CR2016 is a very common battery, and should be able to be found at almost any store that sells watches,  I.E., Wal-Mart, drug stores, etc.

To set the clock you just use a paper clip to press the button next to the battery cover on her foot.  The button is a pin sized hole.  You need to set it at whatever time you want your pleo to be most active as she/he will then take this time as "noon" for them.  I play with Kermy after work usually about 8pm at night on weeknights but I also want to play with her during the day on weekends so I have set her "noon" time for about 4pm.  This means I can't play with her first thing in the morning on the weekends but I can usually get her going around 10am.  If I try to play with her before this she will only run for no more than 5 mins and then just curl up and go to sleep and switch off.

If you don't have the clock battery inserted then the pleo rb wont work it will freeze in position and beep every few seconds.  The clock batteries are not expensive.  You do get one in the box with your pleo but it probably is a good idea to have a spare.
Hope this helps. :)

CR2032 makes more sense.  Still a very common battery.  But I thought Smilegirl said 2016....  Panasonic, Duracell, Energizer, Sony,.... they all make them.  SHould run between $2-4 US.

Yes that's right :) You will need to use a paperclip to do so though, the button is a tiny pin hole.

should I do this when Pleo is on or off??

You can do this while your pleo is switched off.  Pleo rbs get a bit upset if you put them upside down when they are switched on.  If you try to do it while it's switched on it will be wriggling its legs around and crying so it might be a bit hard. :)

i too cant get my watch battery to stop beeping. I have exchanged the clock battery two times, and the metal tabs are fitted correctly over the shiny part of the battery and the plastic top is put on tightly but it still beeping. Also the Pleo will not shot off when i press the on/off button (even if holding it in for more than 10 seconds). I have to actually take out the battery to stop it. i have left messages for the help line, got a not helpful response by email (an assumption I had but battery in wrong) and now I am a little frustrated.  Can you give me some advice?

As every case like this so far has proved to be down to the watch battery it's probably worth trying a second battery.  I believe one or two of the watch batteries have turned out to be duds.

Hope you get it sorted out.  :)

The on/off button won't work properly when it is in the repeating beeping state.  I had the same problem, but it was because I didn't put the two prongs above the watch battery when I installed it.  Just make sure that once you power on the Pleo, you press the Noon Time button then, not before.

The prongs must fit over the battery. Be sure both of them fit.
BUT they aren't trying to touch the smaller contact of the battery.

It should look something like this (before you put on the cover):

The leg cover includes a graphic to show which way the + side of the battery fits. Good luck finding that on the batteries supplied.
For the record: Stupidest design in the universe.

cathy, you're not by any chance putting the long metal tab of the battery compartment over the top of the battery as well as the small metal tabs are you? I was having trouble with PleoRB repeatedly beeping until I realised my mistake and put the battery on top of the long metal tab instead of the other way around %)

If you still haven't got it working, post a pic of what your clock battery looks like inserted in the foot without the cover on and maybe we will be able to see if you are doing anything wrong. :)  I hope you have got it going.  I know just how frustrating it can be.
