Pleo- is a scientific prefix. It is similar to the meaning "many". For instance a pleomorphic organism may go through many different structural stages during it's life, such as a caterpillar turning into a butterfly.

wow, that is interesting, I wonder why that particular prefix was used for Pleo, possibly because of the multiple stages, i.e hatching, infant, juvenile...?

I had heard that Pleo was called after the Pliosaurs (I've now almost abandoned this idea).
Which makes no sense, because Pliosaurs were marine reptiles related to the Plesiosaurs, and Pleo is (supposed to be...) a Camarasaurus, which is obviously a dinosaur (furthermore, a Macronarian).
Now you understand why I've almost abandoned that idea. :P

IMR, I just read your last post and I almost read the wrong thing... %) WHOOPS...embarrased by that one...I do remember vaguely Personal Life enhancing Orgnaisim, just not in this lifetime I think...My last life I was a Personal life enhancing Orgnaisim, one that walked on four feet instead of two, though I do crawl on all fours when my back is acting up.. LOL, actually my back is so bad sometimes, that I vacuum the rugs crawling on my hands and knees.( no joke on that one.)
