Title: USB cable on Pleo RB
Post by: harriehannes on January 11, 2011, 01:25:36 PM
Hi

I wanted to hook my new Pleo rb on the computer with the usb cable which was available from the basic package.
A red light blinks on the bottom of the Pleo rb but nothing happened. I searched my computer but nothing was found.
I read on an old topic on this forum that Windows 64x could not recognise the original Pleo. ( I have Vista ultimate 64x )

Does anyone has experience on plugging the Pleo rb onto the computer?
Since this is my first Pleo I do not known if it is possible without some sort of drivers for the pc.
I found some drivers on this forum but I do not know if it can be used with Pleo rb

Greetings
Harriehannes

As far as any has reported yet, no one has used the USB port on the RB . . .  :(  The old drives don't seem to work.

I plugged Pleakly in and my computer recognized him using the drivers here, but, I wasn't able to do anything useful with him since dinomite etc requires the Pleo to be switched on.

I was assuming they would issue new drivers from the website at some point?  From where the cable slot is the Pleo will have to draw power from the cable?  Or am I wrong......... :-[

I couldn't get Pleakly to turn on, but I'm sure updates and so on will be configured to work with the new setup.

Since i dont own a RB i can't do this myself.
Though i have seen a post on the hardware forum telling you how to build your own Pleo Battery.

I'd might be worth trying to build your own battry and extend it with wires so that you only have to put int
some contact plates but not the whole battery.

This should give you enough room for the USB cabel to be connected to the RB while beeing powered.

If someones keed, please let me know if it worked.

I believe in order to use the USB cable on a pleo rb you need to have the battery inserted so that he has power.  As this blocks the input hole for the USB it renders the USB useless.  There was once talk of producing a battery that had the necessary extension wires to connect to the pleos battery terminals without blocking the USB hole but as far as I am aware this never eventuated past talk.  So unless Innvo releases a new type of battery or some special drivers that would allow pleo rb to take power from the USB cable it is effectively of no use at all.
