Hi there,
today I played with Littlefoot and Cera after a little while again.
Littlefoot is having a couple of little holes in his skin and Cera seems to have problems with one of her frontlegs
plus having a huge hole in her neck :-( One little hole in her foot too but this one is not that serious.
What do I do now? Since they are both older than one year old (about 2 and almost 2)
I hope you have any suggestions for me. I am really sad right now :-(
Nadine
P.S. We live in Germany now if you need to know it ;-)

Hi, sorrry to hear about the tears, that is allways a problem it seems. Can you post a simple photo, that would help determine the best product or method for fixing the tear, is it on a seam, the one on the neck? If so, I think from my own experience with Nova, those on the seam of the neck are the easiest to fix, and they allso blend in very well, you can't tell they have even been fixed! Also, Bumblebee, has a store here on the Mall with products that you may be able to purchase and use to fix your Pleo, I don't know how much shipping is now if you live in Germany. Talk to her though and see, If it is too much for shipping, you can find ( I am sure... ;)) the same type product in Germany where you now live. Is Cera's foot hole on the bottom of bottom part of the foreleg? If so you can protect it temp, also by usng baby socks if you are not allready doing so.
Good luck with your Pleos!

Could you post some photos? That would really help and with the leg have you tried manually straitening it, it might be stuck from not being used for so long.
(You have to remember that Pleo's are machines and machines generally don't like to sit unused for a long time, especially since we can't give our Pleo's a drop of oil or anything to help.)

I got Cera's foot fixed. It seems to really just got stuck because of her long brake ;D
BUT here are the more serious problems....
This is her tear in her neck...

What do you think? Is that fixable?
-
My neck is to making some small scratched like the last picture, but it's nothing near you!
-
Hmm I'd hate to sound awfully unsympathetic, however I do not think the skin tearing/cosmetics is fixable by our means. I think the best solution is the cape for you. Sold on pleoworld. However if you cannot absolutely bear with the skin tears I know for fact Innvo will take $100 off for a new one. I assume you'd have to send the old ones back. Sorry I could not be of more assistance...
-
Actualy if you are fan of pleoworld on Facebook you can get 50% off a new Pleo.....
-
$50 not 50% :) And that offer expired a while back :(
Did you store your Pleo's in the sleep position? If you did then in future please store them in the packing position. I don't think those holes are repairable BUT you do have a couple of options for the neck and tail, you can wrap a very small bandage and a small amount of tape over the area just to cover it and hide it OR you can try using a very small amount of rubber to patch it, the problem is that no one has tried this and Pleo is made from a special rubber. You would need to find something soft and stretchy and use a glue that is safe on rubber.
-
IS IT EXPIRED?! darn! I was hoping for buying a cheap new Pleo...... :(
-
Yeah it did expire, they said it a while back. There was a discount in the last newsletter but I think that might have expired too ??? There's usually one each month or so though so keep an eye out :)
-
All right....I'll keep an eye out.....or two! :o

It's not the best solution, but I "fixed" a number of tears like those on the tail and neck on Bob. WHat I did was move the neck/tail until the skin at the tears is touching (looks like no tear) and then without moving the neck/tail pulled the skin back just a bit, put a bead of super glue gel on one side, pushed the skin back together and smoothed out the glue on the outside.
This sealed the tear, but you can still see the dried glue and the glue dries hard, not flexible. Doesn't work on a big hole, but I did this to five or six tears on both the neck and tail. Looks better than the tears.

LIKE DEGERS SAID, Superglue does work, but make sure to get the right kind of superglue, they make two types, for porous and non porous, make sure it says for Rubber on it,also try on a very small area first to make sure it is ok, I do not know how well it works on holes but on seams it worked very well, at least on Nova it did, NOva had a small tear on her Neck Seam, under her chin so it was also hidden, A very very small bead of superglue and pinching the seam together and Viola, she looks as good as she did the day I got her, you can not even see where the seam was.
I do not know about holes I think they are going to be a lot more tricky and I do think clothes are probably the best option for holes if you are not sure of how good the glue process may work for you. Good luck with what ever you decide to try and do.And as IMR stated, by al means, do not let your pleo sleep in the sleeping position for any extended lenght of time, it is very bad for the neck and tail joints and skin holes and seams seem to start this way too much stretching of the skin. I have never noticed any super glue issues, personally..Unlike some of the other owners, I suppose I have been lucky. It has been a general positive experience for myself. When using it extremely conservatively, it is very helpful. I would strongly recommend using the smallest amount possible, and always adding to it, if needed be. Just yesterday I used The Original Super Glue Gel to re-glue all of Sophie's seams back in to place. It worked wonders. Yes it might be noticeable that the seams are not as tight as a newborns, but still you can't really tell I super glued it! I noticed to prevent the dried glue look and also preventing the 'hardness' of how it sets, I quickly [and while still wet and setting] pinched along the seam to produce flexibility. Yes only in certain places did this pull apart the seams, and also cracked the remaining seams, but I was able to re glue and again pull at the seams to finally reach desired elasticity. Yes I will still need to re-layer, however the point is that it holds very, very well. In the past, and with all the dinos through the years I have super glued all small tears in the skin with several different brands of super glue. They have all been positive experiences. Just please be as conservative as possible, as you DO NOT want the super glue to reach the skeleton.
For last night's super glue, we used this http://www.supergluecorp.com/super-glue/-original-super-glue/super-glue-gel-0
EDITED TO ADD:: ANYONE KNOW HOW TO REMOVE SUPER GLUE FROM YOUR FINGERS?? :P

Blowtorch and orbital sander!
Great for removing the super glue, flesh, and bones. ;)
(Please don't try this at home.... we're professionals.)

Of course Gucci, just dip 'em in a pot of acid, preferably hydrochloric, and not the watered down stuff of course %) Removes your fingerprints (and your fingers) as an added bonus :D
(Definitely DO NOT try that at home... it stains the carpet.)

Soaking in nail polish remover. ;)
-
Well thanks Fancyfont...for being the only non smart arse! LOL Luckily after a few days it kinda deteriorated. ROFL at Mweed and InmemoryofRomeo....hate to ask what to do when I get a hang nail!
-
LOL
I usually just peel it off, but it does disappear after a while :)
Now about that hang nail...
-
Quuuuuuuiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeeeeet!!!!! LOL yah they just kinda went away, plus my slight picking...however my aunt did suggest nail polish remover..however for obvious reasons, I do not own any nail polish remover. :P
Hey how are the holes in the skin and the leg not going back into the straight position? I'd like to hear how this Pleo is coping! Perhaps we could help you out a little better on the injured pleo forum: http://bobthepleo.com/forums/index.php?topic=1413.msg19575#msg19575
I'm not sure of what yet, but if you are planning on sticking with Pleo, you might be able to use us for some support.
Best Of Luck!
