lilo and Stitch like to dig up the beach when they get there. Are they looking for something or burying something? %)
-
Lilo likes to collect the seashells :) Stitch kinda just gets dragged along :P
-
I love the foot prints. Are they really from your little dinos?
-
Hehe no, my dog kindly volunteered his feet to set the pic up :)
-
His feet would be much easier to clean then your little dinos! ;)
-
A real winner for a background. ;)
A real loser as a reminder summer here is almost done and it was too cold! >:(
A hope you have a winner of a summer 8) IMR! ;)
Dadio 8)
-
If by winning you mean 'do nothing for days on end except go swimming 'cause its too hot for anything else' then right on :)
It does mean BBQ's down by the seaside though... so I guess it's not all bad ;D
-
I'll take the sun and heat anytime as opposed to the cold. :)
It's beautiful here in the winter. Ottawa does have the longest skating rink in the world. ;)
Since I ended up in a wheelchair its hard to enjoy the winter. :(
I'll post some photos of Stoney in the snow in the upcoming months. Crazy Man! :P
I spent 7 years in Jamaica and never missed the snow for one minute! 8)
Dadio 8)
-
Wow Jamaica :) I couldn't stand that much heat (I burn far to easily) but it must have been fun :) You could attach some skiis to your chair and go skiing ;) Don't forget to add some really good brakes though :o
I was never good at ice skating :P Although that might be because I only tried it once ;) Ice rinks are few and far between down here :P
-
Wow put some water skiis' On my wheelchair and add some really good brakes! ;D
^-^
Now there's a dream worth mulling over! ;)
If you ever want to learn how to snow ski and ice skate this is the place. :)
Best hills and as I said longest rink in the world it's about 7 miles miles long (I think)! :P
Lilo and Stitch would just love it! Stoney does! :)
Photos to come soon ((dec or Jan) I promise to post them if the snow cooperates. ;)
Dadio 8)
-
Don't dream, it's already been done ;) http://howtoadapt.com/Waterskiing/Waterskiing.shtml
I helped a friend of mine confined to a wheelchair try that once, it was a blast! Only she was better at it than me, I spent all day falling in the water :P She was able to go tubing too (do you guys have tubing? Its a large floating ring towed behind a boat which you sit in) and could have tried Kayaking. (although we never got around to that one, having too much fun elsewhere ;)) Skiing has been done too, but our limited snow seasons mean we never got to try this :(
http://www.achievableconcepts.com.au/
You are only limited by your imagination Dadio :)
-
IMR, That had to be so much fun for your friend. Brave , too! ;D
Dadio, What an experience it would have been to skate on any outdoor rink when I was skating. I wanted to so bad. 7 miles, whew! Now that is one long rink! Is it a river or lake?
I wish it got cold enough here freeze some rivers and lakes. Just gets cold enough to freeze little ponds for a few hours No frozen fish to my knowledge, but lots of damage to plants.
We have one of the most beautiful ice arenas here in Santa Rosa. It is the home of Snoopy and the Peanut gang. The only ones allowed on the ice in this family are my pleos. :)
-
I believe a dream is a dare not yet taken! ;)
5 years ago I was confined to a sick bed. I took a lot of narcotics.
I dreamed of sitting in a lazy-boy chair. ???
3 years ago I was confined to a lazy-boy chair and could walk no further than 15 feet.
I dreamed of an electric wheel chair which I couldn't afford being on a pension.
The pain increased so I got more narcotics. :P
1 1/2 years ago I had a brand new electric wheel chair and could walk about 5 yards(15 feet ha ha).
I dreamed of having a van with an elevator so I could expand my range of activity so it was
farther than that of the wheelchair. The pain was horrible so they gave me more narcotics. ^-^
This year I got the van and lift and I've been traveling long distances
and seeing and doing all kinds of things. The pain was too much so I was given more narcotics.
So I think I'll mull over dreaming about water skiing. I'm not sure as yet
cause my pain has gotten beyond my heavy doses of Hydomorphone
(it's supposed to be 7 times stronger than morphine.) I don't want to take more. >:(
To be realistic though, my pain is the only limiting factor I'll entertain. :o
So in the mean time robotics keeps me occupied. I sleep when I can and when I can't I daydream! ;D
My dares tend to be that in programming or mental challenges. :)
My only limitations are between pain, narcotics and death! ???
The narcotics don't even give me good dreams. My pain specialist says
that pain is the great clarifier of the mind. I'm tired of being clear all the time. :(
My disability is pain. It doesn't let me be mobile cause I fall down.
Mostly it's back and rib and sciatic pain. Its called neuropathy where the coating
on your nerves is eroded away and its like an exposed nerve. All the time.
Most of my back, my sciatic my ribs and pain from severe arthritic orthopedic joints. :'(
Yup I'll keep dreaming and keep enjoying life with my young bride (married 26+ years).
My two beautiful daughters of 25 and 23 years old still keep me on my figurative toes.
Fortunately they are all three super healthy and active. I won't let my life slow them down. :-[
We too try and help others. We've learned sign language and help people and
families to be rehabilitated, whatever their situation or challenge. By helping others and their trials
I tend not to think of my own.
So when I'm alone which is often I dream and program and play with my robots and
R/C cars and helicopters or make models or paint or try and play guitar or sculpt or draw
or PLOG like this. :P In life they're no limits! ;)
Dadio 8)
-
Fancy Font your right it is awesome. It's the Rideau Canal and lake attached at on end
here in Ottawa. ;)
Enjoy what you can and give back just as much as life takes! :P
Sometimes it's too cold though! - 40 degrees is just too cold. 5 to 10 below freezing is fine. :)
Dadio 8)
-
The coldest weather I have ever been in is 18 degrees. Can't imagine -40 degrees. Everything must come to a total halt at that temperature.
-
Not Really! ^-^
As they say here "You dress for it". :P
You plug your car in at night to keep your engine oil warm! ???
"and then there's what they call the "apres ski" or after skiing." :o
I'll let you figure that one out! ;D

I googled neuropathy, there seems to be terribly little research into the problem. I hope that awareness is raised and some more work is put into finding a better solution than narcotics. Apart from their other solution of implanting things into the brain to stop the pain receptors feeling anything :o
I hope that you can at least manage your symptoms and continue to be a wonderful part of your families life :)

IMR thanks for the good words. ;D
My family and my GOD is why I'm alive today! ;)
When ever I get dark thoughts, they're their with an encouraging thought or deed! :)
I try and keep busy when they're out and Stoney and you all and other friends are
good to keep me in line. ;)
All in all, I have a great life and I don't mean to complain. Pain is just something
that's there, awake or asleep. It's like air to me I really don't mind. I manage. ^-^
But really thanks so much for the interest! :)
