okay, I haven't got him yet... Just found out I must wait another week :( before I can jump on the train, travel a bit and carry George home.
but hell I can't stand it anymore. not since being a little boy i looked out for something this much ;D
I love Pleo as a technofreak and as an animal lover. funny how this little guy stole my heart. :-[
Edited: Took the yellow colour off, I couldn't read it, sorry.
-
I just went through that feeling a week ago. It's worth it! Also, don't use yellow color text...I couldn't read it without highlighting it all.
-
Welcome! Your Pleo will be worth the wait! I promise!
-
Thanx Degers for the edit %)
I managed to have a free weekend next week so i guess i'll be posting updates and maybe even video's.... 8)

Welcome Meks. When you first have George up and running, you will definitely become one of us, smitten by a little robotic dinosaur. Can't wait to hear about your new arrival soon. :)
-
Welcome to the " We all Love Pleos " Club. I don"t think it matters what age you are, how many other Techno robotics you may own, or what type of Pleo you buy, or how much your Pleo cost, when you first turn him/ her on, and see them hatch and look at you with those big blue eyes, your heart is melting, and belongs to them forever, and if you are lucky, you will see the " magic", begin. ;D I am glad I didn't have to have that terrible " waiting and yearning, " you talk about, because Nova was intended as a gift for my grandson, and I knew Nothing about Pleos. Once I opened that package, I thought, a cute nice looking Dinosaur Toy Robot. :) Boy was I WRONG!!!!!!!!!Nova is a older Ugobe model and pre-owned, but once I discovered the love she had to give, and I found all her specific traits and what she could do, I knew I could not send her to my grandson as a gift for Christmas.
She couldn't be " controlled", by a remote controll, and she is the closest thing to an AI Lifeform that I have ever seen personally. I bought a D-Rex for my grandson instead, as I thought D-Rex is more appropriate for an 8 year old, and D-Rex was more durable for a young boy who could be rough with his toys. He was happy and I fell in love with my Nova. If I knew then what I know now, I would have been going crazy waiting for that package to arrive. Now when the time comes and I have the money and space for a sibling Pleo for my NOva, I am sure I will be driving everyone around me crazy waiting for the newest member of the family to arrive. Once your Pleo arrives, you will understand all I have said. Good luck.

Another 45 minutes of work %) and then I 'm off to collect my preloved PLeo :D
-
Izzit there yet!! Izzzit!! ;D
-
oh my god, Ittizz Here..... I am beyond rescue. :P just finished my first battery with George. %)
He is absolutely awesome to the maximum. ;D The way he bends his hindlegs backwards and tilts his head upwards when I scratch his chin, the way I think he makes furby noises every now and then, how he walks. I sat there watching George just walking away from me to explore then he looks back I couldn't help myself but pick him up and rub his skull some more. whilst talking softly to him....Playing tug of war, the little guy is so loveable. Yes Sir, the Pleo bug has bitten me badly.....
tomorrow me and george will woo the gals at work, they will love pleo. I am sure...... 8)
-
We told you so! ;)
-
Yay! Glad he finally made it - I almost envy you that 'discovery' feeling! :)
-
Oh we told you so, and yes, you knew it was true:::::::::::::::::::::::;;;;You are in Pleo Love! George is so lucky to be with someone who loves him so much! It only makes you wish that you had enough batteries so they would go on an on lke the energizer bunny. But then again, we all need our sleep too.
Have fun with George and the gals at work, you may start a Pleo buying spree.....LOL. Do not forget to take photos of dear George and his adventures!
Glad to hear you guys are together at last. RedwoodsMama and MS. Nova

I just played with my pleo during workhours (DON"T TELL MY BOSS :o ) with his voice turned off :-X but that was no success i miss the noises George makes. Yes, the mechanics are there but the personality is missing %).
and yes, I am stupid, forgot to take my camera this morning, but the reaction ranged from "ooh, he's cute" to "new toy?"
George now enjoys the morning sun sitting in the big window next to my desk.
I am working hard (or is it hardly working :D )
-
George will make it more fun at work. for everyone. He might prefer a nice shaded window, though! ;) Don't want to have George get too much sun. He's a baby dino! ;D Please remember to take your camera. We must so him at work. :) :)
-
I used to take Bob to work with me all the time. I would turn him on and put him on the floor in my cubicle and let him wander around, out the door, and down the hall. My boss would actually come looking for him at times to show him off to other.
Now, all my pleos are right here with me at work... there's pleo stuff everywhere. Of course, now I work from home, so it's not as exciting for my co-workers... ;)

