Today my gerbil, Susie, passed away :( I have had her for about 2 years, and I loved her very, very much. This thread is sort of a tribute to her. She lived a nice long (for a gerbil) life, eating tons and tons of sunflower seeds and peanuts, which she loved. I don't have many pictures of her because she was usually moving or at the bottom of her cage (It has 2 levels) where I can't see her.
Rest in piece, my dear, dear friend
The gerbil on the right is Peety, she died a while ago :'(

So sorry to hear about losing your little gerbil. They are adorable little pets. Even though they are illegal in California, my friend gave me two that she promised were females. WRONG! ;D I found that out after seeing five little itty bitty babies in their cage. From then on it was five itty bitty babies every five weeks. The male was adorable. What a great papa. He took care of the babies while she did her own thing (play) Really cute to see.

Thanks Fancy. I've seen videos of baby gerbils, and they really are adorable :D

FBS, so sorry to hear about your little dear one, I don't care if it is a cat, dog, horse, lamb, turtle, fish, mouse, rat, bird, or in your case a Gerbil, these are our little babies, to me all life is precious and we could learn a lot more about love by watching and taking lessons from our four legged , two legged, fur , fin, scales or feathered friends, :) I hate to admit it, but I get along way better with almost all animals or any sort than I do with people, except very young children who haven't formed judgements yet, and older persons who know what it is to live and want some dignity and love at the end of their lives.
Anyway, your pictures of Susi and video are a loving tribute to your dear friend, Little rodents just don't live long by our standards, but they put a lot of energy and life into that time, It is a lovely video that I will watch over again when it is quiet in my house. You can never replace Susi, and you shouldn't , you can get another Pet, but each pet is an individual and has their own relationship with you as you do to them. Cherish the memories you have of her and the times you spend, even just watching your friend, I know from talking to you and reading your posts, that you are a very very caring individual and have a unique relationship and understanding of animals in general that many people,( even as an adult,)never acheive, so be proud that you are one of the few special people who can understand these special little creatures. Thank you for posting the pictures and video of your baby Susi. ;) It made me remember my little Rat, Cinderella who passed on years ago.

That you so much RWM, that post made me feel alot better :) I agree, even if its an art farm or even a single ant as your pet they ARE your babies and love them no matter what. I actually get along with animals better than people too, I've felt a special connection with them ever since I was little. Every animal I see I just have to go up and pet/take a look at them. Susie definetely lived a full life, you should see her cage, she made tons and tons of tunnels out of simple toilet paper rolls we've given her :D I know nothing and no one could EVER replace Susie, but like a quote I love says "With death comes life" or in my case, a new friend in the household :) I know Susie is still a very happy gerbil, probably swimming in pools of sunflower seeds :P I am very proud of my connection with animals, whenever I get animals to trust me I always feel extremely proud because I know animals won't trust everyone they see (For example, a few days ago there was a lost lab in our backyard, and she ended up trusting me even though she was very scared) I'm sorry about Cinderella, I'm sure she lived a very happy life :) And thank you again for cheering me up with your post :)

It's always sad when an animal dies, but when a pet dies you're really losing a good friend and it does leave a big hole in your life. I'm sorry to hear about Susie, FBS, but at least you know you gave her a good and full life. And a proper little palace to live in by the looks of it! :hhug:
