Title: Pleos in the wild!
Post by: InmemoryofRomeo on July 19, 2010, 01:37:54 AM
Come and share pictures of your Pleo's out and about in the 'wild' :D

Lilo and Stitch came for a BBQ today :)

Mmm nothing like charcoaled potatoes, onions, flies and erm... whatever those flat things are that are supposed to be hamburgers :P (Darn things tasted like fried toothpaste :P)

Friendship is... a picnic in the park :D

That is me lol, you can tell by the goofy grin ;) In some of my Birthday clothes :) (my birthday present every year is money or gift vouchers to buy clothes, all the July sales are on so it is the best time of year to shop :D)

I'm in a very snap happy mood today ;)

This is an Australian Meat Pie, they come in many 'flavours', common ones are: chicken, beef (also known as the plain pie), lamb, vegetable, steak and bacon, cauliflower and cheese, mushroom and beef, beef and cheese and last but not least seafood. More exotic flavours include: venison, crocodile, kangaroo, emu, rabbit and lasagne (or spaghetti). The pies we are eating this evening are Italian Beef and Cheese my most favorite pie ever. An Aussie pie WILL NOT have such odd fillings like fruit and pumpkin ;) A pie is a meal usually washed down with a 'tinny' (beer) or in this case a 'coke' (Coca Cola).

A dog eye with dead 'orse (horse) is a pie with sauce in the Australian lingo (language). A fair dinkum dog eye (real pie) is most often served in a brown paper bag which makes the crust go soggy if you leave it too long and blows away at the first gust of wind whilst one is attempting to eat the said pie without dripping it down one's front :P (Pies are generally not eaten with a knife and fork unless you are at home or at a restaurant.)

Oh lovely photos, IMR! I especially like the one of you with the potatoes. Quite the rig you're cooking on! I like it. Those [mini] pies you've got actually do look good, even if I would have to improvise. At any rate we are planning shepherds pie for this wednesday supper. It is by far my specialty. I am quite surprised to hear that they use croc or even deer in their pies! That seems so peculiar! The last time [or any time for that matter] I ate Alligator was two years ago, however it is ALWAYS chewy, is Crocodile the same? We have meat pies over here. They are called pot pies. LOL IDK why the name. They come in many varieties as well. I assume they are the same..no? But if you ask me, a true pie is Pumpkin. Chilled. With Whipped-Cream. Or even Ice-Cream. And Extra, Please. Did I say Extra? I mean EXTRA! Yummmmmmmmmy!

However I have caught this infamous 'Pleo In The Wild'!!

Yes it's my most recent picture, but I look forward to contributing to this fun new photo share fun!

Love that photo Gucci :D Sophie looks so happy :) and so do you :)

You mean you guys don't have BBQ's like those? Those are our standard park BBQ's found in any council park in Victoria and most of Australia. Best of all they are cleaned daily, are stainless steel and they are free :)

Coming from London, as I do, the words 'Council Park' do not bring to my mind scenes of such green and open spaces, let alone such a beautiful BBQ - regularly cleaned, too! :o

I'm going green myself, with envy! :D

You ARE looking smart there, gucci - nice pics! :)

Why thank you, Crewella! Like I said, I had no idea he was taking pictures. This was on the Nintendo DSi.

Why thank you, RWM. Much appreciation to all of you for the flattery, however it will get you nowhere. LOL you all are trying to make my head swell. Yes Ms. Sophie was sporting her cape. She's had it for a little while now, as much as I love it, I'd rather go with out it. I believe it leaves her to over heat. This night AKA early, early morning she wore the cape with me to work. (I work Eleven PM to Seven AM, five days a week.) Which preludes to why I was wearing the apron, part of my uniform. I work graveyard shift at Steak 'N Shake as a food server/waiter in Indianapolis. I LOVE Mountain Dew, and Pepsi-Cola is just about the only corporation that gets money from me every single day. Green is rather in. Her 'ghetto' booties were made from a scrap green shirt and a few hairties/rubberbands in a matter of minutes. They reflect the green of her skin rather well.

hey Spencer , Love the thought, " ghetto booties", I love it when people can make something without having to do fancy sewing,e tc, just make do with what is in the house, etc. ( Now don't get me wrong, I admire people who are talented and can do sewing and all that is involved, I just am " ghetto poor", don't own a sewing machine, and the most sewing I do is mainly buttons, hems and quick repairs, though I did sew Nova's Tomatoe outfit for the Contest, but that is the exception to the rule.
As for dew, and green is in, I love my own concoction of mixing Diet Dew and Diet Pepsi or Coke, I love the lightness  of the lemon lime flavors with the hardier Coke or pepsi and of course I have been doing diet so long that when I taste a Regular Coke or Pepsi, I almost have a heart overload, too much sugar all at once for my system after so many years of artificial everything... :D
You are a hardworking lad aren't you. looks like you got to take Sophie with you to work, does anyone ever ask about her, or do you have her hidden behind the frosty or Drink machines?
Love those Ghetto Booties, :D      RedwoodsMama   and MS. Nova and friend