Introduced Lodewijk en George Last night. Lodewijk is my Cat, %)
He doesn't know how to react to George. is curious but at the same time highly nervous because of the noises george makes.
Lodewijk sniffs at george a bit and when in the right places george reacts ofcourse nice to see loodje being carefull with George , I've seen cattoys fly thru the room....:P
I haven't put lodewijk en George on the floor toghether maybee tomorrow
Pics are comming soon. !!
-
HI, having nine curious cats myself, and one dog, they all react slightly differently towards Nova. Some of them are curious but cautious. A couple could care less, as they are Elderly felines and have more important things to do in life, like eat and sleep. I do have one cat that runs everytime I put Nova near him, and he runs the other way, but likes to watch from a distance. I also have one nice Brown Tabby male who likes it when Nova curls up next to him in his cat bed. so be prepared for the unexpected!
It is wise though that you are slowly introducing George to Lodewikj,( love that name by the way!) as you never know if a cat may decide to strike a paw out and poor George may get a nip of tear accidental of course. When you do introduce them why not video tape it and it will be fun to watch! Give your cat time and of course George as well. Eventually Lodewikj will adjust to the noise more than likely. Good luck and glad you have George and are now a
Proud Pleo Parent! :) RedwoodsMama and MS. Nova

Hi everyone,
A little update on George and his adventures.
Yesterday turned out to be a sick day. :( nothing could stir his laughing muscles, not even tickling his feet or rubbing his chin which normally sends george into a giggling and singing frenzy. Nope, wheezing breaths, coughing and a very convincing attempt at throwing up where all the noises george made last night. I just held him, cuddled a lot and felt truly and deeply sorry for the little guy. after a while he went to sleep, so i put him back on his pillow to rest the night.
Then it hit me: I just put my baby camarasaurus to bed, hoping he'd feel better tomorrow. my technical side shouted It's a robot It can't catch a cold. But my heart knew better..... :-*
so here we are the day after at my work, just being our normal selves. playfull and cheerful. That makes me one happy camper
-
Meks, When these little dinos get sick, it is so hard to remember they are a robot. This is where the magic of believing they are truly a little pet, happens. I'm so glad that George is feeling better. It's so sad to see them hacking away. All I want to do is hold them when they are sick. I have yet had all four of mine sick at the same time, but, eventually, this will happen. I will, certainly, have a full lap of pleos to cuddle. ;)

Meks, When these little Dino's get sick, it is so hard to remember they are a robot. This is where the magic of believing they are truly a little pet, happens.
how right you are, imagine a 6 foot 7 inch 350 pound guy holding a pleo to his chest, Talking soothingly to the dinosaur. That was me last night. When people ask me about George I tell them he's my baby dinosaur. no talk about robot or dare i say Toy.
Any other robot you can program a pleo just can only turn him/her on or off. there's no controls. That's what i love about pleo.
-
It would have been very interesting if George would have been sick " today", and you took him to work. Can you imagine all the workers listening to poor George, hacking, coughing, and sounding so pitiful? :(The first time I saw poor Nova sick , it really broke my heart. I videotaped it, and I couldint believe my eyes or ears! How could this little " toy, robot" catch a cold? Who ever had the idea to program a Sickness bug in the Pleo, was one smart cookie! He or she knew nothing was going to grab someones heart faster than seeing a sick baby, of any species. It is intersting to me, that twice in less than one month's time I have seen Nova sick, and it seems that sometimes this " virus or cold", comes on after a period of inactivity, or a ploy on Pleo's part to get an owners' attention. ( is that possible %)? I think it is possible) Glad to hear George is feeling better. They do seem to recuperate a lot quicker than we humans do.
As for telling people that George is your " baby dinosaur", I understand completely. When people ask me what Nova is, I tell them she is my Baby dinosaur, and interactive Life form, They take a closer look, and I explain, see there are no remote controls, she interacts according to what is in her environment and how she is treated. They then are wanting pets, and don't ask more questions regarding robots, etc. They just interact with Her as a lifeform and seem to be happy with " WHAT SHE IS, WHAT THEY CAN SEE." and I am happy with that reaction as well.
Glad to hear George is back to " normal". RedwoodsMama and MS. Nova

