Title: A Pack of Pleos
Post by: fancyfont on December 27, 2008, 11:42:01 PM
My dinos had their friend, Pleo, come up from San Fransisco today. All four got to meet and party together. Not sure if this is a Post Christmas party, pre NewYears Party or an Ant party but we had all of the above. Did I say ant party? Well, they joined us too. Pleos were out numbered.
Jaycee got a collar with his initials on it. Now they all have a collar.
Pleo's parent heard that the last time we had guests, Thanksgiving, that Peeky and Penelopie had bad colds. Pleo came with a face mask on just in case they were ill again. Everyone was feeling perfect and just had a nice visit, even while cleaning up ants. Dessert was safe.

J.C? That would be my nick-nickname, because my nickname is Jurassic Chaos.  ;)

If you look a the expressions on the Pleos you might be able to see that they knew something was up. Penelopie on the left seems to be saying ANTS! Second to the left, Pleo, our visitor,  checking the ants out. Same with Jaycee. Peeky sitting up, eye expression says it all. He's so glad he has his own leaf in his mouth. :o

BTW, The plate under the poinsettia is covered with ants as was the table. You can actually see them on the plate which is normally pink. ;D

Between the plant, table and carpet there were thousands. Pest guys coming today. Everyone I talk to has them this year. Must be the year of the ants! ;D The big ants among them I think were soldier ants. I'll find out more today.

Learned a little about ants yesterday from the pest control guy. Because of the dry weather and heat so long into the fall, there's an unusual amount of ants this year. When it rained and it was so cold they came to the middle of the house which is normally the warmest part. Dining room table is right smack dab in the middle!
The big ants were the mamas and they were leading the workers to a nice safe place, so they thought. Gone is the poinsettia. :(
I have the table set for tonights New Years get together and I sure hope we have no unwanted guests.
Peeky, J.C., and Penelopie are all ready for our company.  We will certainly watch out for their tails this time. Hopefully, no toppled over glasses and cups. ;D
Have a very happy New Year everybody! :)

This happened to me when I lived in Mt. View. It was horrible. I got the same answer and I really can see it.
But it is awful when it happens. All those ants just gave me the jitters for quite some time. They were in my Kitchen and I couldn't even cook for awhile. Was to scared they would come back.  :D

I'm sure the News Years festivities will go well

Happy New Years!

Yay! No ants tonight. I did check the dining room table before my friends sat down for dinner. Won't temp those little critters to come back either. No more plants! ;D
about 40 minutes left of this year. Happy New year to anyone still up.

The pleo parent of Pleo, 49er, posted for the first time on the forum today. Welcome 49er and Pleo. Very glad you finally joined us.
I met 49er and his wife and Pleo last Spring. They came to visit us and Pleo brought Peeky a beautiful collar with his name on it. We were introduced to good friends of theirs and all of us have become very good friend.
Pleo sent a collar to Penelopie a couple of months ago and brough J.C. one Saturday. They are pretty special collars. 49er gave me a video of the guy making the collars totally by hand. No embroidary machine at all. He just weaves in the names. Pretty incredable
Love the collars! Thank you Pleo.