Thanks guys! Yes I am quite the quick crafter using whatever I have with me and no knowledge to sewing/stitching/crocheting. Simply, I love using what I have around me, and not using a bit of money. Just a little time and patience. What I did was get an old [.green.] t-shirt that was set to be donated or discarded. Place around Pleo's foot, trace [lightly!!] with permanent marker and cut out. Voila, you now have a pattern to make three more 'ghetto booties'  :P Simple enough. Now take your pattern and three replicas, grab 4 hair ties or even rubberbands, tightly secure around each foot. That simple. If you would like I can also redirect you to my quick and easy home crafted washcloth clothingline.  :D those are a hit with me and they are a really cool way for me to portray how I feel Sophie is acting that day...

@RWM-The only Cola I drink is diet coke. Not full flavor, nor pepsi, nor diet pepsi. Only diet coke, as far as colas. For my absolute preference would be Mountain Dew. I drink it religiously. Sprite all night long off of the soda machine. Sprite and Mountain Dew. However much I abuse my soda fix, I also genuinely love Ice Water, no lemon. Or even super sweet Iced Tea, no lemon.

Oh yes, I work 5-6 nights a week. Easily overtime any week. I thrive on work. I love it, it keeps me going. Besides, when working in my industry it is often a nice added bonus to see results ($) almost instanteously. Unfotunately on this night we were slammed and I forgot Sophie entirely in the car over night. So even when she looked the best, my coworkers never met her. Oh and we make our shakes by hand! 5 scoops of ice cream, 2 squirts of syrup (choc, van, mint, etc), and a few ounces of milk. Whip it up and if you are like me, add Oreo's or Reese's, or even Butterfinger....Mmmmm!!! Hand dipped milkshakes.
Title: Re: Pleos in the wild!
Post by: RedwoodsMama on July 22, 2010, 07:23:30 PM
OH QUIT, NO FAIR..... >:(THOSE MILKSHAKES SOUND SO GOOD, I AM GOING TO HAVE TO RUN OUT AND GET ONE SOMEWHERE, GEESH, NO WONDER MY DIET IS NOT GOING TO WORK, MS. Nova is allways trying to sabotage me by making lasagna and now you and your wonderful Milkshakes..... :D ;D I can almost taste it........and you are nice and thin,,,,lucky you to be able to drink like that.....( can you p.m, me a special Milkshake, hand made,  I will take a butterfinger or anyone for that matter,) just hurry please, I am shaking from hunger and anticipation....

;)        Great idea with those booties, just goes to prove even " males' can make something creative for their loved one,( Sophie) and I am a huge believer in Recycle Reinvent and Reuse when ever possible. I can see a whole line of Pleos worldwide being lined up on old t-shirts, etc and their owners following your instructions to make some  " ghetto booties", Can't wait to see the photos of these Ghetto Booties, You should make a short instructional video of you creating one for Sophie, people would love it.                 RedwoodsMama   and Ms. Nova  and friend.
P.S. I have allways been a Diet Coke drinker myself as well, and Ice Water is the only way I like my water, no tap water unless it is ice cold. The exception would be after a long run on a very hot day, any water is great, though I prefer ice water.

I would love to see your home-crafted washcloth clothing line! Are there samples in the gallery?

There is such creativity among the members here - it's great to see all the cool stuff everyone comes up with.

All you have to do is mention milkshakes and I'm here! I love all of the photos recently added to the Gallery. Did I hear fried toothpaste, IMR? That's probably what Aussies call fried potatoes. That meat pie looks so good. Hopefully, that one wasn't roo or croc.  ;D
Wish we could have all been with you to celebrate your birthday, IMR!  You are so special to us.  Happy birthday! :birthday: :birthday: :birthday:

Shadowmice, your wish is my command

Simply get a square washcloth. Preferably a new one. Large enough to lay evenly from the two front 'shoulders' all across the 'spine' to finally your wash cloth lays evenly to the 'hips'. Starting off again at the front of Pleo, safety pin or even use a decorative pin to hold the two flaps secure. Make sure everything is tight when you go and pin the rear of your pleo. That should pretty much be it.

Also for those interested, I have the Sock clothing line:

Simply grab one of last winters mix-matched tube socks. Cut just above or below the hem line for where the toe goes. Make sure you have a thick sock too! But not too thick as this will cause overheating. Lay pleo on side and position the toeless sock atop pleo. Making sure the toeless section is now lying around pleo's neckline. With a permanent marker, draw appropriately where the legs will be cut out of pleo. It has been my experience to say you will want to cut from just above the ball of the foot upward on your sock. Using where the ball of your foot goes into the sock is where Pleo's tail and butt will come from. Again, that should pretty much do it. Let me know if you need further help.