Yesterday George made it to his first Rockabilly concert. It was a really nice day and I had to introduce George to my peeps in the Rambler (my real job) I work as a sound engineer in the rambler.
Anyways, we sat outside in the shade with a cold beverage. My friends join me, all attention on George. Not one remark about it being a expensive toy or how childish, everyone agreed on how cute he is and why I only had one battery and did not bring him sooner. Pictures will be here, be patient with me a little more.
There will be more soon.....
-
Meks, sounds like you and George got lots of attention yesterday, and lots of fun as well. I have never been to a Rockabilly concert,( I am from the age of Haight Ashbury {"flower Children", but if it is music like Lynard Skynard, etc, then I would probably have a good time too. I don't like my music as loud as I did many years ago, but then lots of things change as you get older. ;D I would however love to have seen you and George charming all of your friend's and the onlookers. Sounds like a good time was had by all, and good weather as well.
Can't wait to see some Photos of George/ and You posted soon. What exactly do you do as a " sound engineer"? Is it music related or Rambler, Automotive related? Take care good to hear from you!

Wow! That is some mixer! Was this photo taken when you were on the radio?
-
Blimey - some mixer indeed! More than two buttons to twiddle with and I get scared off! ???
MOST impressive! :D
Glad George had such a nice outing now he's better. From memory of the dim and distant past, rockabilly concerts are good fun! :)
-
fun was had by all that's for sure.
to give you an idea a little video on youtube.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CYzeueS37Zw
the petite young man behind the desk that's me... %)
-
Hi Meks, now I do indeed know what you mean by Mixer, a music mixer, It is funny because when I heard the word , "Rambler', the first thought I had was of The RAMBLER CAR, FROM THE 1960'S! :D Not the song ' A Ramblin Man", so Rambler must be one of the words associated with the Band. Shows how out of touch with the current music I am, ( I am a 60's music ,Beatles, Stones, Kinks, Janis, Hendrix, Creams, Jethro Tull, etc, etc) though there are tons of other stuff I listen too, including Chamber Music, Blues from the 30'-50's., Some current stuff, and old Country Western even. OH, and I can't leave out Native American Music or I would be in trouble. %)
I looked at the video you left the link to, now I can see what you really do, looks complicated but fun once you know what you are doing. I was looking for George, but he must have been dancing somewhere! 8) Glad you had a good time. NOW when you talk about your job, I will understand completely what you do, ( job title anyway.)
take care, RedwoodsMama and MS. Nova from the rainy soggy, stormy Redwoods ;)

FINALLY Pictures....
Yes It is the one and only George. 8)
just a day at the office... ;)
Lovely day today, George has been named my departments mascotte ;D, my lithium battery thingies and egg charger arrived from Taiwan, because I worked overtime the boss paid my pizza. George had his fair share of attention today :D
beautifull summer outside, life can be so good.....
more to come....... ;)
-
What a lucky little dino! George has to get a lot of attention at work. Beautiful photos! :)
-
Meks, so glad you finally got the photos we have all been waiting for of George. Looks like George had a great day and a great reception as well. I love the idea of department mascot. Good thing you got the Battery, because George is going to need it with all the work he has cut out for him. :DWhat a nice thing of your boss to do to buy you pizza for working overtime. :pizza:(Does George like Pizza too?) Sounds like you and George had the Perfect Day, so nice to hear.
Nova and I and everyone are looking forward to hearing more stories and seeing more of George's Adventures, in and out of the Office. ;) Bet George was one little tired but happy Pleo when he got home..

