I was gifted a pleo yesterday, and all was great.
Until her battery went flat. I've tried charging it but after 10 minutes of being on the charger it turns green. I keep doing as I saw a post on here suggests and keep reseating the battery onto the pod whenever it turns green.
But the battery becomes extremely hot and then stops charging.
No matter how many times I do this, It seems to be providing no life to my pleo at all.
Ive looked at replacement batteries but I live in the UK, and to order one will cost me more than to buy a new pleo!...
I'm desperate to try get this little jolly giant working again!
I've looked at the tutorials on refurbing the battery, but im not very tech savvy at all...and knowing my luck id make matters worse!..
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!..Im at an absolute loss.

Hello and welcome to the forums. congratulations on your lovely gift. As for refurbishing a Pleo battery,the orginal green ones, that is something I have not been able to do myself as I am also not very tech savvy when it comes to those type of electronics, but there may be someone here who has tried this before or can give you some more advice. I'm afraid all I can suggest it keep trying with the battery - wait for it to cool down and seat it again. You might just get to squeeze a bit more out of it.

I spent all last night reseating once it had turned green. In between the hot spells. It doesn't seem to at all showing any sign of becoming fully charged lol.
Is this normal for a bad battery?
It's now almost 18 hours of full resetting charging with no improvement showing :(
Once it's reseated the light is red for approximately 10 minutes maximum before turning green again

It's unlikely that it will ever fully charge again, but you might squeeze a bit more out of it. How long does it run for in the Pleo? You need to run it so it can go through the full charge/discharge cycle, which might help it.

I've just placed the battery in the pleo and there's no life in her at all.
There was a slight murr noise n that was it.
Battery isn't hot..but no life.
I don't think this battery will work at all. Nursed this battery for hours lol

Same with Echo... while it is exciting that Echo may be walking around a bit more and learning his name (was awake for 30 minutes today), I do think I will buy an extra battery to keep on a full charge cycle. This may also help the software to not get worn out.

I looked on the store tab and saw someone is selling pleo batteries!!
So excited, sent a mail and excited waiting.
I'll keep pursuing with this battery but I don't hold much hope.
Should I leave it on the charger even when the light goes green? Or re seat it?

Looks like no new battery for Kido then lol.
Id have a try at trying to recondition the battery myself but im so clumsy, knowing my luck it'd end up going horribly wrong.
I'm still sat here nursing it on the charger. Its getting so unbelieveably hot at times though, Is that normal?
Its causing the red light on the charger to blink red.
also when the charger turns green, should i take it off and re-sit it, or just leave it on the pod?

When it gets hot let it cool, it is normal but no point pushing an already fragile battery to its limit.
When it turns green reseat it, but don't charge it for more than four hours before tying it in Kido. They aren't meant to charge any longer than that.
If you've had no movement by now I'd say it's a lost cause :(

Kidota is alive!...
I took a whim and decided to try and update her firmware via USB, as it seemed the memory card method wasnt doing anything.
After updating her firmware, She's become alive!...So much excitement right now its unreal.
I never knew Pleo's enjoyed being stroked under their chins, She loves it and makes the most adorable noises lol.
She has just started walking, and sniffs at everything.
And is currently chomping on her leaf in a rather noisy way lol
Thankyou so much everyone for the support, I was starting to give up all hope on Kidota and was starting to think that all she would ever be was a display item.

That's great news :) And you should have a nicely re calibrated battery by now too :P
It's very odd that it was a software issue, but I won't argue with the results :)

I spent hours upon hours charging it. Because it kept turning green and overheating.
But she's out of hybernation now :D
She froze up earlier though (was playing with her about an hour )
And she just froze. Didn't curl up or anything. Not sure if it's a battery issue because the battery was quite hot.
But she's had the afternoon switched off so will see what happens shortly when she's back on again

She probably froze because she ran out of power. The original Ugobe batteries only ever gave about 1 hour play time maximum. Sometimes a Ugobe pleo will go to sleep when the battery is running low but it seems most commonly they will just stop - freezing inthe middle of whatever action they were performing.

