Title: Pleo's magnetic tail - urban myth?
Post by: Crewella on November 19, 2010, 01:26:23 PM
I've noticed a few people mentioning a 'magnetic tail' in some of the Pleo listings on eBay UK.  One listing said the Pleo came with its 'magnetic tail', and a couple of others since have shown questions from potential buyers asking if the 'magnetic tail' was included, or functioning.  Anybody got any ideas as to how this started or what they might be referring to? :o :D

It's so you can stick Pleo on the fridge when you've finished playing with him of course :P

The listings will have completed by now - this was the most recent one with the mention in the Q&A at the bottom:

I think that the person who was selling that Pleo must be bonkers! I've never herd of such a thing and I'm sure it would have been mentioned here previously if it has a magnetic tail piece !

Googled it and nothing came up either. ???

I know!!  I'd have ignored it if I'd just seen it the once, but I've seen that mentioned three or four times now!  Maybe they're all reading it off each other's listings, and probably parents selling their kid's unwanted toys have no idea how they really function.  I just thought it was quite amusing that it seems to have snowballed! :P

when Ive had Cammey Cloey or Copper in here and their tail moved near the monitor (a flat screen) it seemed to change color where the tip of the tail was moving past.

Magnets will only affect LCD monitors not TFT.

I have found no magnetic field in the end of my Pleo's tails.
All a load of rubbish , magnetic tails lol  %)

I'm just doing that very thing at the moment, Gaz, though I really wasn't expecting to find any magnets!  It's fascinating - a real work of art under there! :D