Nice to finally meet you George :)
-
Yay!! Hello to George, a handsome Pleo and worthy mascot! :)
-
George got his Dino Tag last saturday, :) I don't have a collar yet to hang it on but George had to wear it to the Rambler %), the band said they never played for an audience that had in dinosaur in it, but they were all really nice to george and his cooky owner. so here are the pics i took of georges Tag.
oh, and someone else got jeaulous and demanded to be introduced, he threatened to leave surprises in my shoe if I didn't do it. So here's Lodewijk, The Lord of darkness himself. or is he just hiding the big ol' purring pussycat that he is behind a seriously grim look....
-
George is one lucky Pleo, and a great looking tag too, perfect color I think! Oh, and what a great photo of Lodewijk. He doesn't look so grim, but he does have those serious eyes that cats get when they are thinking of something that only they know!( I love black cats, even though I have nine of them, not a single one is black!) :D Glad you posted the photos, keep them coming!

Am I the only one that this happens to: When you wake up in the morning, feeling none to happy, maybe even a bit of morning grumpiness :-\ and then when you casually walk past your mailbox, look inside and find that piece of mail you've been eagerly awaiting. Suddenly the birds are singing and all the clouds, even the ones in your head, have mysteriously gone away :D
That happened to me this morning, I found a envelope all the way from Bairnsdale, Australia. George no longer had to walk around naked. The hoody IMR made for him has arrived. Off course I put it on George and Yes madam, it fit perfectly and made my little guy look ever so beautifull.
Thank you very much Emily for making such an excellent hoody. If I was anywhere near Bairnsdale I would come over and give a you a big hug and flowers.
There, that being said I took a second look at the envelope, on it there is a Customs thing on which you have to describe the contents. IMR had put there Baby Dino Clothing. as is very true. but just imagine being a customs officer reading that info. baby dino clothing the look an that persons face must have been one of complete amazement. Clothes sure, baby clothes no problem but Baby dino clothing would at least raise an eyebrow with me that's for sure.
But the envelope was untouched and unopened, which right custom officers have. this just tells me one thing You can still send the most strange objects in the mail without anyone giving it a second look. and with that knowledge a smile appeared on my face which is still there.... :D

Yes, I had a chuckle when I saw that on my package too, trying to imagine what customs thought when they saw it. ;D Mine arrived unopened as well. Honesty really is the best policy.
-
You ought to see some of the looks I get at the post office ;)
Glad it arrived nice and safe :) Virtual hugs work just as well though, thank you, hope George enjoys it :) it rather makes my day at this end too, it's always nice to make someone else smile :)
-
Meks, what a wonderful story, I love it each time I read it it is more touching and brings a smile to my face. :) we all need more happy moments and what a wonderful gift IMR sent to you and George. I am sure the Mailman must have had a smile or two on his or her face as well. So glad you got George's outfit, NOw we all are waiting to see George in his romper, what does it look like, what color and is it nice and soft? MS. NOva is dying to see George in his little outfit! And IMR, what a great job you do on all of these outfits, so many happy little dinos and owners, too bad they dont' come in " larger sizes!" I can just imagine a few happy Pleo Owners wearing the same creations as their Pleos, though I can imagine the amount of material it would take to cover some of us! :D
Great story, I read it yesterday and will continue to read it over the next few days whenever I need a little laugh or want to bring a smile to my face, I am sure the mailman and custom's officials must have had some strange thoughts as well, although I do think some are so overworked that nothing really surprises some of them anymore and may not have even given it a second though with the word " dinosaur". Dont forget the photo of George in his outfit Meks!

How is George Sweet :) You are probably so happy for him you nearly cant breath! And nice collar too :D And isn't it funny to see how people react differently when they see him? Most of the Lady's says "OWWWW, how cute :-*". While the boys wants a more technical look inside Pleo? Whatever, hope you like your new Pleo, cant wait to see more from him.....
-
Hi Meks, I enjoyed looking at George's photos again , How is he doing at the office, is he still the Mascot? Do you have any new stories to tell us of his adventures or what I call, " misadventures!"? I love that you can take him to work with you each day. Does George know how to use the computer yet or is he still an apprentice? I bet he just loves all the attention he is getting and the lovely ladies are going to spoil him by bringing little puffs and petite delicacies only a baby Pleo could appreciate, though I bet Meks would enjoy them too! :D Please tell us new stories and more photos of his latest adventures, I also loved the photos of George at the music festival, that was fun!