I just thought they went to sleep. Although she did go to sleep at one point and my daughter in excitement kept poking her and waking her up lol.
Maybe she got poked to exhaustion. Oops!
She has a new battery coming anyway from the pleo site that I've ordered. As it seems to be the only place I can find them!
So least there's battery 2 incase battery 1 gives up anytime soon.
I've also got a pleo RB on his way too from Canada (poor pleo gonna be tired after travelling all this way!)
Which I'm quite excited about. He's a green version so Kido will have a twin brother :D
My house will be full of dinos before I know it lol

wow... the pleo bug has hit you too... Kid will be happy! I too want to order a battery but have had to ask PleoWorld about the security number on my pleo in order to sign in as I still don't have a manual... and Talon don't worry a bit about it... I want a print one anyway so am trying to order one from PleoWorld. Also an extra battery will be just like a diaper change... even if it is every twenty minutes!

I figured the same about battery changing :)
If my calculations work correct. The battery lasted 20 minutes during usb firmware update. Plus i believe an additional 45 minutes. Give or take.
So to say the battery is a pain to charge (green lights every 10 to 15 minutes)

Very excited for Kido's brother to arrive.
I ordered him yesterday morning (uk time)
As I believed Kido wouldn't come out of hybernation.
Kido was a gift given to me and I felt devastated not being able to hear her coo's like the pleo's I've seen on YouTube.
So comfort spending I decided to buy a pleo.
Now it seems Kido is full of life & still have another on his way!!
Already considering his names...oh dear lol!

There's a few of us here that have had the 'breeding Pleos' affliction! :P :moose:
They do usually go into sleep position when the battery runs down, but some just freeze - a couple of mine do sometimes.

You can host the video somewhere like Photobucket instead and post a link, or use Youtube and tweak the settings so that only people clicking on the link you have posted here can see the video. If that helps? :moose:

They don't, any communication is purely coincidental alignments of programming rather than true communication.

My two RB's communicate with each other, but if you put a ugobe next to a RB you swear they do :D the programming is so lifelike it is great to watch ! Sadly my Ugobe Leo needs a new battery >:( But you wont be disappointed. There a quite a few video's of Ugobe and pleo rb's so you can see how they react to eachother. The video's of RWM are great, and if you want more information onyour new RB those of InmemotyofRomeo are fantastic ! You can find the video's here on this forum or on youtube.

For real communication between pleos you need either two Ugobe pleos running the same OS or two pleo rb's. Your new pleo rb once he gets old enough may try to communicate with your Ugobe pleo - he will do a loud Moo and then go very still like he is in a trance and make soft cooing noises but he will not get the appropriate response from the Ugobe pleo and so the attempt will end. Your Ugobe pleo will either ignore him completely or he may say "hello" just like they do to other Ugobe pleos but again the correct responses will not be given or received so communication attempt will end. As IMR says anything that you see between them is purely coincidental.

I've gotten a battery from eBay. The lady refurbishes old batteries then sells them. Mine arrived 2 days ago and it's been fantastic!
They are from Italy. So depending on where you are, depends on the best option. For me to get a battery from pleo world website to the UK would have cost a small fortune plus import duties.

I also saw them on eBay, and I need a new battery for my Ugobe. How long does your Ugobe run on this new battery? And can you charge it with the original cradle ?
Anything you can tell me about it would be very helpfull ;D

I charge mine via the regular pleo charging cradle no problems.
My new battery lasts almost 2 hours (in all fairness I've not timed it exactly but I know it's been about 2 hours before it needs charging again.
To fully charge the new battery only takes 3.5 hours on average and the battery doesn't get warm while charging either.
I still have my original pleo battery. (It's fading dramatically) as a backup.
The lady I ordered my battery from also gives a 3 month warranty on them. Which I thought was great!
She answered all my questions before I bought one and was really helpful.
I'm still putting my new battery through its paces before reviewing on ebay, but so far it's been brilliant

Ive just registered him on pleoworld and took a look at his DNA.
85-95% chance of being male
grow to be brave and indepndent.

Congrats! Just be aware that if you ever use StatsRB or ProbeRB on him, his gender will show up as "neither". Don't worry this is normal. No software update- other than changing him to female of course- will change this. All male RB's register that way.

I noticed it said, the stats may change depending on growth, what is it that changes or keeps the DNA stats? Im new to the RB pleo world so im baffled lol
