my first pack for robi turned up! over the next 18 months I'll be building this cute humanoid robot.
the first pack had me constructing his eyes, and the start of his head frame. It also came with a small robi figurine, which is nice!

next pack I get should have enough to build a neck block and test neck servo movements!

oh man sorry for the double post! my internet conked out!

This looks really interesting. It does work out quite expensive but I guess the experience of building it and the final product will be worth it. I look forward to reading your posts. Have fun! Thanks for sharing this with the forum.

Cool! This should be a neat project to follow. Good luck!

I merged the two topics for you so now it is all in the one spot :)
This looks really cool. Where did you get it from? I thought this was only available in Japan? I would love to build one of these guys :)
-
thank you!
Robi had a UK release recently! he's aimed for a US release this year too, it'd be awesome to have more robi builders in the community!
-
Sadly I'm in Australia so looks like a no go for me :(
-
i think they're aiming for general worldwide releases eventually! it's been in a few european counties already so maybe soon! you can always ask them via email.
-
Cool!
-
Aww, it's so cute!

Pack 2 is here! This got me building a neck block with a neck servo and test board, and adding more to robi's head shell.

next pack i will finish robis head, and see it in motion, and start building an arm!
-
WoW ! That is so cool ;D
-
pack 3 came and it had me finishing off his head shell, and building most of an arm, as well testing servos etc!

That's a really cool way to learn about robotics :)
-
built a shoulder housing, and connected 3 arm servos together, it was fiddly and a bit scary so hopefully nothing has gone wrong! :'D

Wow he looks so cool!
-
Very cool! Do they give you a way to check? Or do you have to wait and hope?
-
a bit later on you get a limb test board! so I guess I'll know then haha
-
looks like he is coming along nicely :)

Congrats on what you have done so far, Ii is pretty interesting on what you have done so far. ARe these kits that you get very expensive and how many are there all together, or does a new one come out each time you need to expand? RWM :cat-hug:

it's a subscription magazine! I get a new pack each month, it's going to take 18 months all in all but it's a fun build and the final product is an adorable robot which speech recognition and so on, you can get the info on the deagostini website they have started running it in many countries now!
for me it's around £57 a month? and a pack you get a month is 4 build parts (it ran weekly in japan so they condensed it to a larger monthly one in the west) you also get some accessories like a charging dock and such later on.
all in all of you have the spare cash a month i'd recommend it it's been really good fun to build so far and the magazines have nice articles on robotics.

It does look a brilliant way to learn about robots - good job! :)
