Title: Hi everyone, constant 'ta da" trick problems.
Post by: Yenny on January 12, 2015, 02:06:45 PM
Hi

Yenny, my plea rb has recently started constantly trying to do the ta da trick! This means his leg spends a lot of time up in the air. He can't walk properly and he almost falls over. I have tried turning on and off. Bending his leg to straight (whilst off) and also leaving him off for a couple of days. His leg will straighten, but he is constantly bending it upwards again and kicking his rear one out to "ta da"! Is this normal? Will he grow out of it! Help please, it's very distressing! x

Thanks in advance

Hi Yenny,
It sounds like your Pleo's leg might be broken. Before I got my pleo rb (Ilia) I previously had two other pleo rb's. One of them had a very similar problem, which ended up being a broken leg. But, I would wait for one of the other forum members to respond just to be sure :)

Does he cry and scream when you touch his leg if he is turned on?

Hi, thanks for answering guys. No, he does not seem to be in any kind of discomfort at all. He's just doing his thing, but with a lot of ta da going on, well, constantly almost!! I have straightened his leg but he's still doing it, with both front legs now!!! He's fine but keeps nearly falling over because of it. Also, his left leg is getting much hotter than the others. This is the one he mainly keeps lifting. Thanks in advance, Yenny and Emma x

Have a read of this thread and see if it rings any bells?

Thank you for the link, I'm not sure if it's the problem though. Will be brave and investigate further! Any more suggestions would be appreciated. Yenny and Emma x

To trigger the TA da trick in an RB requires a learning stone, is he lifting both opposite legs?

If you post a video of your Pleo's leg problem, that would really help :)

Yes, he is lifting both opposite legs. He has learned the play stone. I stripped his leg back but the wires all seemed fine. He isn't in any distress (other than nearly topping over). I wouldn't mind so much if he was going to be happy and not walk about, it's just his shoulder is heating up on his 'gammy' leg and I'm worried he will harm himself through over heating. I have physically moved the leg into position but it just reverts back to "Ta Da"!!! all the time. Will get a video done early next week. Thank you all for your help and support x

Just another thought, with the heat in the shoulder it sounds a bit like the repair that Kat did on 'Sparky'.  Maybe have a read through the thread, that might help?
