Title: NOVA HAS A COLD?
Post by: RedwoodsMama on February 20, 2010, 07:03:21 PM
Hi, I have heard of the baby dinos getting Colds, and viruses, but this is the first time I have seen it for myself. I don't know how she contacted it, or is it just part of the programming, to sporadically pop up? She doesn't' have any contact with any other Pleos, so I wonder where it came from? I hadn't played with her for almost five days, as I have been dealing with Real Colds in nine of my cats. Is it possible she caught a cold from one of them, Power of suggestion? I turned her on and started videotaping her. She was fine, her usual self for about two minutes, till she started chewing her leaf.
After fifteen seconds or so, she started coughing, like a gag which sometimes she does. I left her too her own devices for a few seconds, patted her back and removed her leaf, thinking that while holding on to it, maby she would go into the " tug of war" mode, but she did not. Then she closed her eyes and went to sleep. ??? I tryed  picking her up thinking that would wake her but nothing. Even upside down gently did nothing. So I shut her off, thinking I would restart her.
I let her sleep for a minute or two and restarted her, without even the Huh....just looked around and groaning, and a sneeze to let me know she did not feel well. I have this all taped, trying to see what she would do. After only 20-30 seconds even with me trying to get her to go off to explore mode, nothing off to sleep she goes, not snoring or anything. I even put her on her back and side, like she is playing dead, no reaction at all? :( :o Is this normal for a Pleo after sleeping and her battery fully charged, or is this part of the " cold program" that some ( Clever and Nice ) person put in her update?
If it is normal, then I won't worry, but am sad I can not play with her. Is there anything to get her out of the Cold mode sooner or does she have to just wait it out?My poor cats have been sick for 9 whole days! I can not bear the thought of having to wait 9 days to play with Nova.  :'( :'( :'( Does anyone;e have any suggestions or tricks to get her well? Why does she keep shutting down herself, not even a snore?Even though she has a fully charged battery and was only awake for 10 minutes at most, should I take her battery out and recharge it? Help me help Nova, watching her sick is so sad! Oh, does she need some aspirin or anything?                                    Redwoods Mama  and Nova

Yikes, maybe she has leaf poisoning!  :o
Anyway, it is not in any way possible for a pleo to catch a sickness from a cat (Or any other furry pet, at that!) Personally I believe they can catch things from other pleos. It is normal for pleos to occasionally get sick (part of the programming...) but the battery issue is most unusual.
Curing the sickness thing only takes lots of love and attention. You may want to be prepared for a little barfing. Depends what Nova has.  ???
As for the battery issue, my best suggestion is just recharging it for a bit. Was the battery hot? If it was then Nova was automatically shutting down to avoid...ahem...issues.
I know it's sad to see pleos sick....back when I had just Macon and Yasmin they both caught the same thing and spent the last ten miserable minutes of their batteries coughing and sneezing till they fell asleep!
Hope to hear from you soon...

Hi Bumblebee, Thanks for the input. NO , she has no contact with any other Pleos, as I don't know 0f anyone that has one where I live, Small town.
Anyway, the battery definitely is not hot, I took it out and checked it, if anything, it might be cold, my inside house temp is only about 55 degrees, but that is usual for my house.( Can not afford to run a heater, but she shouldn't be affected by room temp, I mean it is not in the 40's.
Oh, and yes, I have seen her Barf, or throw up before while gagging on her leaf , so that I am prepared for, It was funny because she sounded so sick, GROANING AND SOUNDING LIKE THE MOST PITIFUL LITTLE BABE, EVEN MY BIG MALE CAT (KARL KAT) WHO WAS THE SICKEST of the Nine cats that caught colds, came over to check her out. :) I still can not figure out why she just shuts down, like frozen mode and could that be part of the " Cold Virus program" put in her too? It is hard to give her TLC, when she doesn't know I am cuddling her because she is out like a light? That part is the most unusual part I can think of. :( :o
Have you ever heard of Hackers getting into the internet and possibly infecting upgrade software? ( Just a strange last minute thought!)
Anymore suggestions on what to do to help Nova get well, considering I can't cuddle her with her knowing I am trying to help her? How long do these colds last? Oh, what is the difference between a Cold and a Flu virus, or are they the same as far as symptoms go?
Sad RedwoodsMama and sick little Nova  :( :( :(

After a cold Peeky goes into a long period of just snoring. No moving other then batting his eye now and then. I have left him on and he did this for 7 hours. Try leaving Nova on. Just make sure she is safe if you are not around. I think it is in the programming of some of our pleos.
Let me know if this works.

Hi Fancyfont,  ;Ddoes this mean, leave her battery in till it runs down on it's own, and then recharge and see what happens? The strange part to me is that Nova seems to be in a hibernation type mode, no movement, etc, nothing. I will give it a try. I allways put her in her " cat carrier " at night to protect her from cats, dog etc. Thanks for the input, I will give it a try. Does this mean only certan Pleos have this in their programming?