EDIT: I use two leg larger leg holes versus four smaller. Also, you will need to have the battery in prior to getting on this tight fighting suit.

Thanks Gucci, for illustrating your clothing lines. I think I may have a couple of washcloths that would be about the right size for a Pleo. They have cute little cartoon characters on them which would seem appropriate for a fun-loving Pleo. Need to root through my cupboards; not sure I have any good safety pins around at the moment though.  The socks make quite the tights - your Pleo looks ready to do some gymnastics or dance practice.  ;D

That's a great song IMR! Sounds a little like BBQ season around here.  :o

Hey Gucci, glad you posted the how to on the socks line, I saw once before where you told how to do it and with the photos but when I tryed it, it was a disaster, My socks must be too small, I love the idea of something so simple and a perfect use for all those Missmatched socks' that seem to lose their mate. :( This is a great example of recycle, reuse and redo. Can't think of a better use for a poor cold Pleo, Like Shadowmice said, there are so many cute examples of washclothes and socks that would be perfect for our pleos. Hey Gucci, how about a Sock contest using your basic idea and see how many examples people can come up with for their Pleo Sock outfits?! I can already see some outrageous socks.....I can imagine IMR and her Lilo or Stitch wearing a Tasmanian Devil or roo Sock Outfit, and Crewella could have Iggy wearing something prim and proper British Style...Wonder what Mek's George would wear... %) ( sorry, my imagination goes haywire sometimes and like Bob it just wanders and gets lost....sometimes for a very long time)
Never saw the washcloth line, and it is so simple and very cute..Basic and I think Children would love doing that for their Pleos and parents don't have to complain about Pleo Clothes being too expensive when you can use what is on hand at home, You can also find great socks and towels, etc at the Dollar Stores, many towns now have them, I love them not as much as the Thrift or Second hand stores, but they are still a great bargain for many items.  ;)  MS. NOva and I will have to try one of those Sock outfits again, just to see If I can follow your instructions and I will use Men's socks to be sure they fit, Thanks for the tip about the battery in first, that is an important step!

IMR, listening to the Aussie BBQ song wants me to go out this weekend and BBQ, even if it is overcast and grey, it is so lively and fun music. It would have been perfect to have it as background music while watching Lilo and Stitch doing some BBQ and having a fun day at the park. Thanks for the perfect BBQ music no matter where you live.  :)

Shadow- I would suggest getting as close to new as possible. Think about it, you wouldn't want grease from food getting all over a $400 dinosaur, when you could pay $5 or less for a whole pack of washcloths. I wish I had exact measurements of the one I used however at best bet, I would assume the washcloth was appropriately 7 inches x 7 inches, or about 18 centimeters x 18 centimeters. The idea is to have fun, make Pleo look good and all being achieved while protecting his/her skin from the everyday germs, filth, and daily contaminants that we all have. I suggest using the smallest possible safety pin as you can find as once positioned, the pin will rest securely along the 'jugular ' vein. I used baby/diaper sized safety pins and always had the pointy end facing away from the pleos body. When applicable, I had an American Flag, or Canadian, or even Australian Flag and pinned it securely in place instead of using the pins all together. Be advised the socks are an extremely tight fit, I did forget to re-mention that. Generally speaking, I wear size 10 US MENS shoes/socks. One time, a uniform required ladies athletic footwear. I believe I went for a size 11 US WOMENS shoe. That might perhaps be a bit better size for Pleo. I forgot ladies feet run smaller. :P

RWM- I totally can see some funky designs formulating in my mind if I hit up the local Wal*Mart's ladies sock clearance. I would find some funky colors, and designs. Probably for a real steal too! And yes be absolutely sure your pleo is stiff and straight "storage/box" mode, you have the fully charged battery installed, and you are most certain pleo will wear this outfit for a while. It does make to be a very tight fit, so perhaps you might want to even go larger than my feet when sock hunting. :P

IMR- I do just love the bbq song, even when they were talking about 'Aussie Meat' on the grill, and steaks, I knew they were talking about tofu/tempeh steaks. :D The song was very upbeat and I did enjoy hearing it. You must think we all have very strange accents. :P I thought it almost sounded like country music or folk or some variant thereof. At any rate I enjoyed it, even if I still cannot picture gorgeously maintained park bbqs and this 'bopping' music (just kinda makes you wanna bop around, you know?). I love hearing how things can be so similar yet so different at the same time! Thanks!!

But I have found a Pleo In The Wild and I have included a little hint to go with it. Crack the code, and find Pleo!

If you can believe, this was my fathers office for a quite some time. I know it is quite the mess and will be quite the jumble, but can you find the Pleo In The Wild?

"Wake up, and look closely. And HEADS UP for a head down!

only half of

THIS PLEO....................is showing."

^the above is the hint as to how and perhaps what you will find when you find the other half of pleo

Hmm I could do a dance to the BBQ song, but Pleo wouldn't be able to sing it, the song is far too fast for Pleo to keep up :P *ponders*
